Man, UT2004 still looks great with some of the custom maps
I was talking to my dad about Unreal Tournament last night, and it turns out that he used to have LAN parties at his old job, and his coworkers were sharing maps that they found, which was apparently how he got all of the maps that he has in his archive, as he told me.
At my dad's old job, everyone would play UT99 LAN during free time. It was pretty cool since they later made a map of the office to play deathmatch in. I'm going to go ask him if there is somewhere where i can get the map, there most likely isn't though :/.

UT99 still looks pretty good too. Just add a few more polygons here and there, up the textures a bit, maybe improve the effects a little bit and it'd be on par with 2K4.
I think that's what I love the most about the series. Even the older games aged so well compared to most other FPS.

If you had seen it before, was it the office map that I posted a couple pages back or was it entirely something else?
How is that bad news? Most people who play Unreal Tournament games love them still. Some believe UT3 was a disaster, others love them all the same. But really, what would a new UT game bring to the series that hasn't already been done to perfection in previous titles? At this point, all they can do without ruining the charm is upgrading the graphics without using Gears of War tech. Maybe toss out that shit of a campaign and keep it to Tournament style.
Does any of you guys remember a map for UT, a sort of a city'esque map, and then had a REALLY large dome building somewhere in the middle of it?

No that wasn't the map, I asked him and he said there is no where he could find it. The files for the map stayed in the office and never left the office.
Are we posting maps? Here is every map that was on a server ever for UT2k4. So you know, if you remember a map's name but can't find the download link, this is for you. (Requires UCC decryption):

Any good ut2k4 servers?
Just finished my first playable map, DM-OfficeCorridor.

Now all we need is a server to play it on.

I like it, although it's way too small even for 1v1 and makes the weapon spawns too close to eachother IMO. I'd try extending the play area by adding a more corridors (go an entire circle) with some explorable rooms, the fall distance that kills you feels kinda short but isn't a big thing.
Edit : To add I must also say that I love how detailed the map feels despite not having much.
Long live the era in which I played Killing Floor mod in German servers with 250 ping.
Being 13 at the time and knowing a little bit of english made wonders.
Somebody posted this in one of the fast threads and it just hit me like a slap

anybody want to try and set up a game and co-op through Unreal 1 sometime soon?
I remember firing up UT99 for the first time in a cyber lan cafe in buenos aires and It was like
Whoaaaaaah look at this maaan
Went to Musimundo, bought the game and had a crapload of fun back then.
Golden age of gaming baby
People on Epic Games' forums started a petition on a new Unreal Tournament. I signed it. I don't think it will help but I want to put it in here: http://www.change.org/petitions/epic-games-tim-sweeney-develop-new-unreal-tournament-on-unreal-engine-4-for-the-next-gen-consoles-and-pc
Would be neat if the Dark Phalanx team or at least one member of the team got the spotlight in the next possible game.

One of the mods in development for UT99 released its soundtrack, the mod is made by the same people who made 7-bullets and Xidia. zYnthetic made the soundtrack (the guy who made the soundtrack for Killing Floor).
He also made soundtrack for 7bullets which is pretty neat I never knew
I really like the Doppler effect used in the game for sounds like the ones coming from the translocator disc and some of the elevators in other maps. It's pretty much the only game I know of that does that.
omg omg omg omg omg holy shit I am starting to get hyped. Unreal Tournament is my favorite series. Hopefully they learn from UT3 with the lack of enviroments.
holllly SHIT!
I honestly did not know that any of the UT games had walljumping until someone mentioned that UT2k4 had that in that thread about the new game in the SH section. That's really cool.
Anyways, what music do you guys think would sound neat as a track that plays on a map? I kinda like Rautaketju by Turmion since it reminds me of the FireBreath track.

Voicians - The Construct sounds cool as shit too, though it doesn't have nearly the same style or whatever you call it. It could easily be used for a frag movie.

What the fuck?
WHAT THE FUCK?
This changes everything I knew about ut2k4. I've played it since it came out and the game has wall jumping?
Yeah, apparently it works more like dodging off a wall where you would double-tap whatever movement key. As far as I can tell, it's just a maneuver you could perform, but it seems to work.
Would be neat if you could do it in a way like N+ does it where you can hit the space bar when you're close to the wall and have air control to allow you to control where you want to go after the jump. You would just need limits on the amount of jumps you can use on a wall so that no one would be able to exploit it.
It's dodging off a wall to get extra height and can be used to get to places you'd otherwise have to run to.
wow
there were whole communities dedicated to ut2k4's movement features, similar to say how bunnyhopping spawned kreedz climbing on source
Check out some examples here:

I've never managed to complete any of them myself

In UT99 I used to play BunnyTrack all the time. It's like death run, bunny hopping, kreedz climbing and surfing all combined into one fucking huge gauntlet. I've yet to see that replicated anywhere in any source games.
