If anybody remembers these [t]http://i7.minus.com/ibitmmTcVOIGGu.jpg[/t] [t]http://i6.minus.com/iJA9Nq53yHFIA.jpg[/t] I'm resuming work on them. I'm not sure yet, but I may have found somebody willing to animate them and get them into UT2k4. Here's the current WIP texture for the enforcer [t]http://i.minus.com/ibuvt142bNwO54.png[/t]
Are these for UT2k4, or a different game entirely? They look amazing, I love seeing the Enforcers bullets in the magazine.
Hopefully they will be going into UT2k4. I want to release them in small packs of weapons until I've done the entire weapon set. Then maybe down the road put it in the new UT once that becomes moddable if they don't use UT99 weapon designs.
Playing Unreal Championship 2 on my Xbox, it's pretty fun.
Finally corrected myself never playing Unreal Tournament before. I played UT99 at a convention. I'm ready for UT2014.
First person to reinvent Mr. Crow for UT4 gets all of my money.
Mmmmister Crow!
Man, the development forum for ut4 is depressing; while there have been some decent ideas, most of it boils down to "UT99 GOTYAY" "NO UT2004 GOAT" "FUCK YOU" "FUCK YOU"
why not have both?
why not have both?
That's what I'm thinking, really. There were features in both games that were very well made and very fun and I really hope that Epic ends up making the game a mix of the best things from both of those games along with some things that are brand new, instead of making UT99/2kx HD, which is what the toxic parts of the community seem to want for some reason. I do think some optional mutators to make the game more like one of either of the two wouldn't be a bad thing at all, though.

I love UT99, but that doesn't mean I want it verbatim. Some people are getting angry at the notion of having vehicles, wtf.
why not have both?
Because both sides are mostly composed of condescending shitheads who want exact remakes of their favourite games. Movement is the big contested point; the UT2004 faction want fast floaty acrobatic gameplay, while the UT99 faction consider it a bad thing as it made hitscan weapons far superior to projectiles. Rather than try and find a compromise, the community resorts to name calling and ad hominem. This pattern repeats with depressing frequency.

It's one of the fears that I have for the game right now.
Yeah it really pisses me off, especially considering how biased and dismissive people are being on both sides. I love UT99, but that doesn't mean I want it verbatim. Some people are getting angry at the notion of having vehicles, wtf.
Tell me about it; UT2k4's easily my favourite game of all time, and I absolutely loved the speed and agility it gave you. However, even I could see that hitscan was nearly always a better choice than projectile; when a good chunk of your guns are made inferior by your movement system, it really does need a revamp.
Playing Unreal Championship 2 on my Xbox, it's pretty fun.
I love these games! I have both Championships. They aren't as amazing as the Tournament series, but they have their own charms that I enjoy. It feels a bit more arcady. Probably because it was meant for 4 player split and controller configurations. Still though, fond memories playing these. Too bad XboxO doesn't have live anymore...
Added more missing detail and some slight camo to the barrel I also recolored it [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/EnforcerRecolor.png[/t] [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/EnforcerRecolor2.png[/t] What do you guys think, this new color, or should I go back to the more military green olive color? The olive is more classic but this one matches my Impact Hammer and minigun better EDIT: Unrelated but wow my UT2004 install is 21 gigs Also rate agree for this color, disagree for classic olive drab

Some more progress, mostly some small details left then I gotta decide on the color [t]http://i.minus.com/iG4T6jG5mYMpJ.png[/t] [t]http://i.minus.com/iHibxINuzDbjU.png[/t]
Why is the barrel obstructed :v:
UT3 might not be the best but you can't deny how cool the Dark Walker is.
The little ball mech was fun too. The vehicles in UT3 were my favorite part honestly. I liked what they did with most of the vehicles.
Speaking of vehicles, a new sub-forum for vehicle design discussion was made on the development forums... And yes, a shitstorm is already brewing! https://forums.unrealengine.com/showthread.php?5998-Participating-in-the-Unreal-Tournament-Vehicle-Design-Discussion EDIT: Apparently, judging from the now former first post in that thread, vehicles = "casuals" = battlefield = no arena gameplay at all. My head hurts.

Vehicles aren't going to destroy the game, there will just be separate modes, and there's nothing wrong with that.
UT3 did it pretty well and so did UT2K4, Vehicle CTF seperate from CTF, Warfare, Assault, ect.
Why is the barrel obstructed :v:
If you look at the model in the weapons menu the barrel is a half-cylinder. Probably doesn't make much sense but I kept it the same

Every fucking post he made was to the effect of "if it's not exactly like ut99 it's shit that only ut2004 babbies would like". Like, there are some guys on there who come up with semi legit reasons for why they preferred ut99 over ut2004, but he was just a grade A shitlord about it

Anyways, In less dramatic news, Epic have been working on movement as of late it seems. There are a few GIFs and WebM Videos in this thread which show what they have been doing: https://forums.unrealengine.com/showthread.php?5990-Movement-mechanics-of-most-current-code EDIT: Also, it seems official talks between Epic and Alexander Brandon when it comes to the game's music are starting to go down!
I'm pretty excited for UT4. I wonder what the artstyle will be. Definitely needs to be something with more color than UT3.
Man, maybe it was just me, but UT3's graphics felt really weird. Then again, i only played the demo for under an hour years ago, so there's that.
I personally feel that the Shooter demo for UE4, artistically, is pretty close to what they should go with when it comes down to artstyle related stuff. Gameplay wise its nothing like what UT should be, but something very similar to this artistically would be very pleasing to the eye to look at in this game, personally. The environments should definitely feature alot more than environments like this, though. I would like to see a return of the Na Pali and (Techno) Egyptian environments, for two specific examples. I also hope that all the factions from both UT99 and UT2k4 return in some form along with some cool new factions, though that's probably wishful thinking.
[t]http://i.minus.com/iKUFuPCeYT6s7.png[/t] [t]http://i.minus.com/ibc7ZlXAbWe5f.png[/t] restored the classic color and darkened the barrel
EDIT: Also, it seems official talks between Epic and Alexander Brandon when it comes to the game's music are starting to go down!
Heh
-enforcer pics- restored the classic color and darkened the barrel
I really like how this is shaping up! I'll be sure to download the finished pack for UT2004 as a mutator.
