What? No, I was just wondering whether there had been any massive tournaments as big and excited as some of the SF and SBB tournaments for this game since UT's release. It didn't have anything to do with possible additions to the next game.
Oh, sorry. Yeah there were some for UT99 and UT2k4 in the past. UT3 might have had one or two, I dont know for sure though.
Here is a World Cyber Games 1v1 finals match from 2001:

We'll be showing our next animation reel soon guys just fyi, and it'll have some of everybody's favorite weapons.
Also learning how to do some particle work

Anyone have the UT2k4 lightning gun for UT3?

EDIT: Nevermind , the author seems to have updated his link.

Still tweaking the specular maps, and the particles are messed up, but we're getting weapons in finally.

I'm glad we did, I forgot about this but now that its back I don't think I could do without it.

I feel like you should put some more blue on there. I always imagined the Shock Rifle as a more blueish looking weapon. Overall, it looks nearly perfect.
So I've secretly been playing a nali all this time???

It would be nice if someone made a Nali playermodel for UT2004.
New UT Stream happened today, here is the recording:

Posted this in digital art, but I'll post it here as well
Made a really high poly model/concept for a more classic UT4 shock

there it is
Was listening to this and figured it would fit right into the map soundtracks of UT GOTY.

Look at the images in this article i think pc gamer might have gotten some information wrong
speaks volumes about how good the quality of Bloodshot12's work is though
UT2004 tournament is going on to celebrate its 10th anniversary if anyone is interested.

So I just now realized there's probably a major flaw with Farham's and Gorn's backstory.
According to their descriptions in the campaign, they both fought in the 7 Day Siege, which took place in 2216. These guys are present at the tournament around 2291, 75 years after the 7 Day Siege. Neither Farham or Gorn look significantly any older than Brock. (Well, maybe not Gorn due to the implants that probably increased his life span)

Assuming these two fought in the war in their 20s or 30s, shouldn't they be dead/beyond 80 years old by now, or is there something I don't know about them?

They respawned.
So someone on the UT4 forum did some decent concept art for the Necris.

It doesn't exactly scream "Necris" to me, but it's a rather interesting design choice, though I'm not sure this is what we should go for. They were always recognizable for their white/greyscale skintones and gothic looking armor. What do you guys think?
Been a while
Sniper's now ingame and (partially) functioning

It might just be me, but something about that sniper rifle doesn't seem right. It just doesn't really look a lot like the UT99 one, which I'm assuming was what you were trying to go for.
Well for starters, the carry handle is a little too fat, and the gun itself is too bright. Also the cap of the of the scope closest to the camera seems a bit too smooth, but that might just be me.
I think that might be it. Otherwise, it looks great.
I'd want to see another shot of the rifle in different lighting conditions, I have a suspicion that the overbright is just due to the player standing under a light source.
Anyways, I'm kinda pissed that there's hardly any Unreal action figures out there. All I can find are the ones for Gorge, Damarus and Domina. A Xan action figure would have been very neat along with some other characters from UT99 and UT2004.

I posted this one on moddb

It's the spec maps which I've since toned down a tad.

tbh this is probably the gun I took the most liberties with.
The barrel is a mix of an m16a2 barrel with an AR-10 barrel, the muzzle is layered into multiple parts to reciprocate (alternatively it extends when the weapon draws, to make it seem a bit more futuristic), and it's a little fatter because when I modeled it I preferred how a slightly bigger one looked.
Also the barrel itself is much bigger than the ut99 one because, well, the ut99 sniper barrel was extremely tiny and I thought it looked a bit odd. The only thing that really matches up with the original is the really long muzzle, charging handle, and the shape of the scope
Shit, someone made a pretty decent Pulse Gun model on the forum.

I wish epic commented on it though :/ it seemed to just fade into the forums
Is there a way to export the UT playermodels in their T poses rather than in one of their frames for sequences like shown in the below screenshot or is it flat out impossible to do so without addition editing to the mesh? I heard that a lot of animation in the first game was vertex-based, so the latter might be the case, unfortunately.

-snip I have no idea-
One of the bonus packs for UT added SkeletalChars.u maybe that will help you in some way
also I found this http://www.unrealsp.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1886
they all seem to use skeletal anims
I think that was just for Xan Mark II and WarBoss, but I'll take a look at it anyway, just in case.
[editline]29th July 2014[/editline]
Also, the devs just posted a new video.

Thinking about it, I could probably take a look at the PS2 ported player models. I think they might have skeletal animation supported.

Yeah, that's what I was doing.
I might need to make a couple changes to the character meshes to make them look more like how they did in the PC version, but other than that, all the models seems to be fine other than the Female Commando.
Maybe you guys can help settle a dispute me and a few friends are saying. I play both Unreal games and Quake games, he only knows of Quake.
Anyway, there is this mod for most Source games, called "Quake Sounds" Very misleading as it's actually two of the many announcers from UT2k4, Sexy Female, and a Male Announcer. Personally I prefer the strict female over the others, simply for her accent.
Anyway, my friend thinks the sounds came from Quake, but UT2k4 used them because they were "Free Use" . Some other friends think it comes from Quake and I'm just an idiot. Pretty much no one wants to agree with me, everyone saying I'm wrong.
