New UT stream today, guess what Flak Cannon is the official one? http://www.twitch.tv/unrealtournament/b/578443080
God damn that Flak Cannon is great. Glad to see it get in to the game.
Fucking christ that is so good. Actually looks like a flak cannon
Does anyone know the music that plays for the first 5 minutes on that "Stream will start soon" screen?
So I decided to look around for Alexander Brandon's music on Youtube and found this: I don't know why I was surprised by this considering that Alexander has been known to be pretty decent musician, but this was surprisingly good.
It turns out that someone on the UT4 forum just posted a couple of collector mappacks. http://forums.unrealtournament.com/showthread.php?13484-UT-Collector-MapPacks So what are y'all's thoughts on this?
Currently a shitstorm thriving in the forums to do with the Shock Rifle. Basically, do you prefer this: or this Loads of russians and kids are getting really angry that people prefer the horizontal UT99 style Rifle compared to the vertical one, saying it's "not changed enough". Personally I really like the horizontal barrel but I think it still needs some work. The vertical barrel looks too much like generic sci-fi laser rifle for me liking
I prefer any design that resembles UT99 more simply because to me that game was the best in every way. Sure UT2k4 is pretty awesome, but I feel everything was done to perfection in the first from Soundtrack to Weapons Design to art style. So any effort put into going back to that style is good in my books. So I vote horizontal.
Both look good, but ultimately I prefer the horizontal barrel. It looks better with the rest of the weapon compared to the vertical one, and it makes the weapon look more visually distinct compared to alot of other Sci-Fi rifles in games. I would like to see a weapon concept that isn't by Gooba get alot of attention (aside from KazeoHintech's Flak Cannon), though. EDIT: wow people are getting WAY too mad over this
I don't really mind either of them, but the white on the second looks kinda eh. Doesn't really feel 'UT'. Could be just there to differentiate better though, I don't know. But in either case I don't mind really. I've always been a sucker for vertical, but the horizontal is just so much like the older games and I love it.
Use the black, horizontal one. If their reason for complaining is that it's not different enough, then it's solid and you should keep it.
I expect the ones who say things like it's "not changed enough" haven't even played the original games and don't care about them.
I like the colours of the second one and the details of the first one, though I kinda miss the big glowy thing that the UT2004 one had. I'd love to se a concept of that.
people are literally acting like children and calling each other complete morons it's odd how it's happened
"muh videogames" if people arent acting like children and morons on the game's forum then something's wrong
people are literally acting like children and calling each other complete morons it's odd how it's happened
I'm at least glad that there are people in the community that dont act like complete children in regards to an aesthetic choice for a weapon in a video game. Sadly those people aren't discussing anything in Gooba's shock rifle concept thread right now, instead we have mass pointless hysteria and anger.
Here's what it currently looks like [T]https://forums.unrealtournament.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=9055&stc=1[/T][T]https://forums.unrealtournament.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4813&d=1402278597[/T] [T]https://forums.unrealtournament.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=9054&stc=1[/T]

But hopefully people will provide constructive criticism to it
New Video:
Loving that music
I want someone to make a frag movie/montage for UT99's Loque, complete with lame-ass "cool" special effects, reversing time effects, Loque's profile randomly appearing, footage randomly speeding up, and shots of Loque killing from other angles. An Instagib montage would be the best, but him going nuts with the Shock and Sniper Rifles would also be good.
When I was much younger, I used to think that the end of the Shock Rifle barrel looked like some kind of microphone.
Feel like polge looks exhausted in that video
When I was much younger, I used to think that the end of the Shock Rifle barrel looked like some kind of microphone.
I always just never used it because I preferred seeing my hands
I always just never used it because I preferred seeing my hands
I wasn't implying that the end of the barrel looked bad, if that's what you were thinking. I always liked to imagine real-life objects in fictional weapons or whatever.
Oh god, I think I just now realized what was off about the new Enforcer design. It actually wasn't the curved top that made it look weird, but rather how the corner of the gun where the hammer on a regular gun would be at isn't tall enough to line up with the top of the "curved top", and that's what made it look off or whatever. But now it's too late, because everyone's pretty much already agreed on the design and moved on and it's already been modeled.

Hopefully they'll bring back Player Customization like UT3 had. One of the few things UT3 did right anyway.
Skip to 0:35 for the good part. Hip hop music like what's shown in the video sure does sound great in combination with UT4 gameplay despite the music genre in the other games being totally different from hip hop.
So they've got a prototype for the Bio Rifle. They show footage of it around 8:45. What's really fucking awesome is that got it to where you can alt fire your link gun at the bio goo and do a connect-the-dots thing where the bio goo are the dots and the link laser are your lines that connect the dots. Around 10:16.
