You might want to tone down the distortion in the first edited clip, though.

I'm not sure if playing with the pitch would get close enough to the original compared to a genuine low-pitched throat vibrato, but while it sounds a bit weird it could be a fine community voice pack.

Same basic overall idea but not too much so as emulating the original would be a bit hard as I mentioned.

It would be neat if someone made a mod for UT99 that replaces aspects of the gameplay from those from UT4. Sure, it might unbalance the gameplay since the maps in UT99 weren't made for UT4, but I'd still like to be able to walldodge and shit in UT99. Seriously, the movement and shit in that game seems decent and satisfying in comparison to what UT99 had.
I really hope Loque in UT4 stays as a dude with bullshit aiming skills tbh.
I picked up Unreal gold in the sale since I felt kinda guilty for never playing any of the singleplayer Unreal games, and man this game is good. I really like the stinger in this, kinda wish we got the shotgun altfire in the UT games

I tried the newest UT a bit and to be honest it didnt feel that great but then again I have never played UT games and the game seems to be heavily nostalgia-powered. Large guns being held with one hand also looks really off to my eye.
I don't think it's for you right now. The weapons aren't done, the animation system isn't done, most everything isn't done, and they are working to balance the game mechanics like the UT community wants early on. If you aren't heavily into reflex/skill-based FPS games I'd suggest coming back down the road when it's more fleshed out
I'm really not liking the way the weapons are looking. I was really hoping for a more classic UT99 look.
Honestly I think it's fine since people are remaking UT99 weapons as alternatives anyway. I actually like the ut4 flak cannon better than the earlier designs though.

I actually like the ut4 flak cannon better than the earlier designs though.[/QUOTE] Most of the designs look nice and I appreciate the innovation and the people going for new designs, but I still find some of them distracting or annoying to look at because certain parts were made over the top and very noticeable just for the sake of the weapon looking ~fancy~ or complex, like the huge cable on the link gun and the awkward little pistons sticking out when the weapon is firing, and I personally really dislike the protruding arm loading the rockets on the rocket launcher. Though design choices are by community preference and if the majority prefer those designs then I can't blame them for keeping the ones people want. I just prefer weapons which are simple yet nice to look at with its own charm coming naturally rather than having a design trying to enforce a charm on a new weapon look by having 2-4 different moving parts.
