Hey, does anyone feel like playing together on a server with Evolve at some point in time? I already sorta have a server set up to work with Evolve, but I'm wondering if any of you want to set your own server up.
I know that these guys occasionally host a UT99 server as well as a UT2004 server and a Jedi Academy server (unrelated, but if you have an interest in that particular game, it's there).

Are there commands to reposition view models in UT99? I've been playing in ultrawide and I've been running into this:

It's not a huge problem, its only with the redeemer that there is a real visibility issue.

Is it okay to be very upset about the fact that the UT4 devs still haven't gotten around to fix the custom materials being broken on the Mac version of the game? It especially annoys me now because there's a ported UT99 map pack that someone made and I wanted to see how shit like rippling water textures and etc compared to the original maps.

I already made a thread or 2 about this problem before, but it's been a while since then and I have a feeling I may need to make another one.
So, Epic released another update and it seems they brought back the Lightning gun. Judging from the description, it works in a similar way like a TF2 sniper rifle compared with the old UT2004 lightning gun.

Flag Run took a minute to get the hang of, but I think it's a lot of fun. I haven't used the lightning gun yet, though.

I decided to convert the male commando model into a giant brush just for the hell of it.
Also, I made a road and pond scene in Blender and brought it over to UED2. I plan on adding some trees surrounding the area later.

That looks more natural then i expected, does ut99 have any hard limits in terms of map detail?
I'm not really sure, but I know that there are some UT99 maps that kinda look like UT2004 maps with the heavy use of model actors and non-matte surfaces.

I fucking wish reflections worked with skyboxes in UED2. Otherwise, I would have gone with a legitimate skybox rather than a boring cyan texture.
Oh the community pack where they replaced the weapons with the same weapons but only you can't use weapon shortcuts on them anymore. Also Kamah and especially Otherworld ran terrible.

I remember there was this thing people could do in Unreal gold to make highly detailed terrain at a low cost
It looked seriously good too
sadly by now that technique is probably lost on some unknown website, there's no reasonable way I'd find it by now, but it was fucking crazy

Did it have anything to do with external modeling software or was it all within UED2?
Also I posted this in the comments section for one of the screenshots involving the model exporting thing. It just occurred to me that not everyone on here may know how to do that:

UT3 is more like a Chinese ripoff of GoW and UT

tbh I miss Unreal Gold's "Art" style but I can never get back into it sadly
UG had something unique that nothing else can really emulate. The Solus project gave that same exactly feeling but that's the only game that I've seen do it. UG had this really amazing attitude to it, exploring these fantastical ruins of an alien world, giant fields, huge terrain. This feeling of both isolation and adventure.
There are a shit load of games that give you this really great sense of exploration but UG just has a very unique take on it.
Also, I accidentally came across an archive for the RealMaps series, which I believe was originally made for that one Infiltration gamemode.
