as far as I'm concerned UT4 flak is the definitive version
So sad that unreal is dead and the only few servers alive are those car servers (forgot the game mode). Way too slow paced and no idea what was going on. RIP.

I take it that you're talking about Onslaught in UT2004, right?

Yeah I think so. My favourite mode is instagib and normal deathmatch, but those are a ghost town unless playing with bots.
Thank god UT99 has a decent bot system, because bot matches were mostly all I ever did with that game.

The auto difficulty is amazing. Until you reach Godlike and they just rofl-stomp you.

By the way, I just uploaded a skinpack onto ModDB that gives the default skins additional colors (The image above is related to that). It's waiting for authorization at the moment, so it might be ready in a couple of days.
Apparently, it just got approved today. Here it is, I guess.

Sorry if the Metal Guard guy is too dark on your end. He wasn't that dark on my laptop screen.
Do you guys think these trees are too ugly/confusing to be used in an actual deathmatch map as boundaries or are they fine?

They look ok at a distance.
Is really kinda sad what the devs have done to ut4 over the past year
Last year:
Now:
also what it was vs what it is: (bigger is the new shit)
The game would be much better if it had a proper development cycle/team. I've said it before, but at this rate I'd prefer playing any of the older ones.
I understand games aren't made overnight, but this game seems to be moving at a snails pace sometimes.
UT99.org has a discussion thread up for an end of the year mapping contest · https://ut99.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=12318
So there should be a bunch of new maps as we're coming into 2018.

FYI, I just recently released the second version of the Extra Colors skinpack.

UT99 still getting love makes me a very happy man child.
Apparently, someone made what's basically the 3D skybox entity from the Source engine:
https://ut99.org/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3809
He posted a link to a map that has an updated version of the entity, but that version of the map didn't include the entity, so here's an older version.

Apparently, he also released the updated file in this thread himself. Scroll down a bit.

These mapping contests got me super excited, time to reacquaint myself with uEd's bsp tantrums. Might join in if my attempt turns out half-decent.
Speaking of mapping, I vaguely remember this one guy that managed to make an editor tool that made seamless, smooth terrain without murdering the bsp, don't think it was even brush based. It's driving me crazy that I can't find it.
I did a comic based off of something that happened in an Unreal coop session with some guys on Discord.

And yes, someone did literally say "let's kill the terrorists" before immediately falling to their death in a pool of lava.
Anyone here play UT99 singeplayer mods? There's a mod called Oldskool that allows for singleplayer like unreal gold. You can find mods that are as long as unreal gold or even longer!
Recently there was this mod called Xenome which is a continuation of an earlier mod

Mostly just posting this mod as an example there are a ton of sinleplayer mods that are amazing in quality
Need Old-Skool though. Some mods might be .umod which is some kind of compressed file type from the time when internet speed wasn't great I guess. There are some umod extractors somewhere!
Just wanted to post this stuff since nobody seems to discuss these mods :)
Woah that's some impressive natural environments from UE1.
It's been a while since i've played an Unreal/UTSP release, does it have coop support?
Yes, mods I've tried with co-op are operation na-pali and I think Xidia has too..?
if you like enviroments like that then you'll love the big mods like Xidia, seven bullets, Xenome 1&2 and operation na pali as they are all very big mods with good detailed enviroments. Mods that are more grounded in the unreal 1 feel but still good detail are mods like Dejavu.
Quick question: Are my ancient CD versions of UT & UT2004 compatible with their respective steam versions?

You talking about online play? If so, yes they are.

Yeah, cheers!
Holy fuck I actually had no idea about the 2016/17 remake and I found out about it from this thread. I'm actually impressed, it plays really nicely.
