why do people keep talking about ut2k4 in here, stop.
Thats right, we should make a Ut2004 thread. Then make one for Ut2003, and Ut3, and Unreal, and Unreal 2. Or alternatively, we could get an Unreal series megathread. Why make a thread for a single game in a series?
This is a UT99 thread, not a UT2K4 thread. Also, can anyone test this out for me and give me ideas on what to improve? http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9791791/UT99/FCM%20PublicBeta.rar
better map, although the spawn points could be a bit better, and scaling it down 1/4 is too much, maybe scale it down 1/3 of the original map.
better map, although the spawn points could be a bit better, and scaling it down 1/4 is too much, maybe scale it down 1/3 of the original map.
Thanks for the tips. I'll update the spawn points a bit to be in more reasonable locations. I also actually like the size it is now, with the other rooms it can be quite a fun map with bots/other players.
Their opinion to me is basically me wanting to give them a backhand out of a fucking window.
well then mate i think you've got a couple of issues you need to sort out then
Alright, think I'm just about finished. If anyone can help me with a new name that'd be cool. Agree for DM-Facepunch Disagree for DM-ForeverAlone Funny for DM-FCM Winner for your name idea (reply to this post?)
Oh man. First time I played this game I was 9. Facing Worlds was the ULTIMATE sniping map for me.
It's the ultimate sniping map for a lot of people. Not only opposing snipers but anyone that's running between the bases is probably praying that a sniper doesn't decide to pick them. It's hard as fuck trying to capture a flag without dying or passing it to teammates. :v:
I agree with BeardyDuck. The map 'flows' nicely now, the only dead ends were sniping positions/secrets. It does feel slightly too cramped for the idea, it played best with 8. The bots were very good considering. Apart from them getting stuck in an open cardboard box in the hallway and camping sniping points once they got there, they tended to move around the map well. They usually beat me to the shieldbelt! :v: I noticed some of the older brushes are still around, now scaled too small to be of use. The Elevator to the top ledge behind the computer for example. "REDRUM" was a nice touch. I'm glad you thought about people ending up behind the flak cannon drawers in the girls' room. It's a shame you removed the autocannons, but a lava pit is cool too. it's just a lot easier. (IIRC, and I never did much UE2 mapping so I may be incorrect, but I think teams are set 0 red, 1 blue, 2 green, 3 yellow, etc, 255 none) In all, an impressive map now!

Thanks for the great help with this, it wouldn't have been possible at all without all of you :buddy: I'll add the minor author and levelinfo details then fully release it.
Theres an option in whatever Unrealed came with 2004 to scale the entire map down. Is that in the older Unrealed? Would save you from remaking it.

All three are connected by a hallway and some tunnels. Map is fully noded so you can play with bots. Pictures [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9791791/FCM2.png[/img_thumb] Known (mostly unfixable) Bugs 1. In the dresser mirror in the pink room, the skybox has the HOM effect. This is an engine bug where the mirror fails to render the skybox. Nothing I can do about this except for remove the mirror, sorry! 2. Mini entrances were caused by me downsizing the map and making it all into one brush. I tried my best to hide some of them :shobon: I have no idea why this took 3 days, I'm pretty slow when mapping.
Oh man I really wish people still played UT99 online. It had much much better deathmatch gameplay in my opinion. It just felt more smooth and fast paced. I mean UTK4 is still amazing, I have been itching to play UT99 online. Like a full server too. We need to get this happen'n!
Nostalgia. I had just burnt a copy back in '99 from my best friend and was playing it on my computer. I blew somebody's head into meaty bits when my Father walked in to witness said event. He paused and said, "Holy shit, this sure beats Duke3D, eh?" I Love my Dad.

Oh my god...this game was the equivalent of crack for me back in 2001.

i'm quite impressed xenoyia it's a pretty fun map to play around in but the biggest issues right now is that it's very one-sided, there should be more ways across the map
Fuck yes Unreal is the shit. I used to play this ALL the time when I was little. I'd make a bot game in novice mode, set the players to 16, give myself godmode, go to Morpheus, and MASS MURDER people with the rocket launcher and redeemer.
More like enable 'Playersonly' and shoot a sniper round at everyone head, retype the code and wait for the announcer to say 'Monster Kill'.
Doesn't work like that. The sniper rifle in UT99 does not fire projectiles; it's hitscan. Even during playersonly, the target takes the damage immediately: The Redeemer, on the other hand, fires actual rockets and totally works great:
If they make the next UT game for consoles only, IT WILL BE DEAD TO ME. Other than that i have an annoying floaty mouse issue on UT99 that i cannot seem to fix.

Not completely sure though. I'd need to get a web host as well, for the redirect servers. [editline]23rd February 2011[/editline] That was a fun match, good game :buddy:

There's still a surprising amount of populated servers on the go, at least there were when I checked ~10 minutes ago. Err, as an aside, any chance of an FP game happening? (Whoops, may've been a bit late.)
Thievery. Oh lord. So much time spent on Singleplayer sneaking past every guard just to be burned by the statues :smith: I've bought this game two times and once with Unreal Anthology and still can't find the discs :smith:
Well silly, it's meant to be played with multiple people. Why else would they limit the number of flashbangs and invisibility potions? On top of it I've like to play with people but I'd probably only be good at guard or a supportive thief.
Life is pain, GET OVER IT! :argh:
:science:Volatile Self Extract VolatileSelf.u and VolatileSelf.int into your C:\UnrealTournament\System folder. Keep the game settings you have, but additionally turn Friendly Fire up to 100%. The premise is simple. Every time anybody dies, they EXPLODE like a Redeemer warhead. The kicker is that the original instigator will get credit for any chains of explosions. With enough bots, you can snipe one and watch the shockwaves chain all the way back to the spawns before dying out. One-shot Monster Kills, or even one-shot Godlikes are very possible. [img_thumb]http://i53.tinypic.com/29ektio.jpg[/img_thumb]
Hahahaha this is great! Thank you.
Strangelove was such a fantastic mod.
