The best part is if you somehow managed to pick reinhardt before his hammer hits the floor he keeps his ultimate. Effectively punishing you for having the reaction speed of a god.

Either earthshatter needs a nerf or there needs to be a clear indication that a Reinhardt has earthshatter ready, effectively making it so the enemy team knows you can hammer down at any moment.
One nerf could be adjusting the stun time based on distance. If it basically just glances you you don't stay down for long at all.

Of the 4 other tanks, 2 are more flankers/distractions than tanks, one is only a tank because of his high health pool and has no way to block damage, and the one that is second closest to a tank can only shield herself and one ally. Rein is popular because he is just more reliable than the others when it comes to being a tank. Zarya is close (and still a good character), but she can only protect against so much, but she trades that off by having better damage and, while only limited to herself and one ally, near godmode with her bubbles.

I'll argue that at least half the time Reinhardt is better damage than Zarya

You're going to die.[/QUOTE] Then there's the thing where the ult looks like it has finished (your teammates stunned) and then you run to them to maybe do healing or shielding but then you get stunned too, because the earthshatter has a very very small duration after being cast where you can still be stunned
earthshatter could be changed to have: 3 second cast time (not exactly long, but it does help avoid) and, stun length based off of how far you were hit by the earthshatter
The issue with earthshatter is that Reinhardt's counter is distance, and that ultimate is huge, covers a large distance, and it's better to be close to a Reinhardt at that point than further away in the offchance is misses you. So it's a constant battle in your mind wondering if you should close the gap between you and the Reinhardt or not. It's why I usually play Reaper against Reinhardt, but honestly it's the only hero I can think of that can work against one. The others can't be that close to a Reinhardt and get away with it. With Sombra, yeah, you can hack the shield, but have fun being pummeled to death if you aren't working with your team.

It just needs to some tweaks with altitude, objects, line of sight and how far it really goes (cracks barely matter, you get hit farther than those) etc. But they'll never give a visual of a character having the ult ready, now that we also have Sombra that can help that. You can also judge when Rein has an ult if he's being too aggressive and using less the shield.
Earthshatter also suffers from the same issue as a few other ultimates, with how it has a ridiculous vertical range. Quite a lot of times I've been flying around as Pharah and still got knocked down.

Zarya's laser is hard to track onto enemies if they're jumping around, and her right click doesn't have that much splash radius. With Reinhardt, anything is hit in a cone in front of you, and can hit more than one target. You can count on being able to hit enemies 100 percent of the time with Reinhardt because you can't "misfire" a melee, not so much with Zarya.

I also feel like the earthshatter range isn't exactly like the ground fires show it to be, it should be reduced to fit more what you see as a reinhardt, it was pretty confusing to not know the full range of it. What do you wanna do against that? It protect your friend from bullet, projectile, and all sort of damage. He is properly countered by half the cast, notably Reaper as i said. Roadhog do ways more damage than he does. Most other tanks do much much more than reinhardt, while he only shield. Most vehicle in this game are floating vehicle. Excepted Junkrat and Roadhog motorcycle, which is cool as heck and add to how apocalyptic they are.
While we're talking about nerfs can they just renerf widowmaker and remake her later? She's just a bad character. Either a complete dead weight on the teams or making the game unfun for the opposite. Doesn't help that she's basically 100% pick rate in QP lol
Here's some ideas on how to make Rein's ult better: The cracks in the ground could project a visible heat blast or throw rocks upwards to show that it hits the air as well as the ground. This blast would come out as a visible wave from the hammer with the save getting higher the further away it goes. Thoughts?

The game overall needs a lot better readability with the abilities. Earthshatter is just some lines on the ground that appear for a split second, Lucio's boop is fucking huge, but the effect is only about the size of him, Death Blossom has like the double the range that the effect shows, etc, etc.

blizzard always goes on how they dont want to buff defense heroes because seemingly pubbies will just end up complaining that theyre too OP/not fun to deal with but then they force snipers into being a thing in OW and its the most unfun thing to have to deal with
