Stillborn - a MOO with cyberpunk themes, post-apocalypse, Lovecraftian horror, and morbid allegories

Kind of addicted to this, there's something about doing most actions manually that keeps sucking me back in.
I still don't understand how to view the pictures the text makes. It just doesn't come together

they're less pictures and more maps. each square represents something. 'MM' on the nakavas map means 'Mad Munitions' while all the '||' and '==' are streets because they look like roads
Yeah I didn't think it would happen but it's like the Matrix, eventually you don't even see the code.

hopefully this'll get newbies to places they need to go and faster.
what the fuck did you do to your mask
Just drank a lot of beer and killed a lot of scrapers with the mask on.
So is this Hellmoo reborn? Really looks it.
stillborn is in no way the same world or story if that's what you're asking

you know you have to take the mask off to drink stuff, right?

Yes, but I keep forgetting I have it on and waste half my drink everytime. At this point I think it adds flair to my character haha.

citizens tend to rally up at places where there are things they want, and televisions are among those things. when more shops pop up that sell things that satisfy their needs they'll start crowding other places too.

Do they get stuck there because the store only restocks once in a while?

something like that.
how long until you have a char/login generator?
how long until you have a char/login generator?
that's not a priority until stillborn's not considered in testing. so a long while.

Yeah, I suppose that until creating chars is starting to take too much time it's not much of an issue.

this should make the life of players easier, because everymen fixing the machines that the restaurant relies on for supply means there's more, better food available, and the everymen keep the lights on if they spot any

nakavas is much smaller now, all buildings on the receiving end of a mass demolish got relocated closer to nakavas to make it a more compact area, and makes it easier to navigate.
:snip:
i found out how to use hellcore's web server functionality and the first immediately useful thing i thought of was to make it so that mailing lists could be read outside of the MOO, in case vital information was stored there or people just wanted to check it without having to log into the MOO. publically readable lists like changelog-public/clp, ideas, and bugs can be read from the web browser easily.
i hope to extend this functionality to include help files and whatnot, too.
the gates flyeth open. characters may be requested freely with an e-mail address without me having to do it for you.
Sotla says, "we have a crowbar which is a weapon, a broken lead pipe which is a treasure, and a roll of duct tape which is an adhesive (child of treasure)"
Sotla says, "both the crowbar and lead pipe are classified as medium shafts but are not parented to the same objects, but both will be treated as valid medium shafts because of the new craft tagging system"
Sotla gets out its broken lead pipe.
Sotla hunches over, fiddling with some parts.
You try to figure out how to make a makeshift splint...
You try adding a crowbar.
You try adding a roll of duct tape.
[ You didn't earn any XP for that. ]
You made a makeshift splint out of a broken lead pipe, a crowbar, and a roll of duct tape.
Sotla looks up from its labors and holds up a makeshift splint.
brand new craft tagging system, so we can allow more flexibility of used materials, much like NEO Scavenger:
started working on a sizable amount of new areas for newbies which will become the new starting location. truth is, nakavas is supposed to be WAY scarier than it is and is already in no way a viable newbie starting location. when caldern (the new area) is completed enough to let players run through it, the current clone bank in nakavas will relocate to caldern sector seven. connected to sector seven is hobotown, where people will be able to easily grind their combat skills, fish, collect seaweed for crafting, and other cool shit.
i'm hoping that with caldern created and players able to get started more easily, we'll be able to finetune content creation elsewhere, make nakavas scary like it's supposed to be, and offer some solace for people starting out so the game isn't too horribly unfair.

it's not the big content update that's going to pwipe the MOO for another phase of testing but it's pretty significant -- levelling up in addition to stat IP and a new trait slot now gives you 50 skill IP which you can spend on any skill you wish to improve, providing double the benefit to tagged skills. this compensates for the lack of hellmoo grinding and rewards general XP gain, and makes it feel more like the old school fallout games which is always a plus.
as far as how balanced this kind of system is, we won't really know until it's extensively tested, but i'm happy with the implications of the reworkings
Oh yeah, I like this change.
