I just finished the same area and found it significantly more fun than all of the previous ones because I fucking love to kill reds. And so does everyone else in Hellswamp/Sanddeep. Group up, don't be a bitch. Sorry, that last part was aggressive. Still though, groups are fun, and Hellswamp often has a police force riding around in high conflict and war.

Its fully possible that you were less ganked and more likely just unlucky.

Dish out so much damage in a short amount of time. If i 1v1 someone it usually goes like this fireball>frozen arrow>dropback>fireball>bubbletrap>magic circle>lighting arc>enervate>earthen grip Usually dead by enervate because of the fall damage. Not to mention that you can stealth and stun someone when they get near. Also insulating lens that blocks 1.6k (rank 3?) damage, coupled with Purge your unstoppable. If you stick with DS, get a scepter +shield when you reach level 35+

I've seen exactly three lines of chat not spoken in english, and never any sort of HUE XDs at random

I really wish there was a way to opt-out of the open PVP. Yeah, it makes the game different, yeah it makes it hardcore, but a lot of MMO players just want to fucking quest and its almost impossible when a lot of the higher regions are constantly in conflict and people are just killing you for no reason. They even wait til you're almost dead to attack you and for what? They don't get any honor points.. Only when its at War. I just learned to avoid people at all costs now and I'm just not even going to quest my way to 50 anymore. Just going to down Vocation Tonics and craft my way to 50.

That's actually one of the ways to go, get a single person to hit 50, and have that person guide guildies along the pvp areas. the pros? free honor, and your friend gets to finish his quests.

The PvP zones were absolute hell I would stay in camp and just ask everyone who comes by if they wanted to group quest to get through it quickly, or wait till war happens and try to get as much done as possible during peacetime.

Trust me - I planted trees there (that just got uprooted within a day) and then stole more trees later on today from a guy who went further out near the waterfall in white arden (but generally the same area).

I like breaking out of the boundaries in games to find weird dev content, like way the hell out in the middle of some mountains that I had to do funky glider boost-up-slide crap to scale, there's a few of these tents that are just set up on a flattened area with no NPCs, and no other way up that I can see [t]http://i.imgur.com/wBgn38a.jpg[/t]

This game has some of the worst PvP balance I've ever seen.

The vast majority of classes are simply worse at everything, there's nothing else to it. The incredible grind to change class doesn't help in this regard. It's very true that most classes flat out don't work, but 90% of the time it comes down to teamwork in open world pvp. Top tier gear, potions and food can be said about almost any mmo, while I do agree potions and foods shouldn't be useable in arena. Open world pvp, the main focus is group play and synergy between classes, which the combo system certainly does quite nicely. Paddeh, Jono and I run 1 melee, 1 ranged physical, and 1 healer(myself). Most of our encounters with 3-8 people, we generally come out on top, because of our teamwork. It should be said that 1v1 is generally in favor of whomever strikes first, at least until the point where people start learning how to break out of stun combos etc.

I wish this game would have some kind of nuke to activate, gather all those noobs, blow'em up. On the other hand, I have high respects for "Arrrse", one of the pirate guilds on Kyprosa. Highly functional & organized team, equipped, roaming the seas. I'd feel better getting pillaged by pirates than my own faction members.
