Agree for switching to EU and going to Kyprosa, disagree for Naima, funny for ollo (The only two that don't currently have a queue)
I've been on Aran since the first beta.
So fun when 100 players all have a quest to gather 3 boar meat, and there are 5 boars.
i take it you havent been to the quest where you have to go kill one mob and the kill isnt shared
people were literally queuing for it
So far I'm having a good time. Doing some early theorycrafting with a random guy about what are some good Skillset combos. He's Sorc/Songcraft and I'm Occult/Witchcraft
Is it just me, or does this game cause some extreme pain in your eyes after playing for just a couple of minutes?
I got a fucking key holy shit yes finally
I hope this game is actually fun
Played until level 8 so far. I've been having fun talking to folks and in general I think the combat is fun.
Now that we have an abundance of people playing I think it is a wise idea to explain how PVP works in the game as you will find yourself unsafe when you think you are safe.
Pirates
First lets touch on pirates as they are a big threat to you. Pirates can attack you anywhere there are no safe waters from pirates and no safe zones on land either they can attack you anywhere they like. Many people think they are safe in the "Controlled Zone" waters from pirates but in reality that only protects you from your faction and the enemy faction not pirates. Now like I said pirates can come on land then kill you and take your trade pack if you was carrying one so don't think you are always safe on land keep an eye out. Now the good thing to know is that pirates don't generally come to the east or west islands because they will have built up infamy and if they die on those islands they will go to court. But like I said they can come and kill you if they are brave enough.
Water
As I mentioned water let me properly explain that there is open waters where anyone can murder you and take your trade packs and there is controlled zone water along the shoreline that protect you from your own faction and the enemy faction. Like I said above this does not apply to pirates.
Home continent
When on your home continent if it is peace time your own faction cannot harm you and the enemy faction cannot harm you unless you attack them first. Now when an area has a danger level or says it is at war anyone can kill you so be very careful when in a danger or war zone. Like I said above none of this applies to pirates.
Enemy continent
When on a hostile continent and it is peace time you cannot attack the residents of those islands until they attack you so be careful that nobody is following you in a group they will shank you. Once again does not apply to pirates.
Being a pirate sounds pretty fun.
my compy dies trying to play this game, oh well
I guess I will quickly cover a couple of important things when it comes to theft.
Trade pack theft
Trade packs are a heavy backpack you carry that will slow you down and can be sold. You get a large quantity of an item and craft it into a trade pack then sell it to either a gold trader or Gilda star trader. You can only sell to a Gilda star trader if you sell to a different continent so you will need a ship. If you ever drop a trade pack anybody can steal it so never drop the fuckers ever they are worth good money and people know it.
Boat theft
Something many people don't know is that if you leave the wheel of your boat unattended some motherfucker can grab it can sail off. Your boat cannot permanently be stolen it will de-spawn but will cost you to make it sea worthy again. The reason people nick boats is generally because they have trade packs on them so they will steal the boat then destroy the boat and hand in the trade packs for gold. This is why you have friends you can trust to load and unload the trade packs whilst you man the wheel.
It sucks that I have to work about the whole time the beta is up, including Saturday.
I'm going Kyprosa for you EU nerds
You have chosen wisely.
Look out for Yunero, the level 10 DOOMLORD!
I'm really enjoying the first 15 minutes, but it looks like I will buy myself into the Alpha after the beta. Mostly because I want to go deeper into the game without 200 people fucking around every 10 meters.
So, how does one become a pirate?

So, how does one become a pirate?
Best to wait until you have been and done and seen everything before you become a pirate. Also make sure you have a good warship and are a high level. When you become a pirate you basically lose access to the 2 main continents in the game because it is too dangerous to go there. Anyone can kill you and they don't get crime points for killing you. This also means you cannot have a farm or house unless you have an alt.
But to answer your question to be come a pirate you need to reach 3000 infamy points. To gain infamy points take a look at this: http://www.gamersheroes.com/game-guides/become-pirate-archeage/
The game is fun but i really don't like the free2play deal. I'm sure they'll tweak that though after launch to get people a chance to properly try out the game.
I gave it a run up to Level 10 and made an Arcanist (Sorcery, Witchcraft, Auramancy) and the combat is fun and it looks to have lots of potential if there is a way to level up without having to do all the questing. Not sure about how it'll treat F2P'ers and if it'll be worth it unless you get Patron status.
The cars on Mirage Isle are fun as hell to test-drive. I accidentally drifted off a cliff.
So how do you get boats? Currently level 18 and all i wanna do is just go sail.
So how do you get boats? Currently level 18 and all i wanna do is just go sail.
I started on the west island and I got a rowboat around level 8.
I love how all the people from WoW and other themepark MMOs don't understand the fact that you just don't *get* a house or farm from questing, and how PvP can be anywhere. I jacked some dude's boat and sold his shit off of it and he kept whispering me telling me how I can't do that and he'll get me banned for doing so.
b-but you can't just TAKE things
thats mean
Did you have any witty replies for him?
Did you have any witty replies for him?
I wish. I just told him to eat it :v:
Well that's a shame. What did you do with his boat afterwards?
I sailed it around for a bit but then some pirates attacked me. I left it out in the ocean, the pirates might of sunk it. I don't think he'll be sailing anytime soon.
It has been sitting like this for a hour

Just got there, I really wish it would say what it was actually doing in a infobox. (Unpacking, etc)
I don't really feel like doing all the quests and stuff. What level do you need to be to go about crafting or more importantly, experiencing PvP?
So i got to play with Ross from Game Grumps just a little bit ago! It was awesome
