I kind of hate fighting the camera and movement in this game more than anything. Your character rotates slower than a tank with the A and D keys, but you can lock your camera using the right mouse button. However, that becomes inconvenient when you are in combat. Imagine you are in a field, rotating toward a target (without any animation because there is no time), then you have to release the right mouse button, move your mouse over to the target and then hitting the left mouse button to target it. The amount of UI elements in the way makes targeting a lot harder as well, as I keep clicking my chat or quest log accidentally. Still, beta is, in fact, beta and I hope it gets reworked in the future.
This game looks like a dream but i seriously fucking hate this style of combat A first person version of this would make my orgasm have orgasm's
That sounds like a terrible idea.

Why would they rework that, when it actually works okay?

I don't know if it is because it's been a while since I've played an MMO, but I just find the controls a bit annoying to deal with. The last MMO I've played (or at least tried out) has been Elder Scrolls Online, which has a bit more clever way of doing it by giving you a crosshair and hiding most of the UI elements. However, I'd be happy if there just were a way to bump up the turning speed on the player when using the A and D keys, as it does feel a bit slow.

Turn with your mouse, while holding right mouse button. You will rarely need A and D actually, they're mostly for precise movement. As for your skills, use the 1-0 shortcuts instead of clicking and targetting manually.
SO should i be blazing along the green quest, while doing quests that reward armor and weapons right? I also bought the best glider because i though i'd be able to use it. Nope.

If I were to ever get my own ship, how would I keep it safe? Is there some place you can dock the ship and it's kept safe and no one else can access it there? [editline]sadfns[/editline]
I also bought the best glider because i though i'd be able to use it. Nope.
If you don't have the experimental glider, then you'd either need to do some quest around level 11, or craft it yourself, I imagine that would cost a bit though. After you obtain the experimental glider, you can get the designs for Improved, Enhanced and Ultimate at Mirage Isle. Then use the Vocational Crafting - Machining at a Carpentry Workbench to upgrade them, starting with experimental to Improved to Enhanced to Ultimate. Is this very different from Alpha? I'm in the beta.

[editline]31st July 2014[/editline] Me and Jonoporter are working together to build a ship I have bought the blueprints to make a harpoon cutter. We have the iron but lack the wood and wool right now.

Been playing the beta a bit, and if questing is the worst part of this game, then color me impressed. I even like the combat system. The large amount of customization with movesets is pretty neat.

Also, how different is Alpha from Beta? I find it strange that Alpha is a still running thing, maybe just too used to how other games does it.

The alpha server is for top tier founders only and it is different in the fact that there are not too many people everywhere. Jonoporter found an empty spot of land for his farm right near mine today so that was handy.
Is the Alpha like a constantly running server with no patching, or does it also update now and then.
Is the Alpha like a constantly running server with no patching, or does it also update now and then.
The alpha servers are always up unless a patch is being deployed it stays updated with the beta servers. The alpha servers will not go down when the game launches they will become the test servers so people don't lose all of their characters so many people are level 50 now with everything.
That's neat
Sandbox.
What did you do to even be sent to jail in the first place? Besides the above, of course
It wasn't me who was on trial. I just didn't have trial chat turned off.
godamn the rowboat is so slow :v: Still, i went from the continent at the left in the middle of that cove bit to the island in the middle at the top and back, took about 40 mins or so. Very very cool feeling of a vast ocean, really reminds me of older Final Fantasy games.

They even let me tag along on their boat when they reached the shore. We didn't leave the coast, so there weren't any pirates, but it was cool to travel on a small journey like that.
Just hit lvl 30, time to farm for a boat
The all chat is cancer in this game, all it seems to be is idiots moaning about the free to play elements. Really enjoying the sandbox elements but at times while levelling it can feel like a huge grind, nice to come back to the farm though and do abit of crafting.
So to those who have it, do you think patron status is worth it? I'd totally want to start a farm and stuff.
It is, but I don't actually understand the farming? I'll take the time to learn closer to release
Alright guys I want an opinion here, is the $50 price tag worth it for this or am I better off just waiting till its out, I caved and payed for the war thunder tonks beta and that was a bit of a waste so im rather on the fence about this one.

I think it's worth it. Hit level 45, trying to reach 50 by the time I go to bed, I have 2 easy levels via using all my labor on deep sea mining that I want to do at around 47.5-48
So how is this game? Is it worth playing? Can you build your own houses and shit yet?
