You can also get up steep hills using a glider.
Got into this game recently since my friends did. I'm about level 11, really liking it so far.
Rolling a bard cleric kinda thing. Already converted a Remove Kebab MIDI to the sheet music format the game uses. Can't wait to compose that bitch.
If you go vit + songcraft prepare to be perpetually useless due to having the worst possible skill combo
The stories on this thread are really fun to read. Please more :D
I'm currently level 19, and this game is really fun. Still having hard time learning all kinds of stuff though.
I'm planning on watching the videos on r/ArcheAge's FAQ. Are there better ones that I should be watching? or reading.
Well I got myself a beta key. So what server/nation/etc should I get in to join the facepunch guild (if one exists). It's been a long time since I played one of these MMOs so I still need to get my bearings.

There is no FP guild in the beta.
I'm probably gonna lay off playing for a bit, at least until jono gets back. Maybe even until release, most likely going to play Templar, or Hierophant on release. So I'm gonna set up for sick heals and support.
Also all of you has to play dwarves so I can be Gandalf.
I'm a bit annoyed because I made 14 trade packs, didn't have the time to transport them all, since I only have a clipper, so I put them on my property. Try to sign on the next day, and the game has apparently uninstalled itself and has to reinstall. And when it finishes, it reinstalls again. And again. So I spent several days unable to play. Finally get back on just a few minutes ago and, despite being pretty sure I haven't been gone that long, my trade packs had expired.

That's annoying. But i've learned that you can pick them up, and then put them back down to reset the expiration timer.

Hiero is 2 good
Did not do any piracy yesterday but I made progress with my lands.
I decided I wanted to have a 16x16 farm now but I did not want to take down my house so I acquired a 16x16 spot right near my house. This meant I now had an 8x8 and two 16x16 plots all near each other and decided I no longer needed the 8x8 so I turned it into a farmers workstation and put it outside my house.

The farmers work station is great because it gives you access to the vocation badges shop right from your home. It also allows you to craft loads of things but most importantly you can make Eco-Friendly fuels with it.

On my new 16x16 farm I planted 24 Jujube trees that will yield a minimum of 48 and a maximum of 96 Jujubes. In the spaces between I grew Mushrooms to make medicinal powder from. You can see just how close my house is. (The wooden house)

I used the farming space outside my house to grow Azalea and Narcissus.

I use these things as it allows me to make trade packs in the Solis Headlands and sell them to Two Crowns. Each trade pack will bring in 30 gold as you get Charcoal Stabilizers from the packs and I use them to craft Opaque polish and then Sturdy ingots. This means each harvest brings in a minimum of 120 gold to a maximum of 270 gold. You end up with an odd number of Jujubes each time so every other harvest you can make an extra trade pack.
The trade rout takes 14 minutes from the moment you leave Two Crowns to the moment you get back with the trade pack you make in Solis. The reason this is so quick and safe is because there is almost nothing but the specialty workbench and housing where you make the pack. The docks the Haranyans hang out at is further north. On average it is 5 minutes to sail there then 4 minutes on land then another 5 minutes to sail back. And of course once you get to Two Crowns nobody can kill you handing in the pack.

I wish they'd make the justice system severely harsher, I'm fine with crops planted in public areas to not be protected but if the only punishment of stealing a whole bunch of plants and killing a bunch of people is spending a few minutes afk in the prison then the justice system is effectively useless at stopping people from committing crimes, there's more gain in crimes than there's penalties
And if the trial chat is any indication, most judges are a fucking joke
I just got an email thanking me for purchasing a gift code for the Archeums Founders Pack
:DDD
EXCEPT I DIDN'T FUCKING PURCHASE ANY GIFT CODE
I think someone got onto my account and bought the fucking archeum pack god damnit
Luckily the code hadn't been used yet and I applied it to my account, contacting support now.

The crime penalty system does need reworking but I will admit that if punishments were harsher and people stole crops less often the world would start to fill up with plants everywhere pretty quick. Depending on the severity of punishments anyway.
One thing I would be for is making it so that if you commit a crime you get a debuff that works like going onto the enemy continent so that anyone can attack you for awhile after committing a crime and they will receive honor points for doing it. They could also make it so that any freshly stolen goods you have on you will drop if someone kills you in this state and they will be given the option to pick them up and get the debuff or have them auto mailed back to the original owner. This way once you steal something you will want to get to your warehouse or storage chests asap without being seen and once it has been placed in there you lose the debuff and the items can no longer be dropped if killed. If that sounds too harsh make it so the debuff only happens if the foot steps get reported before you put the stolen goods in storage. There could also be a cool off period on the goods once in storage before they go back to being classed as not stolen.
This would also make it much harder to pirate on the seas as you have to choose carefully where you take the trade pack to turn it in if you took it from someone of the same faction.
Get a Snowmane Snowlion they are incredibly fast.

They move at 10.1 and have 2 speed boosts. The first is the standard 50% faster but the second will propel you further and faster than any other mount and also makes you invincible for 3 seconds. If you want speed this is by far the best mount to go for.
They nerfed them in beta they are now slower than horses..
They nerfed them in beta they are now slower than horses..
A shame it was so quick. Thankfully that change has not made it to the Alpha servers yet.

True, but the problem right now is that crime is always the best option, people never stop to think "Is it worth going to jail for this?". The only thing that's stopped me from stealing things so far (well I probably wouldn't have done it anyway cause it's a dick move, but still) is that I didn't have enough labor to do it, but patrons don't have that problem I'm told
A bounty system would be great, if you steal other people's stuff they can put a bounty on you and bounty hunters can attack you even in the starter zones. I'm actually surprised that this doesn't exist already
Bounty hunting would be sick and it would give way for a whole new bunch of guilds too.
I hate how bad some MMO's run, mainly this one.
I get it's in Alpha but yknow, whenever i go into a town and the game like stutter loads like mad sucks.
Eh i turned some settings down made it bearable but it's odd.
But i'm having fun, sailing around a lot is rather calming, the water is beautiful in this game
For me it's running fine.
Make sure you run it in DX9 and disable Antialiasing
For me it's running fine.

Runs fine fps wise, i'm talking about load in stutter, i.e walking in an area full of people, new place etc, loading on the fly.
My SSD helps a tad but i dunno. DX9 is on.
So uh, i just noticed that Archeage has been removed from Steam Store. Anyone know what's up with that?

That is odd, and I can confirm that this is the case. It's odd though because the trailers are still there.
So from my beta experience ( got to level 15 dident crafted or did anything other than quests )... Is there really anything else there? combat was bland as shit and i dont know if it was me or my settings but christ the UI covers up a shitton of space on my screen, felt confused most of the time too...

Could be this:
http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/08/26/archeage-players-hit-with-unauthorised-transactions-from-trion-worlds
What happened in the last few hours is sadly nothing new: Every day, bots obtain user credentials from various unprotected sites around the Internet, build lists of login and passwords, and try them on Trion’s servers (along with many other sites). If players consistently use simple or repeated passwords across different online services, these bots may get access to their accounts. Because of the current momentum around ArcheAge, hundreds of millions of such attempts were made from well over a million different IP addresses in the last few weeks, only a fraction of which ended up being successful today.
At 22 I got bored of questing and getting gear, so I found a group and went pirating with them. Honestly if you don't have a group of people to play with the game is boring as shit.
How can I get taxes so I can jam my house into the 4x4 square of land you can actually put a house down in?
How can I get taxes so I can jam my house into the 4x4 square of land you can actually put a house down in?
I think what you are asking is "How can I get tax certificates?" Well fear not as thankfully they are one of the easiest things to obtain in the game. You can buy tax certificates with almost any form of currency in the game even including labor points. You can buy them with gold, credits, loyalty points and labor points. You cannot buy them with guild stars and vocation badges.
Here is how you obtain them using the different currencies
Gold: Go the Auction House and search for tax certificates and there will be pages of people selling them. Alternatively type in that that you want to buy them for a competitive price.
Credits: Open up the Marketplace then select the "Land" tab and on the first page you will see "Bound Tax Certificates" you can purchase with credits. Note these tax certificates cannot be traded or sold to other players only used by you.
Loyalty Points: Open up the Marketplace then select the "Loyalty" tab and on the first page you will see "Bound Tax Certificates" you can purchase with loyalty points. Note these tax certificates cannot be traded or sold to other players only used by you.
Labor Points: Go up to any property belonging to anyone be it any type of house or farm and press "H" and a crafting window will appear (permissions do not apply). You can then craft "Tax Certificates" with labor points. These can be traded and sold.
