So how do I get to play this game, isn't it open beta today? [editline]16th September 2014[/editline] help im dumb and stupid i havent played anything in a long time
The game starts publicly in 3.30 hours (forgot it was summertime)
3 and a half hours from this post And plenty hours more cause the servers are going to get hammered and you won't be able to login
I just got my lumber pack stolen off me.. Ganked by 2 lvl 50s.
how group friendly is the questing in this?
does someone know much of the limits of free player account restrictions? I saw a video comment on labor points and how they regenerate over time (1 every 5 minutes?), whilst gathering something and opening a bag of gold apparently took up something like 15 points (75 minutes of energy??). does this feel like a huge monkey on your back to go spend money on a subscription? I know they say "it's not going to be pay2win" but if it's suffering from the same antics we see in free phone games it sounds like it's still going to be pay-not-to-be-fucking-worthless also the catgirl default faces look like terrifying repainted bratz dolls and [as of beta] didn't even seem capable of blinking their eyes fully closed. Any changes? I'd like to try making one look not like a posessed toy
You get 5 labor points every 5 minutes, you'll never compete with a patron but you can play the game just fine. The only mechanical limitation is you can't own land. They said both of these things may change sometime after release The character creation is very deep so yeah you can get rid of the animu eyes on your character at least. Or you can do this [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/6kcPgFn.png[/thumb]
any game that lets me do that is OK in my books
Servers went down until launch we are 1 hour and 28 minutes from this post. With luck they might add a couple more servers too.
do we have a go-to server for the group? also the fact it won't let people install until it releases is going to wreak havok on the servers when it goes live, and you won't see free players til much later in the day (granted I won't even be home to touch it for another 6 or 7 hours after launch) [t]http://i.imgur.com/Qc4act8.png[/t]
Aw boo I was just about to go on an iron gathering trip.
do we have a go-to server for the group?
If you are playing on EU then pick Kyprosa. Most users are also Nuians (Western continent) and our guild is called the Fabulous Privateers although we do fly the FP logo as our crest. Playing from america shouldn't cause any problems either as during the alpha the servers was set in the US and many of us including myself are from the EU and we did not seen to have any problems. There are people playing on US servers I think but I don't know who.

how group friendly is the questing in this?

On launch it will be rather friendly you will probably get spammed with raid invites that go up to 50 people. This will be helpful for doing the starter quests. People will normally happily join you or invite you anyway if you both have a common goal in the game. I have yet to see someone tell you to bugger off if that is what you mean.

It's a very mixed bag. I'd lean towards it being more unfriendly than friendly and its definitely something they should look into as the game goes on. Particularly single item gather quests/boss mobs etc. are something that are a constant issue, mobs slightly less so because they are usually shared.

If you guys need any FAQ updates like server info in the OP just let me know, or if it's preferred we could close this so an active member can maintain a fresh one
It's a very mixed bag. If you are in a group and you both have the quest to kill a guy you will both complete the quest for working together. If he drops a loot item on death you will both get that too. Items you have to pick up just lying around in the world however can only be picked by one person at a time and have very varying timers before they appear again. If anyone else wants to do it that would be great.
I'd have picked Kyprosa if it didn't seem like the 'extremely busy go to server' for pretty much everyone. It always seemed to have a queue as well while the others often didn't.

[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/oCNr3Qz.jpg[/thumb] Somewhere in that blob there is a table with a tiny device on top of it. It despawns each time someone interacts with it then respawns after maybe 3-4 seconds.
People line up when that happens... ...usually.
If they are sensible, yes. Knowing how the average MMO works however, I have my doubts.
There are definitely areas of questing that NEED to be changed but as an overall the system is ok. Also people do queue more often than you would think generally after the majority of the people there have all been there for more than 30 minutes. It is annoying but I understand why the devs have not done it as this whole problem becomes nonexistent within 2-3 days of launch.
It's out, I'm downloading it. [editline]16th September 2014[/editline] Holy fuck 28GBs.
It's out, I'm downloading it. [editline]16th September 2014[/editline] Holy fuck 28GBs.
Really? Mine says 8.58 GB. I suppose 8.58GB is the "initial" download, then?

I have been playing the headstart for the 4 days and I am literally only like an hours gameplay from completing the quests on the western continent. Until they expand the world more anyway.
Well guess the servers aren't being as pummeled as I thought they would be, downloading at 6MB/s. [editline]16th September 2014[/editline]
Really? Mine says 8.58 GB. I suppose 8.58GB is the "initial" download, then?
Yeah it said 8GBs to me too but then it said I didn't have enough space and needed 28GBs.
Ah, yeah. Well I have 400 GB free so that certainly wasn't an issue for me.
Where the hell am i going to find a housing area, everything is gone :S

Launch delayed by an hour: https://twitter.com/ArcheAge/status/511922967102504960 Good news is 2 new servers will be added.
