Any ship in the same class as that Disco is about as good an escort as a roast potato. Not to mention that the AI is stupid. I don't know why they're called fighters at all, when their only practical usage is as a scout.
They are more useful in numbers and can be pretty effective as a light escort in squads of four or more. That and they're good at getting around ships with slower firing guns because they're hard to hit. Ever try hitting a fully tuned NPC Harrier with only HEPTs? It's extremely frustrating and takes damn near forever.
I freaking love the music in this game, The music in Argon Prime is so soothing. The main theme is awesome too. I can't find the files though, anyone know where they are?
Yeah X2 and X3 have both had fantastic soundtracks, I've actually copied all the music files into my playlist because they're all mp3s. Also I found out that if you put the X2 disc in a cd player it plays the soundtrack. Doubt that'd work with x3 since it's on a dvd, plus I got it on steam anyway.
Just got X3 TC today, not very good so far because off my terrible videocard that I have right now, should be getting a new one next week.

Really you should be able to run the game find on a decent mid range card, it's really your CPU and RAM that matters in this game.

I am getting another 2Gbs of RAM this week and my new videocard, my 8600GT overheated while I was still playing Reunion and Reunion could handle all high with high FPS, this can't even handle all low with more than a steady 10 fps.

But the reason I don't use them for non-scout work is that they die so easily. I'd want something with more survivability, like some M4s or an M3. The only thing I'd feel really comfortable letting in the hands of the AI and trusting with its survival would be something like an M6. I'm a bit paranoid about my ships dying, yes, but who wants the replacement cost?

Everyone should get this script or you are messing out on a lot of cool scenes that this game can produce! http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=225928 It allows the Races to declare war on each other and make alliances and they send fleets to take over the enemy's sectors and destroy stations and start building their own, It's an amazing script!
Sounds freaking awesome
It shows what systems have been captured and shows who had and just captured them in real time at the bottom of the screen, also sends you a message telling you what Races just declared war or made an Alliance.

Like, can it play in favor of or against you? I don't want to use it and have my game in which I'm really just starting harder :( Read the thread, holy shit, downloading.
Has the shitty voice commanding been improved yet? Haven't played this game since I played it one after I got it because of that.
This is pissing me off. I swear, it always seems to happen. I jump in through a gate, and immediately get hit by another ship jumping in, and blow up. I had just gone through 4 sectors, finally got to the one I was going for, and get hit, blowing up. Fucking shitty fuck, I can't play this game anymore tonight, I give up.

Unfortunately I forgot that it doesn't remember where in the gate disc you jumped from, so I appeared right in the centre of the frigate and exploded.
In my game the Terrans are losing the Solar System but are taking over all of Argon Space right now :D This is an epic mod.

If the lights strobe away from the gate it means there is a ship coming through from the other side of the gate. If they strobe towards the gate then that indicates a ship going through from your side of the gate. Unfortunately the game probably doesn't mention this enough. If there is too much traffic for the lights to be reliable indicator than use autopilot to go through the gate. I forget how exactly it works, but there is a certain pattern by which NPC ships pass through gates in order to minimize the probability of collisions. If you use autopilot going through the gate then the game will treat you like any other NPC ship passing through and you're ship will follow the same pattern the other ships are following so you're less likely to collide with another ship.
I find that strange considering that the Terrans not only have the stupidly overpowered ATF ships but also a nice little choke point in Asteroid Belt.
It can not withstand the power of the Paranid Empire! (Don't ask me how they got over there.)

Hey anyone have a nice comprehensive guide since I just got the game and am still struggling to grasp its concepts and everything else?
:krad:
That and the main title theme on the menu are my favorites.
I've always liked the music in the core sectors. It's by far the most diverse, and it has some fantastic tunes. The problem is outside the core sectors it's mostly just from the same small selection of ambient gunk, and it gets repetetive. And the menu music in TC isn't nearly as good. Just some orchestral shite. Edit: Oh, and this is another of my favourites. It's the music from Home of Light.
I just got this game and I mean damn I under estimated the difficulty of this game. I just started with the Terrans and I am so far over my head :)
Ok, I should have my new hardware this week so soon I will be able to play X3 TC without taking 5 minutes to load systems :o
Should I get this game? I'm getting a bunch of games because of the steam sale and I was wondering if this would be one of them.
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes YES. Edit: Yes.
Did we mention, YES? EDIT: Starting the Final Fury mission now, those bastard Xenon keep attacking my poor little adv. Eclipse, which i got from: [sp]"Ocacokes Storm" x - 30 y - -1 z - -8[/sp]
