Why the advanced one.... unless it's been fixed in a patch it has half the shielding and even less speed.

Original has 200MJ of shielding, among the best there is for a fighter. And it's a bit faster, with a bigger cargo bay.

Edit:
Also, I've been considering getting a Heavy Nemesis to replace my P. Good ship? What do you guys think of it?
Bein' playing X3 alot this week, considering i lost internet for a while. So far i think i'm doing pretty well...
After 9 days of game time (incl. SETA) i have got:
1. Argon Federation Guardian (highest rank) 18%
2. Boron Kings Protectorate (2nd highest rank) 70 odd %
3. Teladi Something, (the 3rd highest rank) at about 94%
-I have also bought myself a Teladi Shreik, now all i need to do is get enough rank with those bastard Split to get a few nice little PBE's.
I have finished the Goner and the Terran plotlines, i am about half way (or a bit more) in Opperation Final Fury, and i have just alligned the 1st gate for the Hub. (I now need to get around 150,000 Teladianiam for that Boron)
Haven't had time to play recently, need to get back in and work on my empire.
I still need help. Is there a beginner's guide?
I've got a few hours left of downloading time (shitty internets D:<) and then it'll be done. One question (to anyone who's seen stargate): Is there ways to like launch drones, sort of like the Wraith Hiveships in Stargate Atlantis? If so, awesome. :D
There are drones available. They cost a bit though.

Yes, you can unlaunch a flurry of little fighter drones who fly around at mad speed and fire peashooters at the enemy, providing a nice distraction while you run away.
Or if you want to kill agressors and rape the corpses, the MKII fighter drone can mash things up real nice, not just keep them distracted. The problem is, it's not produced or sold anywhere, but some traders magically have an amount of them while they fly around trading.
I love this game with a passion, i restarted about 2 weeks ago on TC and i'm sitting in my Tiger M7 trying to find some damn CIGs so i can actually hurt a cap ship :P
I can take out other M7s easily, but i made the mistake of ramming one and launching a hammerhead at the same time, needless to say i got made very dead.
If your still having performance problems and are using Vista try plugging in a USB flash drive and using it as a ReadyBoost device and see what happens.
If your framerate gets noticably higher then the problem is not your graphics card, and you may have to get more RAM.
I know, ReadyBoost is supposedly piss useless for gaming, but some people actually get a noticable performance increase in this game when using it due to the rather odd way this game utilizes memory.
Yeah i get pretty poor performance, it was good on X3:R until i went SETA and my graphics settings were medium to high. On TC i can barely play medium to low. They added a lot of new sectors and ships and everything to the game so i', 90% sure my CPU is just shit. Single core 3GHZ
Another thing to try would be to start a new game and compare performance in the same sector with your saved game.
If the new game shows much better performance than your saved game, then there might be a sector or two somewhere in your saved game that is spawning ships uncontrollably and gradually eating up more processing power and memory over time.
It's not very common and the recent patches should have already fixed this, but it probably wouldn't hurt to check for it anyway.
A small performance decrease of a few frames per second is normal since obviously a game that has been played for a while will have more stuff going on than a new game. However, if your saved game is getting 15fps and starting a new game gets you 60fps then something might be going wrong.

CIG factories here:http://eng.x3tc.ru/x3_tc_map/factory-list.php?s=concussion+impulse+generator+forge
http://eng.x3tc.ru/ is rather useful by the way
So are the ships in this customisable? Because I've been looking to buying the X3 pack over steam, and if it's only customizable guns rather than customizable looks and everything then I'll be really dissapointed.

I've gone to every sector in the game looking for them, i think the GoD system took them out for some reason. I know the pirates like to kill the ones in Lucky Planets :(
But yeah i spent about 4000 on e-cells jumping around yesterday and only found 2x Ion-D for capping
Is this one easier to learn that the other one?

You can't drastically alter how the ships look. About the only thing you can do in this regard is change the color and mount different weapons that show up on your ship.
However, if that the lack of such a specific freature would ruin your enjoyment of a game then this probably isn't your kind of game to begin with.
Guess you could manufacture them yourself if you're sure the existing factories are all gone.
What do you have in the way of complexes/factories right now, by the way?
Is this one easier to learn that the other one?
Yes, but not by much.
If you found X3: Reunion to be completely unplayable then you probably won't find this one much better.
If you don't own this game and you're considering buying it, do it. Don't be one of those people who plays for 5 minutes then comes and bitches because they don't understand. It's not rocket science, use your brain, look around, read the manual. (The Manual has some stuff in it that didn't make it into the final game though) It's an awesome game once you get the basics down, sure it isn't shoot shoot kill kill 24/7 but really, are you going to die by being deprived of violence for 15 minutes? SO BUY THIS GAME
Hmm, I capped three Xenon L's earlier today, sold two and kept the one with the full shields. Now I just need to find somewhere to buy weaponry for them. Also, the Terran MQ for me is fucked. I just went to the pirate base, scanned it, and then it said "talk to: <invalid>", and pointed to the pirate base. The pirate base, and some factories around it are all red as enemies (weren't before I scanned it). After I couldn't figure out what the fuck to do, I went back, escorted all of my Xenon L's to the Mars shipyard, and sold two for about 1m profit. Now, my question stands: Where do I find some decent places to buy weaponry? I've only discovered up to about the PNHH (sp?) HQ and the Unknown Sector. I'm past the Asteroid Belt after Uranus, too. Also, is the Xenon L any good? From what I've seen it seems to be pretty decent as it supports PPCs, but I'll really have to find out after I get it equipped (refer to earlier question).

Mars? Uranus? Sol is in this game? Where!?
Mars? Uranus? Sol is in this game? Where!?
Start a game as a Terran player. There's all of Sol (I believe).

Oooh that's what those different games are for...hmmm.
Isn't the Earth system supposed to be off limits, though?
Oh, and apparently because I'm an Instructor class combat pilot with an Elite, I'm supposed to be some godly pilot that can tackle a fleet of Pirate Osprey's on average difficulty patrols. >:|
Also, I might go into the jobs script and take out half of the spawns so that my CPU stops crapping itself. If it works, I'll share it.

I'm not saying it'd ruin my enjoyment, it's just I prefer space sims where the ships are completely customizable.

You can still go to our solar system if you're on any start, just go to Omicron Lyrae and keep heading north.
There is a planet access system in the solar system - if you go to a planet/moon that's off limits and don't listen to the warning you'll get a sizeable battle group jammed up your ass. Before the Terran (main) plot you're not allowed in any of the inner rocky dwarf planets, but the rest of the system is open for access.
But some starts can't do the Terran plot at all...

I suppose they might make nice wingmen, or a nice replacement for an M4 ship. The 75MJ of shielding is average for the class, but the laser recharge is pretty shit, so you'll find it pretty restrictive. The Perseus has the same speed, a turret, lots more energy recharge, and better weapon compatibility.

I used to take on ospreys in an M3, they're quite easy if you have the firepower and aren't being gang raped by a million fighters at once.
Xenon and khaak corvettes are even easier. Centaurs are probably the hardest.
How do you engage in space battles? The first and only fight I was in I couldn't figure out how to target my enemies let alone get them to stop moving so I can actually hit them! I did the tutorial thing but that didn't exactly help me.
Incase anyones curious the reason I was in a fire fight was because I accidentally shot a Casino Ship with a missle, and then with my lasers. I'm still getting used to the new interface, i'm so used to X2: The threat and even then I was like "what the hell?" when it came to fights.
If you head out to pirate sectors, you can find pirates.
If you head out to pirate sectors, you can find pirates.
But how do I fight them? They move way to fast for me to target them with anything. I know missiles can track, but lasers can't.
