I've played X2 and X3, loved them both.. is Terran Conflict different enough in gameplay however to warrant me spending like $80 to get? (That's going to be like 8 weeks worth of cash because I have a shitload of other more essential supplies to buy)
X3: Reunion and X3: Terran Conflict have many different changes. Gameplay is pretty much the same, but things like story, and everything else are different. Stuff like M6+, M4+, and a few other ship types are avaliable in Terran Conflict as well as the Aldrin Missions. Trading and combat remain the same. (Appart from new weapons, a few new missiles and ships) EDIT: Going to go out and buy an M2 now, then I am going to finish the Final Fury Missions. Damn they are hard...
Man, when are Steam going to update it.. Still waiting for the latest GRID patch too. :(

Anyone know by chance where to get a Alpha Photon Pulse Cannon? All i can find in Terran Conflict is a normal PPC, no variants. Problem is, ships like the Split Elephant can only use "Alpha", but as far as i can tell this weapon no longer exists in the game? Did they remove weapon variants from TC and in the process forgot to edit the ships? And why are my universe traders 90% of the time stuck on Standby? I hate that crap, same thing happens in Reunion. They should be out trading and earning me money! Even with 20 UTs my income barely scrapes in at 300k an hour with SETA on x10. Ridiculous.

Ridiculous.
The PPC no longer has varients in Terran Conflict, so if a ship can mount PPCs the normal ones should work. Most of the "Alpha", "Beta", "Gamma" varients of weapons have been removed in Terran Conflict and were replaced by different weapons. (Example: BPAC and AHEPT varients were removed and the gap is now filled by the Phased Repeater Gun and Energy Bolt Chaingun)
And you can also charge up the PPCs now too, so you can get a more, bigger, painful burst of pure kill... ...And this also works with the Point Singularity Projector too. I don't know what else, but so far, that is all I have discovered. Now I need to get 750,000 Crystals to re-align the 2nd set of gates!
If you're seeing something that can apparently use "Alpha PPC" then you must have Cmod3 installed. That mods the CIG to be an alpha PPC.

The UTs in Reunion should be able to make some good profits on their own. You should be making a lot more than that with that many traders. Either your using a mod thats messing them up or you're not managing them properly. As for Terran Conflict, there is a known bug that causes UTs to get stuck in Standby a lot, but it's supposedly fixed in 2.0.
Damn. How the hell am I supposed to get 750,000 crystals?! Can anyone tell me?
I finished Final Fury yesterday, and the Aldrin Expansion missions this morning, and all I can say is I am impressed the the [sp]Terran Jumpgate![/sp] [sp]They look so cool, pitty there is only one though (the one going out to Unknown Terran Sector 2)[/sp]
Damn steam still hasn't got the 2.0 update. How big is the update anyway?
Valve :argh: Wheres mah 2.0
Valve usually doesn't release patches on weekends so it probably won't be on Steam until at least Wednesday.
2.0 is around 100-200mb. Just a sec. EDIT: Ok, here is the 2.0a patch (2.0a is the same as 2.0 just not corrupt): 1.4 - 2.0a: 162mb 1.0.1 - 2.0a: 197mb Ands a heads up, they are already talking about 2.1, it is somewhere around the Egosoft website, but you need to answer an Easter Riddle on the front page...
EGOSOFT and the forums' crew wish you Happy Easter! :) As every year, we put the Easter Bunny into a space suit, stored some insider information in his cargobay and abandoned him somewhere in the forums to hide this information. This year there is further information about 2.1, and according to some rumours it could contain a new mission developed by community members. We were able to convince Ketraar to design a couple of astonishing wallpapers to give you a glance what you might expect for the update 2.1. Friendly as the Easter bunny (one of his alias is Carlo the Curious I heard) is, he has left us a few hints. However, he enciphered them. If you can decode them, you might find something really surprising. ;) 1: Even the most venerable warrior sometimes needs the advice from other comrades. Don't be afraid of listening to their hints, and be brave enough to look down into the abyss' heart. 2: Search the wide Universe Hex quadrant 6B1. You shall see the one reffering to a game with Kings, Knights and Pawns. 3: The easter bunny told me, that these last words from the Boron Bala Gi in addition with those strange bunch of numbers and the great emptiness of space could help you to find an easter egg. I just bought a load of spaceweed from a teladi dealer. This peace is just fantastic, I can't imagine how I lived without it in the past. It just feels like being in heaven... Oh, what a nice fluffy asteroid, it looks like it wants to hug me. 167 -48 -89 +4 +8 +135 -1 +31 /207 +24 +2 -19 +9 +15 +2 +42 -0 +131 +24 +5 -2 -119 4: Some say an easter egg search is like a small treasure hunt. True enough, both may have their rewards if you look in the right part of the universe. 5: And finally he told me, that this logentry also could help you... One day, long after I first entered the X-Universe, I encountered many new ships. But to my surprise, they didn't have cockpits, and even after searching for an age there was still no sign of them. But, finally, a vision from the godfather enlightened me. Aron Danna - Flight log 51 And now, have fun with the Easter Egg hunt and Happy Easter! :) Your Easter...err Ogerboss
If anyone else wants to have a go at translating this, here is the thread: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=242571
Is anyone here skilled/have any knowledge of the Mission Director? I would like to learn how to use it. Could anyone here send me in the right direction...?
Does the 2.0 patch actually let TC use your video card? Because before I tried playing, and it was completely unplayable, Especially when looking at an HQ, single digit framerates, below 5 even,The GPU usage was ziltch, nada, zero, while CPU, Ram and all of that was being used normally.... is this fixed now?
I am not to sure, although I am sure it runs faster on my system. I will take a look around the Egosoft Forums... EDIT: I couldn't find anything, sorry.

I'm quite sure TC lets you use your video card...every game does. It works fine for me on my 4870, granted it's somewhat laggy, but not nearly as bad as you're saying.
Well wow. I just built a 36-million fighter drone complex, and they're certainly violent the little buggers. I tossed 50 of them at a pirate Carrack while trying to board it and they did all the shield suppression for me. Then I found out my squaddies didn't have enough facking mechanical skill. That combined with the fact I accidentally shot one of my own marines was cause for a reload. I can't wait to build an MKII complex. A freighter could now be the deadliest ship in the universe.
So is this game worth getting on Steam? because the X3 subforum on steampowered is full of complaints of how buggy the game is. And there's close to zero youtube movies with actual gameplay of this game :\.
Have they fixed the 8800 GT Terran station lag problems?
Terran Station Lag problems? I never really got any lag with the Terran Stations, but since the new update I can run around Terran Sectors with no lag at all. So I think the answer would be a "possibly". EDIT: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type=&search_query=X3+TC&aq=f There are alot of video competition entries there, as for gameplay videos: http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=X3%3A+Terran+Conflict+Gameplay+Videos You should find one there. Or, if you can't find one there, here is a ship flying around Uranus shooting things, is that enough of a "gameplay video" for you?
Have they fixed the 8800 GT Terran station lag problems?
It should be ok for now. If you're still having a problem then I recommend looking through the support section of the Egosoft forums, as there quite a number of things that can cause this game to lag more than it should and there's a good chance it might be something not related to your video card.
Because im sci-fi obsessed and homeworld 2 stopped working, i really want this...
You should really want this. And, does anyone want to have the honors of posting some screenshots? If not, I will...

I'll post some screenshots later, this game really is amazing. The sectors look awesome and the gameplay is very good. It can be buggy, but i've never had a major problem. I definitely recommend this game to anyone that is into space/sci-fi games.
Decided to play again after a break from it to find all my saves for the Terran campaign are corrupt, even my extra saves incase my original ones became corrupt. But one didn't go corrupt but its the one that I've done nothing on.
That is sad. The Terran Plot isn't too hard to complete. Although, Final Fury def. is!
