The Springblossum corvette is even more overpowered in my opinion, it outruns M4s and can annihilate sectors with the matter/anti-matter launchers installed on the front guns and starburst cannons on the turrets.
This has been noted for future reference.
If you've haven't touched your UTs/STs since the patch then I recommend removing all their e-cells and fighter drones and restarting their UT/ST commands in a relatively safe sector.
Since the UT/ST script was updated, the command would have been automatically restarted on each ship when they completed their current task after the patch was applied. However, the unfortunate side effect of the command being restarted is that they won't use the e-cells and fighter drones they had on them prior to the patch. The e-cells and fighter drones will be treated as cargo that was there before the Universal or Sector Trader command was given and won't be used, so this results in wasted cargo space.
If your UT/ST ships typically have more than enough cargo space then this might not be a problem for you. Otherwise, it would probably be a good idea to go through and remove the e-cells and fighter drones from your UT/ST ships so as not to waste cargo space.
Just to be clear, this isn't a bug or glitch, it's just an expected but annoying side effect of the scripts being restarted.

As raw power goes you're probably right. I've never bothered buying one, I'm pretty happy with the Hyperion as my pimpmobile.
Ok the minute I get into the game this is what I plan on doing. Start following the story line and raising money for a trade ship, once I get the trade ship I'll set it to auto trading in that sector or whatever you guys mean for it to do and than rinse and repeat, follow storyline while saving for more trade ships.
Sounds fine to me. You'll find the storyline to be quite short. But you do get some presents along the way.
And once I feel I have enough ships trading I'll save for a Tokyo.
And once I feel I have enough ships trading I'll save for a Tokyo.
Hmm, make sure you get them trading in a relatively safe sector or at least get some muscle to follow them around, otherwise you'll end up spending money to replace ships that've been attacked by your foes.
I mostly did space station defend missions to build up my cash reserves, that's when they gave out a rediculous amount of money, I think they changed it now.
Save money for a assload of carriers and have them escort the trade ships? I believe that's better than muscle.

The mission payout is a bit more sensible now. Before the fixing patch whichever it was, build missions could be worth in excess of 100 million.
Can someone explain how to play X3 Reunion to me? I picked up a copy that my brother used to own in my cabinets and installed it. I'm completely lost.

I had the same thing haha. I just ended up attacking paranid frieghters in paranid space due to them being hostile in the story, trying to take intact freighters and selling them but I ended up breaking even due to having to repair my piece of crap starting ship.
I couldn't really get anywhere, had no clue. Terran Conflict is much easier.
Ok I'm stuck on getting to storyline mission, don't know what to do. I'm supposed to go to Farnham's Legend or something but its not on my map.
How do you use a jump drive?

Shift-J for the jumpdrive, and theres a map of X3R here.
And X3 is horribly complex to get into. Just stick with it and you'll figure it all out.
Holy crap the ships that come from the Talon are tough, they killed me quick.
[editline]11:57PM[/editline]
Why is it so fucking hard to find guns for a M2 ship?
In some ways the starting Buster outclasses the Talon's ships. Just strafe all the time in a big spiral and you'll dodge a lot of the fire.
If you're looking at equipment docks that's the wrong place. They never have anything of anything. Look for PPC and flak (FAA) production complexes or the individual forges.
Ok, I finally got Terran Conflict.
And here's a few more questions.
Where the hell can I find a jump drive? When I get into a M5+ ship I don't want to spend half my time flying across a system in a ship that goes 49.
[editline]09:24AM[/editline]
AGH! EVIL FLIGHT SYSTEM! It makes me drag and click just to turn. I like to just move my mouse to turn.
Jumpdrives? There's a listing on eng.x3tc.ru which I can't go on at the moment because my college blocked it. But I know it's available at Terracorp HQ in Home of Light, Atreus Headquarters in Queen's Harbour, and Earth Torus at Earth. The abailability is still a bit shit considering so many of the bad guys apparently use them willy nilly now.
But no ship should be going at 49 unless it's a destroyer with unfilled engine tunings or it's been beaten to a pulp and is limping. You're using SETA, right?
Yeah I know how to use SETA, and yeah I'm talking about a M2 ship with engine tunings. Since I wasn't really planning on playing Reunion much I just cheated and bought one. a M2 Argon destroyer only goes 49 with engine tunings.
Goddamn it, is there a way to turn off the drag and turn and switch it back to how Reunion had it?
Really, I thought it was 70 or something.
Well if you're going to cheat yourself a destroyer that costs almost 100 million to buy and equip, you might as well spawn yourself a 100k jumpdrive as well.
Or a discoverer (being the only one capable of fitting a jumpdrive) to be a jumpdrive courier for you.

I moved on to Terran Conflict, going through this one legitly.
And seriously, why did they change the flying thing?
You can change it back in the controls, I have right click set to toggle classic flight mode so it's similar to reunion.
And you can find jumpdrives here.
Also bookmark this site. Great for answering quick questions like where to find wares and sectors.
How? I looked and saw nothing. It ruins my aim horribly.
How? I looked and saw nothing. It ruins my aim horribly.
Press Shift+N to toggle classic flying mode.
In normal flying mode you can press space bar to toggle the flying cursor on and off and press ctrl to fire boresight regardless of where the mouse is pointing (center of the screen).
How do you scan something? I have to scan this pirate base for a mission.
Just target it and fly close to it.
Thank you.

The spacebar toggles mouse steering, so you don't have to hold down the mouse button. This is a freelancer style control
Shift-N (I think) turns on classic mode, where the mouse controls the ship itself instead of the ship following your mouse.
I prefer the spacebar steering, it lets you turn while in SETA, which is really useful for the big huge ships that take a minute just to turn 180 degrees.
I use a 360 controller for flying, so much better.
I sort of fly and combat with the 360, then use keyboard and mouse for station interface. Works well, especially for the smaller fighters.
Does anyone know a good way to earn money in early missions? I have 130 credits and two ships so far. One of which is unarmed.

If you're not using the worse fighting ship for anything at the moment I'd sell it. What ships are they?
The low-level station defense missions are a nice way to easy money. If you're using the Sabre, which is a good ship, it can kill corvettes provided you do enough strafing to avoid the turrets. If you see a combat mission over a station it can't hurt to inquire.
If you're not familiar with capping, then when you shoot pirates there's a small chance the pilot will bail out of his ship intact, leaving it there to be claimed for your possession. Get up close, eject from your ship and get to within 30m or so. Then with the ship selected, hit I, then click claim. The ship can now be controlled by you. If it's an M3 you might want to keep it for your own use. I'd go for shields over speed any day.
