The humans are very paranoid, if you go to the earth when you're not friendly with them, they'll panick and rape you with all their laz0rz faster than you can say "I come in peace!"

Really not worth pissing it off.
So you're saying as long as I'm Terran, i'm ok?
Nope, even if you're a Terran, they will blast the shit out of you within a few seconds of entering the system, you have to complete the main questline and be granted the privlages of going there.
Holy shit, i went to Earth and they were giving me these warning messages. I ignored them and went only a few Km's in and they gave me this final warning message message, "You are considered an enemy missile." I freaked b/c i didn't save and quickly turned back. Well...it was too late and my ship blew up. Wtf, no lasers, nothing? Magically boom? holy crap. Earth is still beautiful though, but wtf with that huge ring around it.
The huge ring is a docking/defense platform. To be honest I've only been to earth twice, there's honestly nothing special there at all.
I can't seem to capture ships well. I am trying to pirate hunt in my pimped out Iguana Vanguard, and the most I can do is destroy them. I have a high combat rank, and they don't bail!
Which X3 should I get? I haven't played any of them before.
They have a hard learning curve. So if you want an easy game, do not buy any of them.
They have a hard learning curve. So if you want an easy game, do not buy any of them.
I'm pretty good at learning things, I think.
I'm pretty good at learning things, I think.
Get Terran Conflict, it's the newest one and the best one. And guys, question: How do you scan enemy ships? I was on this mission that asks me to scan a Pirate Base and i thought that by going close, i could scan it but instead, i died and the 30 min. of following this stupid slow pirate ship was for naught.

For me, that consisted of flying to the end of one of its open hangars. Also, don't forget to use SETA (J by default).
What's a SETA?
SETA makes time around you go faster. Essential for long journeys and other tedious flying/tasks. Can go up to 10x. Press J to activate as has been said. Most pressing of buttons will make it disengage. You should have one for free when you start on pretty much any start. Even if you don't it's only 252 credits at any equipment dock.
Holy shit. I got this Rapier that i never thought i had, and i undocked it to follow me. The thing is, I want to sell it. How do i sell it? I can't sell it unless it's docked in the shipyard. I don't know how to get it to dock in a shipyard. How do you do it? And are the AI really really stupid? I asked it to follow me and as i go, it just gos back and forth and its distance from me keeps getting higher. I'm going even slower than that thing. It's just going in place in circles. I'm really concerned now...help?
With the rapier selected in the property menu (press R) or the sector map (press .) press C to access its command console. From this menu you can choose from a range of categories to remote control your ship. Including ordering it to dock at stations. You can expand the command selection by buying software for your ships. While on the property menu, press . with a ship selected to show the sector map of the sector it's in. Yes, the AI is a bit dim. Someone for an experiment ordered 30 of those rapiers to follow his corvette (rather bigger than a fighter). The result? Every single one flew straight into his ship and smashed itself to pieces.
AI in Terran space is retarded just because of the huge avoid-radius of the stations.
AI in Terran space is retarded just because of the huge avoid-radius of the stations.
Yeah that's another thing. The stations just have a spherical avoid radius that ships don't want to stray inside of, so the ginormous, oddly-shaped, sector-dominating Terran stations really screw up the system.
I did something very silly recently in TC, i spent in excess of over 50-60 million on a self sufficent energy complex, but the game crashes when i try to dock with it, probably because the sector it's built in is a split military sector and gets frequent visits from a split fleet. Near a hundred ships flying about an asteroid field with a huge complex inbetween is not too good for my pc. Besides that, the complex is pretty pointless, i should have just bought an M1 or M2 class ship, considering i do more combat than trading nowadays. If only it was possible to sell factories and complexes.
Recently started playing X3:TC again after upgrading my RAM. Don't lag as much now when in that sector. Also managed to regain all my credits back plus doubled it so i went ahead and finally bought an M2 ATF Tyr Battleship, set me back 95mil but it's worth it. Now i have both the complex and an M2 flagship.
Sorry, bought? Did they add an ATF shipyard or are you using a euphemism for 'board' implying that the operation was almost as easy as buying one from a shipyard?
Nope, did buy one. I have a script which changes the Terran Shipyard in "The Moon" sector to an ATF one, it sells all their ships, all the Terran stations and sells the M0; Valhalla.
I love the X series but I always get distracted and play something else :sigh:.
I'm playing through again and on one of the annyoing Terran Conflict missions except that when I pick up the guy I'm meant to, the quest doesn't advance. Stupid fucking bugs. I got myself a plot resetter so I can just reset the mission line or I might just skip the whole damn thing in general.
Does anyone know why I cannot start the game? I just bought it and installed it, and now I try to start the game nothing really happens, just the old classic steam loader window pops up, then it goes down after a while, then after that nothing. Nevermind, I got it working
I got the game the other day after massive peer pressure from a certain individual and in game my mouse lags, as in it doesn't have the same fluid movement you tend to get on your desktop or other games, anyone have any idea why?

I don't know wether to get the x3 pack off of steam (reunion+terran conflict). It looks like a great game and considering I've played EVE and enjoyed that so that makes me want it more. Been looking around at videos but I still have some unanswered questions. So a few questions: 1) What's the difference between reunion and terran conflict? Is terran conflict an expansion that uses saves from reunion? If so, is it worth getting just terran conflict, just reunion or both? 2) I know there's proper space combat (you control your ship) but what's the strategy side I've heard to it? Like selecting where your fleet goes etc? 3) Is there mining and other things like that?

I never really paid attention to the story line in Reunion as it was borderline impossible and buggy although I think TC is set in the future from the story line of Reunion, fuck knows lol. I'd say just get Terran Conflict, I haven't played Reunion scince. Space combat can require tactics, there's so many different ships out there so..it's really down to either how you fly or how well you order your fleet (Although I've not had a fleet to command yet). Yes, there's mining in this game, never bothered but there's mining lasers for sale and you can get equiptment to scan asteroids and stuff to put mining stations on if you wanted to. You can build entire complexes of factories and stuff.

i cant figure this game the fuck out
