I am unhappy. There's a big Khaak ship roaming about in Home of Light and it has destroyed several stations already (including the TerraCorp HQ) but the Argon refuse to do anything about it. Grr.

It's possible you accepted a combat mission and it spawned there.
I did something similar, I was such a high combat rank when accepting a combat defense mission, an absurd amount of ships spawned. There were 3 destroyers and numerous corvettes. Basically, they raped me and I had to escape. But I forgot about them and the mission so eventually they had fucked over all of Circle of Labour and they had just started on Omicron Lyrae. Took me ages to clear them all out.

It's not due to a mission. I know that for a fact because I don't really do missions; I prefer to trade.
I'm not even playing Terran Conflict, I'm still playing Reunion. I just posted here becuase this seems to be the most alive X3 thread and the games are both pretty much the same.
Either way, it seems that I fixed it. I installed a few AL scripts and the next time I went in to Home of Light it had vanished. Thank God for that. I'm guessing the reason it (and the two others that originally appeared with it but, thankfully, did get destroyed by the Argon) attacked is because I'm using the Xtended mod which seems to add random, large-scale attacks. It's just unfortunate that this happened in one of the most important sectors.

The Kha'ak invade 2 random sectors every once in a while, in vanilla Reunion.
Not sure about Terran Conflict, but the Commonwealth races sometimes blow each other to shit with military invasions.

That might be what it was then.
Unfortunately, now I can't get my hands on any of the stuff that was sold at the TerraCorp station.

It'll respawn in a few game days. Also, the Goner Temples in Cloudbase 'something or other' and Elysium of Light sells the Jumpdrives and Transporter devices that Terracorp sells.
I've not played Terran Conflict in a while, but I was really put off it by the 'boarding rebalancing'. I can see the motivation behind making it harder to board ships in that you need more marines of greater skill -- though I don't necessarily agree with it given the large amounts of credits and time that has to go into having them trained -- but what really annoyed me was that once one marine was on the hull he'd start to cut through without waiting for the others.
The end result was that you'd have one or two marines inside, getting slaughtered, then the remainder drifting about in space aimlessly -- at least before the changes once one marine was on the hull they all latched on.
Anyone with this game that is bored? I really want it, but can't afford it after buying christmas presents and cannabis :(.
Would anyone like to trade for somthing i have?

I always board with boarding pods, or in a fast M6 hovering right below the ship, so I've never had a problem with them drifing aimlessly.

Unless you have 800$, I won't be selling my Steam Account.
I just bought this. Do I have to update anything manually after I download it from steam? Or is it already up to date there?

Steam should keep you patched to the latest version. If you want to check the version it's on the bottom right corner on the main menu, should say 2.5.
With any luck, it might say 2.6 or something soon... :v:

Also, everyone, I found this screenshot of the week fairly interesting...

That doesn't even look like an X series game. Wonder how it got like that. The big blue waves look like PSGs, maybe he's in some kind of capital ship just shooting at some asteroids.
And they posted a "happy christmas" thread on the forums, saying they'd keep making updates and things when 2010 arrives. That's nice to hear.
I'm just wondering what Egosoft will do next, though - I think it's about time they started afresh. The X series has been going for so long, I want to see what sort of stuff they'll come up with with a blank canvas put in front of them.
It'll be fun to see what XTC will have in it, the equivalent of XTM for TC. Lots of things from XTM didn't get into TC like the giant mobile factory ships and the bigass M0 things - which I thought was a damn shame.
Need to get back into X3:TC never found it immersive enough, nothing driving me to do the next mission. Guess I look at it as a sandbox game too much, spawning M2s and M3s and taking the fleet into a main Kha'ak area can be quite fun.

Bah, real men use the RRF mod @ max. difficulty and gather the money themselves.
[editline]11:45PM[/editline]
And M3 = Heavy Fighter.
Dammit I mean M7s
Still need to get my hands on an M7M though.
Damn it, I just got the game on steam, and it instantly CTDs, before even giving me a launcher, or anything along those lines, not even a splash screen :(
Any help?

Yeah, it's an Agamemnon (M7) PSG-ing some asteroids.
Also, mobile factory ships sound unbelievably cool.
I'm downloading X3 Terran Conflict right now. Last time I played I had real difficulties of what to do / where to go.
Anyone willing to give me a briefing of what I should do? Would be appriciated.

A good way to make some quick money early on is doing station defense missions (assuming you have a combat ship of some sort). There are a few guides on the egosoft forums you could check out. Also, I find that the Something Awful thread on this game has a few helpful tips (http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=2985240&userid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=1).

Thanks, there is one other problem, when I'm playing the game there is no sound.
Before when I had it installed on XP it worked fine, now I have Windows 7 (This might be causing it)
Anyways, anyone know a fix for it? I can hear the sounds in the intro and such, but not when you control it yourself.
I found that a good way to make money early on is to do ship recovery missions, but instead of returning the ship, you make a beeline for the nearest shipyard and sell the thing off. Only do this to a race you don't like though because it does a number on your status. Another good one is to get the NPC bail script, makes it so NPCs will bail out occasionally when the hull of their ship drops down far enough, you can then repair and sell off the ship for quite a profit. You'll be able to get a good ship in no time and start doing the well paying missions.

Why do you need a script? NPCs still bail occasionally without any scripts, they also do it on missions (like the mentioned station defense) so you could earn some extra cash while doing missions.

In vanilla only your laser fire will make people bail out. The mod makes it so that any two NPCs fighting might trigger a bailout.
Anyone mind helping me with a sound problem? All I hear is music, and the intro sounds.. nothing else. It's quite annoying.
So how did they change the control scheme from Reunion? Is it like Freelancer/Freespace now or something?
So how did they change the control scheme from Reunion? Is it like Freelancer/Freespace now or something?
It's like the mouse flight in Freelancer now. But they kept the Reunion style turning in, just rebranded it as classic flight mode.

When the game launches, try changing different sound settings. Or even try changing the ones in-game. If that still doesn't work, try making a thread in the Technical Support Forums on the Egosoft Website.
Had to restart my game cause my old computer died. Already back in the Skiron. Its very nice.
