I suggest to anyone wanting some form of challenge to use the Apocalypse mod at Imperial difficulty (made by LV) The ENTIRE UNIVERSE gets taken out by a virus and its basically you against the universe controlled by either Kha'ak or Xenon (depending who you picked as an enemy) You then must recapture the universe sector by sector. You get 1 ally race and a few stations, stations and your start ship are decided by difficulty. It's quite fun/shocking watching Atreus Shipbuilding get annihilated by a Xenon controlled Boron fleet of various M6/5/4's with a couple M1/2/6/7's. No shit there was at least 30 ships there, I'm in a Kha'ak fighter watching after playing for an hour gametime. I was just sitting there all :O for a minute or two before unleashing the drones i bought at atreus to unleash what damage I could (had a multi sector patrol mission so it's probably my fault Atreus HQ went down)
Sorry for the 2 month bump, but I couldn't find another thread and I don't really have the knowledge for making my own, as I just recently bought this game. I have a small question. What's the hotkey (if there is one) for 'free-look'? or to just look around via the mouse, besides using the numpad.

Oh great, now I've gotta reinstall this game again. Thanks a lot.

This game... I still don't know how they haven't made a hacky multiplayer mod for it yet. HOW HAS THIS NOT HAPPENED
So I just got this game and is there anything I should know about it? I mean, from what I hear and see the game really throws you in there without much help. Any mods I should get and how do I get $$$ quickly?
Terran Conflict guides you a bit more than Reunion did... Reunion says Here's your ship, here's 9,000 credits, do stuff. TC atleast starts you off on a road The way to make $$$ quickly, isn't exactly fast, but you trade Energy Cells.. Nice and cheap, Until you can trade Ore or something similar... gone from 13cr a piece to about 60cr a piece, and selling 17cr a piece to 150 or so cr a piece, after a few Ore runs you'll be buying your second trade ship, and install the software on it so it can trade on its own, that should get you on your way to your empire

What I like to do (early in the game) is keep 2-4 freighters around in a safe part of the universe, then go out and do combat missions. Between missions I remote control the freighters to do trade runs manually. Then when I have the money I buy Trade Command MK3 so they can generate profit all by themselves. If you're going to trade energy cells make sure it's in a freighter or something with a large cargo hold - first time I played Reunion I was making 500 profit/run on my Buster's tiny cargo hold in energy cells. depressingly boring.
I was just saying how to start out, when you only have your one freighter, Can't even fill it up on your first or second run completely, but soon it starts flowing pretty quick, a few E-cell runs then onto ore, you'll make about 80k or so a run
I did some beginner mission, killed Xenon N-types and crashed into a docking bay. Why are ships so incredibly slow?
I did some beginner mission, killed Xenon N-types and crashed into a docking bay. Why are ships so incredibly slow?
Have you ever watched an International Space Station docking? The shuttle moved 20feet every five minutes.
I like this game but I had really shit performance with the new stations compared to reunion that ran perfectly, I now have 2gb more ram and moved from a 8800gt to a 275. Think it's worth reinstalling?
I did some beginner mission, killed Xenon N-types and crashed into a docking bay. Why are ships so incredibly slow?
Just use your time speed up and you won't notice. I get up to an 10-20 FPS increase for all of my games with it. It also can improve internet speed.
Ok, so I installed a particle accelerator cannon to my mercury for protection, but I can't fire it. What's wrong? I'm running X3:TC 2.5 without mods.
The only thing that can make this even more incredible is the ability to roam your own ship, similar to that Xbox game, Bounty Hunter.
Ok, so I installed a particle accelerator cannon to my mercury for protection, but I can't fire it. What's wrong? Press Shift+C for your ship's command console and the turret will be there, with an option to change the command. With Fight Command Software you can get more behaviours for your turrets. To be honest, by the way, that gun isn't going to kill off any ships for you. It's a piddling little thing to have shooting on its own. It's a lot more useful to shoot down missiles, so put it on missile defense or something.

Either to shoot at enemy missiles for defense, protect your ship, fire at all enemies regardless if they shoot at you first or not, etc [editline]11:59AM[/editline] Goddamn you Johnny
Funny how this thread is bumped just after I reinstalled and started playing again. New game, Terran defender, version 2.6, bonus pack one. Oh yeah, version 2.6 was released couple of days back. Also, the Dev's gathered together some scripts and addons for the bonus pack I just mentioned. Doesn't change the game drastically or break the balance, but they're very useful regardless. * Commercial Agent * Commodity Logistics Software MK1 * Commodity Logistics Software MK2 * Dockware Manager * Missile Defense Mosquito * Turbo Boost Been meaning to start playing again, so this was enough incentive to reinstall.
The missile defense mosquito sounds really nifty. I'll have to get into a fight and see how it works.

I think the price is ramped up significantly, but if you can afford it try a Phased Repeater Gun. It shoots wildly fast (much faster than the turret makes it fire), the bullets travel at really high speed to hit things more successfully, and it has a longer range. Being a Mercury your ship is never going to be very powerful but with that gun in the back it'll defend itself a little better. I don't use missiles personally but I never really fly freighters. They'd probably help a lot in your case, but which missiles specifically I've no idea. You can find PRGs in Argon Light Weapon Complexes most commonly.
So, I'm going to get back into X3:TC. Anyone recommend some mods and things to do?
So, I'm going to get back into X3:TC. Anyone recommend some mods and things to do?
My two favourites of the moment are Improved Races and Combat Mod 3. Combat Mod basically messes with all the weapon parameters and effects to make fights more fun and less laggy. Most notably guns have less energy consumption, more bullet velocity, generally slower fire rate, and less damage per second. It does make fighting a good bit nicer. The basic weapons are mostly unchanged in what you use them for, but some of the weapons have been completely remade to make them more interesting. For example the ISR in vanilla seems like the HEPT, but with slightly more damage and a mostly-insignificant power drain on the person that gets hit. In CMod, it's the only insta-hit weapon in the game. A super-velocity laser thing that makes a reliable anti-fighter defense. The mod definitely stops weapons being obsolete. Improved Races is another of those mods that makes races go to war and the enemy races attack more, but it's easily the most polished with the most features of its type.

Oh and I'm not looking to make my shit TS into a battleship or something, just basic protection. :v: [editline]07:35PM[/editline] Also "your notoriety is too low, trade restrictions are in effect"
That means the race doesn't like you enough to sell you that. Anything like trading, doing missions for them, killing enemies in their space, it'll all improve the reputation slightly.

Argh the interface for trading is confusing and the manual for this game on steam wont work
