Just bought the gold on Steam, I've heard good things, can't wait to get into it.
Say goodbye to a social life and/or sleep.
Argh the interface for trading is confusing and the manual for this game on steam wont work
Trading as in when you dock at a station and choose trade?
In a nutshell, the bar at the bottom is your cargo bay. How full it is with the red bar shows how full your cargo bay is. The list above is the wares in the station. If you have some of the selected ware in your cargo bay, you'll have a blue bit on the cargo bar showing how much of your cargo bay is filled with that specific ware.
When you do left or right arrow to buy/sell wares, the grey bit appears showing how the blue bar will grow/shrink when you click buy.
About the figures in the bottom right, the first number shows how much money you'll have if you click buy/sell now. The second number shows how much your money will change.
Anyway to get rid of the Red hud and no voice audio for Combat mod?
I'm guessing the latter is CMod..
I just got TC and I decided to play as the Terran Defender I was doing the first mission and I was in pluto patroling when I saw a lone Xenon N Thinking this should be a doddle I went in head strong... I got blown up 3 seconds later. Any tips for how to suck less at combat?
I just bought this game because of this thread, I love space games like this.

Yeah, Ns are complete pushovers. As are absolutely all M5s without exception. You probably died because you didn't strafe. Just use WASD to strafe in a big spiral and you'll avoid a vast majority of the bullets.
The Terran weapons you get to start with, by the way, have a lowish bullet speed. Be prepared to miss a lot.
Just got this game in light of the (now dead) steam deal, so I thought I'd necro this thread. Seems interesting so far. Looks great with the cockpit mod and the atmospheric lighting mod too

There was a steam deal for this? Fuck.
Yeah the cockpit mod is really nice. I think there's more than one these days. I know one of them has bits of HUD on the cockpit model which is extra fancy.

The only one I know that is full working is PISCO1_CockpitMod
The other ones are incomplete, don't have working gauges, and crash
Ugh wow doing terran defender, they tell me to follow this pirate ship for the main plot.
I follow this fucking ship at 69mps through 5-6 fucking sectors, and even with time compression running at 1000% it still takes me 20 minutes of doing nothing but trailing this guy before he reaches his destination (a pirate base).
Once he gets there, I have to scan the base with my lone fighter. But oh wait! The base just spawned 8 pirates who open fire on me and (obviously) kill me. Last autosave was like... an hour before hand which is when I first started the mission. FML.
Wow that's harsh, yeah I blew that mission the first time too I think. I made sure to upgrade my ship so it was faster than the pirates and then hugged the pirate base as close as I could so that the pirates would just circle around and couldn't get a shot off.

FUCK ME.
I hate that goddamn mission, it pisses me off to no end.
I found the game got a lot better when you completed the first Terran plot missions.
The corporation missions are pretty shitty too, I hate the escort missions and the missions where you have to follow someone.
I've just started on the Hub plot and I can tell right now I am ridiculously under-equipped for this.
I did a mission where some guy told me to retrieve a TP transport from mars, except with the catch that it be done in 30 minutes or less (incase you don't know this ship goes like... 50mps max). The reward for the mission was 10K
At the time I didn't know it was a TP transport but when I got there I did a whole "Uhhhh fuck this guy I'm selling this bitch!" as mars has a shipyard.
Sold the bitch for 200,000k :D
Of course I failed the mission and my reputation for the Terran took a hit which I didn't know would happen. But ah well. I'm rich (ish) now :)

I tried to do that but it still didn't work for me :frown:

Yeah you get a few free ships, one of which is a badass heavy fighter and the other of which is a rare corvette.
What do you do with the ships though? I don't see much of a purpose of having more than one combat ship (at the moment)... let alone another non-combat ship unless I would be trading

I already lost the [sp]Vidar[/sp] I was rewarded when some goon destroyed the station it was on without me noticing ages ago. That kind of sucked.
Meh, the Vidar sucks, only good thing is that it can use all/most of the game's weapons, but it has crap shields and weapon gen.

Uh, have a fucking fleet to conquer the galaxy. Thought that would be a no-brainer.
Other reasons to have lots of ships:
-if you're a collector, I like to have one of each 'unique' unbuyable ship docked somewhere
-escorts for your many automated trade ships
-escorts for your escorts
-escorts for yourself
-patrol and clean up pirate/xenon/khaak ships
-guard your factories/complexes
-more trade ships, albeit with lesser cargo spaces, but faster (if your using a M5 or something, make it sell expensive small stuff like space fuel)
I guess you could just sell them, especially at the early part of the game when you need lots of cash to get up and running, but once you can afford to supply (preferably outfit your ships with guns made in your own closed loop weapons complexes), a galactic empire is pretty sweet to have, unless you don't want to have a huge fleet and just want to be rich on your own.
-escorts for yourself
They just get in the way and get shot by you and Xenon scum...

The Vidar is the ATF M6. You're thinking of the truelight seeker?
Eitherway I'm not really missing the Vidar anyway. Just cruising around in my Boreas at the moment fucking shit up.
[facepalm emote]
I had a nagging feeling somewhere that something was off in something I made.
That's what you get for not playing it in ages.
I just got this.
Works perfect with my joystick, had to configure some controls tho, the Rudder on the joystick was roll, what a pain.
Also, bamp.
X3 is constantly crashing at random spots. It's so annoying.
Do stunts flying real close to stations while on a mission going 240m/s
Cutscene.
Can anybody give me some pointers or a nice tutorial for boarding capital ships? I can't seem to get my marines on board using an M7M with boarding pods no matter how much distraction flail barrages I send out.
This game is frigging hard to get into, I bought it expecting it to be like freelancer. It's like more like EVE in that its harder to control and is stupidly over complicated.

Freelancer is legendary.
I have completed the single player 4 times over.
I have booked and written down the location of every level 10 cannon.
Its basically a free mmo online.
Easy to get into, not boring.
My first day of X3
Dreadfully confusing cut scene at the beginning.
I got stuck in turret mode
Go to waypoint (5 minutes to get there) minutes going to system transition-or whatever)
Dog fight (pretty interesting)
7 minutes flying to another system.
Spend 20 sodding minutes flying toward the station.
Get to space station, get quest.
Spend 30 minutes flying to another neighbouring system in a 70% slower, civilian carrier with one rear turret.)
Pick up the passengers.
Start flying back to the station.
Oh no! pirates have appeared!
"Pirates? im sending a fighter sqaudron now!" says some badly voiced lady.
2 minutes of swaying side to side whilst being hammered by 5 sodding fighters. Of course, i have one turret that has no chance of hitting the fighters and flying at the same time.
I get blown up before the local fighters even get to me.
In short, X3 was the worst gaming experience i have ever had.
