It said there's an achievement for doing a flight school though. That sounded tutorialy.
Look for a ship with Flight School in its name. Talk to him with C within 25km and he'll teach you about a few things. You can press . to look at the sector map and find a list of what's in your radar range. Also what start did you choose?
The Terran one, at the top of the list.
The only sectors that I can remember having small Nvidium rocks are Kingdom End and Interworlds. Kingdom End is within a couple jumps from the starting sector, to the NW. Interworlds is way SE of any of the starting sectors, and you need to go through some pirate territory to get to it"
You can go through Cho's Defeat though, can't you? From Argon Prime to Interworlds.
You can go through Cho's Defeat though, can't you? From Argon Prime to Interworlds.
It's a much longer path though, IIRC. I've been playing XTC which has the new universe so I can't remember :v:
Oh yeah shameless self-promotion, Details on what is needed to unlock each start. Yeah it's my thread, and I just upd8ed it :33
^Do you need to play unmodified to get the starts?
No, as far as I remember. . . .
^Do you need to play unmodified to get the starts?
Don't think so. And I think there's a script that will unlock them anyways, if you can't unlock them on a modified game.
Is this game alright with mouse+keyboard or should I go and get out the good old logitech attack 3?
honestly I've played with mouse and keyboard and it's just as fine if not better than joystick, but for combat and stuff you better use a joystick anyways I guess. Just a tip, shift + N to toggle "classic" mouse flying just by aiming and not that bullshit "click and drag to move around", then just press ESC and the arrow keys to navigate through the menus and try to remember the keys for stuff, but most important ones are: J for SETA K for auto-aim (turn it on) shift + d for autodock (also works as fly to) t for targetting , and . for maps F1 to switch views (and shoot with your back turret and stuff) probably missile ones too, just haven't used them yet. Just try to memorise the shortcut for things you do most and you'll be fine. Also smuggled some space fuel in Herron's Nebula and the tradestation there bought almost all the stuff, but I had too much to sell, do other tradestations buy spacefuel? I've looked in their trade menus and they don't have space fuel on the list. For the moment I just gave it to some guy bargaining in the station for some credits
Personally, I prefer Mouse+KB over Joystick :colbert: But that's just my opinion, no need to go spreading it around. [editline]30th December 2010[/editline] Personally, I prefer Mouse+KB over Joystick :colbert: But that's just my opinion, no need to go spreading it around.

It's been a while since I played X3 but I got the XTC mod and I'm loving it. The new universe annoys me a little bit because I don't recognise anything and need to learn it all again. It also seems that there are no pirate sectors like in vanilla, so hunting and capturing is harder than before because I actually need to attack a faction to capture ships or do it in a mission. The shipyards seem to only sell factories and M1/M2 ships but maybe I'm just going to the wrong ones. It is a good upgrade though and I recommend it to everyone. Just backup your original saves so you can go back if you want.
Meh I really don't want to re-explore new sectors, so the new universe in XTC is the only part pushing me away from it

Did boarding parties get altered at all because it was always a pain to cycle through various menus to do it.
You still have to muck about in your ship's command console I think - but I think there's now a "launch all marines" command that instantly shoots all your marines at the current target.
Meh I really don't want to re-explore new sectors, so the new universe in XTC is the only part pushing me away from it
Just use a cheatpack to show all sectors?
Just use a cheatpack to show all sectors?
The XTC sectors are unlocked as time progresses in your game; at the beginning the total visitable universe is about the size of the original X-Beyond The Frontier game. Using cheats to show all the sectors could break it or cause weird bugs.
Just use a cheatpack to show all sectors?
I can't bring myself to cheat bro, that's just not how I roll
Should be about the final version now
So I started playing X3TC for the first time earlier and the stupidest thing in a game ever happened to me. I was hired to retrieve this abandoned ship on a sector, right? So there I go all fine and dandy. I claim the ship and tell it to follow me until I got to the target sector. As I stopped near the station so I could figure out how to give the ship to the employer, the ship decided it was a good idea to ram my backside at full speed. Then that ship blew up. Then I failed the mission. Then the employer called the cops on me. Right outside the god damned target station. Fun times, will play again. :v:
So, I've been making a little money buying and selling energy cells since everyone seems to want them and the solar plant is always at full capacity because apparently nobody else is supplying them. Is there anyway to just automate the whole procedure? Buy here, sell there, repeat, that kind of thing.
Sort of. You can buy trade command software mk3 which gives you a sector trader command. When you do that and pick a sector, the ship will automatically find good trading opportunities in that sector and take advantage of them, while you can do something else. The ship will get gradually smarter as it goes along. When it gets to level 8, you can issue a universe trader command as well, so it can trade in other sectors as well. Alternatively when it gets to at least level 6 you can specify a maximum jumps from the target sector. So you can restrict the trader to the local area. The ship will also buy various different things to help it escape if it gets attacked by pirates.
It'd be nice to see a facepunch let's play or livestream of this game. Anyone here with a mic and recording software?
Procaster and a mic here, was thinking of doing a DiD gamestart, but eh, would have to close them downloads if I did it, so not this time :smith:
I'd be nice to just see someone who knows what they're doing play, fastest way to pick it up.
It'd be nice to see a facepunch let's play or livestream of this game. Anyone here with a mic and recording software?
I have everything needed except the will to play it at the moment.
