Invest in some Wasp Missiles. They're beautiful against small fighters and screw up the missile defences of turreted ships so you can slip more powerful ones through. If I'm flying any combat ship bigger than an M4 I always bring a few of them along. They're cheap, too.

Umm...those are the names they are called. M1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9/10/etc are hard for me to remember. So I remember the actual names better.
This game appeals to me like Eve Online does. It's boring as fuck, but it's also addicting as fuck.

Titan is a big battleship, you should be able to take something out with that. But the Mammoth has the same fighting ability for its size as a regular freighter, ie very little.
Capital ship fights do seem to go too quickly, though. There's a combat mod that makes them longer.
Cruisers are the best personal ships.

TLs actually have pretty decent weapons, but the weapons are spaced out along the hull, and the TLs are so fucking huge that their relatively small shields (1gj) fall quickly to anything bigger than a M6, or a squad of M3s.

Get some phased repeater guns or pulsed beam emitters. PBEs have a nearly instant travel time but have only reach out to 1km. PRGs have better range but don't travel nearly as fast.
I've not tried actually fighting with a TL or anything. But yeah, a TL would be killed by an M6 pretty easily, as a TS would be killed by an M3.

Just managed to scrap up the credits for my sector, activate the first gate pair in the Hub and get a second M2 (now I have an Osaka and a Boreas). Shit is cash.

Running Xtended now and in about 15 hours of real time play I've gotten 7 Uni traders and 24 million credits built up.

M0 isn't a planet destroyer, it's just an incredibly big, incredibly powerful destroyer.
It destroyed a planet, that's how it got it's name.

You also have M3+ Super Fighters, M4+ Medium Fighters & the M8 bombers, the M0 is also not a planet destroyer (although it can) It is classified as a Battleship.

That was probably just the name given to that specific ship, The Xenon have an M0 Battleship and so do the Kha'ak.

So I managed to snag a Argon (TP) Express for around 150,000 credits. Should I use it? If so how?
Currently I have a Mercury, and that's pretty much it.
How could I Have forgotten M8 class, I don't really use them bombers though.

Okay so I started playing this recently. I started as a humble trader or whatever it was, and I've been trading energy cells and a little bit of Ore. How much money do I need before I can get a better ship? What ship should I get, and where from?
Depends what you mean by better ship - a medium fighter (M4) should be less than a million credits to buy and equip. A heavy fighter (M3) could be several million depending on which one.
Is there a reason the trader AI goes full retard when I try to make it fly to the HUB system?
