are there any mods to change the races or pictures of people when talking to them on comms? As good as space and spaceships look in this game they really dropped the bar on aliens, they all look like small children's clay vase art projects
They're supposed to. It's a gag on unrealistic aliens.
but they're so ugly :(
But.... It's a Centaur!
Pffft, Dragons and Heavy Dragons look a lot better and preform nigh on the same.
but they're so ugly :(
You know what isn't ugly? Centaur
especially the heavy one from the good ol' Xtended mod
Why does the OP say update to 2.5 instead of 3.0?
Because the OP is from 2008 and he's now permabanned.
Oh. Well. Probably for a (semi) good reason.
You put a competent pilot in a fully kitted Nova Raider and they will decimate FLEETS for you. Unless you're playing XTC, which is significantly harder to play :saddowns:
Regular Centaurs are also probably the worst M6s around. Heavy Centaurs make good patrol ships too, but if you want a real strike ship, just drop the dosh to get a Heavy Dragon.
i am going to restart my game as a pirate.
i am going to restart my game as a pirate.
I always wondered: if you're a pirate, do other pirates become neutral or friendly to you, or are you alone, enemies against pirate and other races too?
I want to go pirate, but if it just turns into everyone is my enemy, it's not exactly a viable gameplay decision, as there aren't very many places to make money when all stations reject you

It's possible to be neutral with the pirates. Some will still be enemy to you though.
how does one start, im in my buster doign this trade route thingy between a solar power plant and mining facility but its very slow at making money. most of the missions i find require something i dont have, like a cargo life support system.
[editline]20th May 2011[/editline]
nvm i restarted as humble merchant, that custom game ship is shit.

Energy cells make a very small amount of money as it is, and in a Buster you can only ship very small amounts of them. Also custom game has no plot-lines enabled, it's designed for use with total conversion mods and the like. The other starts are just variations in your starting conditions, it's all the same game. A couple of them have an extra set of missions at the beginning, though.
If you start out in a fighter like that, look for combat missions, and try attacking pirates in friendly space. You can make money by looting their dropped missiles, getting a bounty for them (if you have a police license) or capturing their ships and selling them at a shipyard.
This game is so good, yet so fucking frustrating. Forever stuck on Hub plot. My complex just lags the shit out of my computer so bad right now, and I'm still not producing half the shit I need. I don't think I will ever finish it.

i like the humble merchant one, and energy cells give me good money now, but the problem is they run out.
Two videos I recorded recently, might be of interest to you lot. 1. A dogfight in some Khaak sectors.
2. Capturing an Aran in the unknown sectors.
Bumping this thread because I forced myself to play the game and am somewhat enjoying it after autopilot crashed me into the warpgates twice on a stealth mission
Any tips on how to get a better ship early on? most stealth missions make me follow a ship going like 200 more m/s than I am

I wouldn't recommend running missions as a source of income early on - they're often buggy and don't pay well. Once you're established, they're a good way of building up your rep with the various races. You'd probably be better off trading to start off with - learn how the economy works and get yourself a financial foundation before you take any big risks. That way you can try various approaches and see what works for you.
Don't EVER rely on the autopilot around gates or asteroids. :3:

Take a look at the "Nvidium exploit". You'll rake money in no time, although, you'll feel like you've cheated, and then you might get bored... Topic http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=3523947

Starter Argon Buster.
Damn it, I got a Chimera fully repaired but I don't have cash to equip it with anything useful. It has no shields, weapons, nada. Pitch it? 3mil return if I do...
Fuck it, sold it and didn't even have to tap into the money gained to buy a Mercury Tanker with like 60% hull for 20k. Looks like not only do I have a large sum of money, it will only get larger since I bought a freighter.
:v:
Haven't played in a few days I am still soooo wanting a starwars mod.
I just played for... 11 hours straight. I ended up wanting to go do something, forgetting what, then wanting to go to bed only to end up on Facepunch.
I feel like pirating, but I don't want to do it to Argon ships as I'm like Rank 6 with them already and the Boron are cool. What do?
I pretty much steal 24/7 from the Yaki when I need more ships. They already hated me anyway because I was Terran and I couldn't be fucked fixing that.

Do you mean a proper Star Wars universe, or just the ships? If you just want the ships, you can get some of them here: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=274276
is it just me or are boron ships ugly as fuck
I quite like the Boron ships, they have a charm of their own. Don't really like Argon ships though.
