Thinking about gifting this to my steam friend with ADHD :V
What a colossal waste of money if you do
Especially seeing as the X superbox is going on supersale tomorrow on Steam.
Is there meant to be a game launcher.exe somewhere in the game files? Like X3TC.exe? Because I can't find it. Can someone upload theirs or something? I think that might be the problem, and for some reason verifying the game files doesnt fix it.
X3TC.exe should be located either on your desktop, or your start menu. If for some reason it is not there, it will be located in C://Program Files (x86)/EGOSOFT/X3 Terran Conflict/X3TC.exe. (That is the location of mine. Yours may vary)
If it is also not there, I suggest a reinstall.
Is it worth gaining rep with The Yaki and potentially fucking up reputation among other factions?
Probably. The Yaki have a few Space Fuel Distillaries that you can use and earn some good cash from trading with, and you can easily regain rank with the other races by doing some sector patrol missions that involve killing normal pirates/Xenon/Kha'ak. (Make sure it's not the Yaki). As well as that, the Yaki also have IBLs which are great on capital ships.

Also, I love it how this thread has recently been revived again. Every day I check here there is at least a new post.
Is it worth gaining rep with The Yaki and potentially fucking up reputation among other factions?
Honestly, no. You'll have to grind for huge amounts of time to gain enough reputation to buy any of their fighters, which you could just steal anyways. Besides, the Yaki Ryus that fly through their sectors are easy prey for boarding, so you can make loads of money by stealing them and selling them.

I have ADHD.

I like to keep my rep up slightly with them so that I can dock at their shipyard. The ships they have are pretty decent, I captured an Akuma from them recently, I had to quickly try and run as a new Akuma spawned just behind me as I nearly escaped the Yaki sectors.
Can anyone give me a brief description of X3 : Terran Conflict? Can you create empires?
A brief description? You're dumped in a fully simulated universe of thousands of ships in a couple hundred systems. There are scripted "plot" mission sequences, but the meat of the game is flying around and making money through whatever means you like. Which may be mercenary work, mining, trading, piracy, or anything else that works.
You can have ownership of as many ships as you like, giving any order you like to the remotely controlled ones. There are plenty of software upgrades available so you can tell a ship to "patrol" or "trade" and it will do so as intelligently as it can.
You can also build your own factories and connect them to form complexes, manage the resource flow, and set the prices for your factory's products.

Technically, you can't really create an "empire" with your own systems, but there's scripts like the "Sector Takeover" which let you take unclaimed sectors (or conquer race sectors) and add them to your empire, then allow civilians from other races to place stations in your sectors, which you can tax.
Most people refer to their "empire" as their huge trading hubs and fleets of traders, protected by dozens of corvettes, with destroyers ready to be called in when more firepower is needed.

Sounds interesting, I will definitely try it if the sale is good enough.

thanks. I've got the steam version though
can anyone with the steam version check if there's meant to be an .exe? And if so would they mind uploading it? I've got horrible internet I don't want to have to re download everything

Go into your Steam Games list, right click on X3: Terran Conflict, hit "Properties". Then, go to the "Local Files" tab in the properties window. Select "Verify integrity of game cache". It'll scan your X3TC directory for missing or changed files, and download anything you have missing.
Nope, just x3tc.exe in \Steam\steamapps\common\x3 terran conflict
Should I bother with the X Superbox or should I just get Terran Conflict?
Should I bother with the X Superbox or should I just get Terran Conflict?
I'd like to know this as well. Is there any reason to play the older games if you have Terran Conflict?

If you want the full story then yes, get it, if not don't bother.
To get X3:TC or not? Not sure if its really worth £4.99, I'm a little low on funds
Lawl, Jesus, the X3:TC ticket is not easy to get in one day. I don't even have the firepower to blow up a SPP and I've got at least a week logged on my game.
To get X3:TC or not? Not sure if its really worth £4.99, I'm a little low on funds
I can't think of any other game more worthy of £5 than TC.
I'm interested in the fighting mechanics for this game. Are there a wide variety of weapons and can you have large space battles?
I'm interested in the fighting mechanics for this game. Are there a wide variety of weapons and can you have large space battles?
Yes to both your questions. The AI fighters occasionally like to crash into the stations concerning mechanics. And for some stupid reason, a lot of people like to use autopilot to dock, which sometimes results in the autopilot smashing their ship to pieces on the side of a station. Never happened to me though, because I've always been clever enough to dock manually, I don't think I've ever really used autopilot on my own ship other than for capturing ships with M6's.
I'm interested in the fighting mechanics for this game. Are there a wide variety of weapons and can you have large space battles?
Weapons are really classed into missiles, energy weapons and I think ammo weapons. There are different ones in each class and they each perform differently for different situations.
Of course you can have large space battles, but you're never gonna be thrown into anything more than dogfighting early on.
you're never gonna be thrown into anything more than dogfighting early on.
You mean the story won't throw you into large battles early on. I ran into a fight between a Xenon Q, 2 P's, and a few L's, M's, and N's early on in the game, so the statement you made isn't quite true.
Don't forget the entirely random two sectors that the Kha'ak invade. And there's always two sectors under assault, they respawn after being destroyed in another sector.

Yeah I own the game too but I am nowhere near able to blow up a SPP.
Doesn't say it can't be your own.
Shame... I can't get the achievement because the game decided my unmodified game was modified. I think it has something to do with the game thinking that the antivirus software is a script running so it decides the game is modified, thus disabling achievements.

Alright but you have what, an M4 at the start of the game? I started off in a Buster so I'm not gonna help in a fight like that at all
Alright but you have what, an M4 at the start of the game? Fortunately there was a patrol in the area that went and sorted them out(I managed to get the last hit on the Q which I was quite glad of because it helped with my fight rank :D), although it cost them one of their M1's.

Oh Jesus, that sounds like shit. At least it wasn't your M1.
Either way I'm rolling along with an M3, I think it's the Argon one, whatever it is. Good ship.
fuck me, I got x3 gold two days ago, now the superbox is 4 bucks cheaper...
