Is this one buggy as hell like the original?
Yeah the terran plot is filled with bugs but the game overall is good, Just like X3 once it was patched.
The the original was just a pain for me..so many bugs, finally, after completing the actual storyline there was no reward at all, and it just left you there with nothing to do, apart from grind, for NO reason at all. I mean, I'd understand if you could use your ship in a multiplayer mode or something, but no, there's no reason for it >:C
Well, after capping a number of ships and selling them, i have 4 mercuries, 1 isn't a tanker and the rest are.
they make money like crazy, i just go off and play farcry and come back with 200,000 more, and some of my ships might still be full of wares
The missions in this game are definitely more worthwhile than in Reunion. You can make a lot of money very early on doing missions for stations. It's a great way to get enough money to get your first few Universal Traders and stations up and running.
Does anybody have a control guide for Terran Conflict? I recently purchased it and am enjoying it so far, but the controls are kind of awkward to figure out.

Do you mean sector traders? I thought they were bugged. They don't seem to be working for me or my friend.
Can you get Trade Software MkIII on any equipment dock now? I remember trying to find it when I first started out, then realizing that only the Teladi would have them in Reunion.
ugh. That was terrible.
In the original you could get them in terracorp HQ too...

terracorp in home of light has it, but you need to suck the argon fed's collective hairy bureaucratic cock for a long while before you can get your hands on it.
it also is half a mil creds.

no, you just need to find the right places to do so.
empire's edge, red light and the wall are my favorites.
Edit:
my guys leveled up pretty quick too, my fleet of 4 has 3 level 10 traders and 1 level 9 (i haven't checked lately, so some could be level 11 or 12, and the level 9 might be level 10 by now)

In addition to this, does anybody have any tips for a beginner to the game and series as a whole?
I have somehow ended up with 4 5MJ shields -- can I sell all but one of these and not have any reduction in protection (do the effects stack) or are the effects of multiple shields cumulative?

Meh, when I tried it in various sectors they just sat there on 'standby' not trading anything, even after a very long time and trying different sectors. :(

In X2 they stacked, but only to a certain extent. Unequip one and see if your shields drop at all. If they do I would recommend you keep it.

How would I see if they drop? Will the blue bar indicating shield strength decrease, or is it some other method that I haven't yet thought of?

There should be a number indicating your shield strength with the blue bar. If the max drops then you can add one more shield.

Check your ships' info screen for the max shield number. Having more shields in your cargo bay than your ship can use is a waste of space.

The sheilds add up to the total amount of protection you have. 5 x 5MJ shields would be equal to a single 25MJ shield.
However, each ship has a maximum number of shields and a limit to how powerful those shields can be. It should tell you the maximum amount of shielding and maximum power per shield that a ship can support in the ship information.
Example:
If the maximum shielding a ship can support is shown as 5 x 25MJ shields that means it can have up to 5 shields installed and you can put any shield up to 25MJ into those slots. Combinations of 5x25MJ (125MJ total), 5 x 5MJ (25MJ total), or 3 x 5MJ plus 2 x 25MJ (65MJ total) would all work. However, 1 x 125MJ (125MJ total) would not work because the ship can't support a single shield more powerful than 25MJ and 6 x 5MJ (30MJ total) would not work either because the ship can't support more than 5 shields.
I know in the Terran start you start out with 4 x 5MJ shields but the ship can support up to 5 x 5MJ shields, so you should have room to add 1 more 5MJ shield for added protection.
If your wondering why the ship supports 5 x 5MJ shields instead of 1 x 25MJ shield, smaller ships tend to support multiple smaller shields instead of one big one so you don't lose all of your shielding by losing one shield generator. Once your shields are worn down and you start taking enough hull damage you start to lose certain systems and components, such as scanners, missiles, and shield generators. If you have 1 x 25MJ shield generator and it got destroyed due to battle damage you'd be left with no shielding at all afterwards and would have to buy a new 25MJ shield generator, which is more expensive than a 5MJ shield generator.

either there wasn't anything to trade, your reputation with the faction owning the sector was to low or your ship didn't have any room or you didn't have enough monies.

I think they go on standby if there is no profit to be made also.
Finally managed to get the Terran plot done, few bugs hindered my progress but now finally started getting a little empire going. Bought a sat factory firstly and he's making money fairly good, 7.1k per sat and they're always sold out, every loves them :3:.
Still need to save up and outfit some escorts as a few Xenon Ps have made me have to re-buy some Mercurys. :(
Thanks for the answers, but I have another question. I have been given a mission to scan a space station, but I don't know how to do so. My ship is equipped with a duplex scanner, according to the freight screen.

Fly as close to it as you can and it should automatically start scanning. If it's not working fly to another part of the station and get close to that bit, get as close to the centre as you can.
If that doesn't work then see if you need to buy a freight scanner first.
Also I've decided that I'll build a Space Fuel complex in Teladi space to sell to pirate stations, does anyone have any suggestions for other profitable station complexes.

That worked, thanks.
I'm really enjoying the game so far -- it seems pretty hard to get on your feet when you're starting, but a challenging game is a pleasant change, heh -- but this escort mission is tedious as hell. It's not too long after the scan the station one, but the Scabbard travels incredibly slowly. :(

The sector patrols will destroy the station if it produces illegal goods.
Note that they only destroy your stations, so they won't shoot their own races' illegal crap.
They'll also blow up the entire complex hub and separate all your stations to destroy the illegal one. :v:

I suppose that's because if it belongs to a race there could be some diplomatic backlashing if a government's armed forces were to destroy it. On the other hand, the player is a private enterprise and it's perfectly within the bounds of the law to destroy that station.
Don't Teladi like Space Fuel anyway? I didn't think they even had contraband in their vocabulary.

Space Fuel is illegal to all races. Space weed is illegal to all races except Teladi.

A single sat factory is doing good for me in Omicron Lyrae.
Seem to be struggling in increasing my Terran rep.
Oh well, I've still got enough money to build some less illegal ones, but it's a bit out of the way anyway, and they leave the pirate base.

Conclusion: the teladi are just scaly hippies.
It's easier to get going in this game than it was in Reunion because of the amount of easy early money, but keeping it up is actually harder in this game.
Trading is much tougher now because the economy is more complete and doesn't have nearly as many gaps to take advantage of as Reunion. The NPC traders and corporations are much smarter now and make for some stiff competition.
Just installed the improved boarding script, really helpful because you don't need to cycle through all the menus just to board, just a hotkey.
:)
Loving the Vidar currently with 2 scimitars as wingmen. Hoping to get more of a fleet in the future.
