That's to download the patch, I'm looking for what you said about fixing missing shaders.
There was a fucking yellow submarine on the seafloor too inside some rocks.

e2: I remember another map, it was on the back of some Covenant ship. The only thing I remember about it was that the Mission Impossible theme played when you crawled through a vent to get to the hangar. These obscure memories are giving me mega nostalgia chills, dudes.
My OS client doesn't want to download any of these maps. :|

I remember Yoyorast v2 being played pretty much nowhere because of the map being too complicated compared to the original, or something like that. Hugesnap was a good edit, but that other Coldsnap edit has an average enough rating that I'd probably just play the real one.

Oh, I see what you're talking about now. Since the HaloMods thread I found it on made avast! pissed, I rehosted the file on my Dropbox here.

It IS. Those Warthog attack boats just launched themselves around the map whenever I tried to drive one.

The .ppf file needs to be patched over Halo's bitmaps.map file, located in the game's directory. Use a tool like HHHT to patch it. The .DS_Store or whatever the hell it is file is just something created by OSX I guess, so that gets thrown out.

Ok thanks a bunch.
Halo:CE's net code is pretty atrocious, I'd recommend installing this for the server. From personal experience I noticed a huge difference in shot registration. http://www.modacity.net/forums/showthread.php?24803-Release-Halo-No-Lead-Fix-(Server-side)
The server app has a built in no-lead.

I feel your pain, I've been trying to find a way of setting up an OS download server to redirect to the HAC download servers, but I can't even find out where the HAC master server is located.

Added some links to these in the OP
For now, FacePunch Community server officially endorses HAC2 as a method of ingame map downloads. I will work on a method for OS tomorrow after i get home from work, but that does not gauruntee it will be in place then. I will attempt to get all suggested maps as part of the rotation at some point tomorrow as well.
that was a lot of fun. thanks for hosting and picking my shitty map suggestions
where did everyone go?
Thanks for playing christmas_halo, my friend and I had a very nostalgic remembrance moment.
The following process only applies to retail Halo PC. Custom Edition's file is incompatible, and you will break CE by trying this.
Ok, here's a more detailed/consolidated shader patch post.
The shader patch file is being hosted on my Dropbox account at these links - in .7z form, and in .zip form.
The tool to patch the shaders into the game, Helpful Halo Hacking Tool, can be found here. Make sure to click the direct download link below CNET's giant green download button so you can avoid whatever gross installer they've bundled with it.

First, make sure you know where the bitmaps.map file is located on your computer. Above, I've highlighted the default directory on my OS with an ugly red box (if you use a 32 bit OS then Program Files (x86) will simply be named Program Files). Safety first, so back up bitmaps.map, just in case.

After starting HHHT, make sure it's located the maps directory properly. If not, point it in the right direction. (Ignore the directory differences in my screenshots.) Next, you'll need to tell it where your patch file is. Navigating the folder selection dialog is a pain in the ass, so it's easiest to take the .ppf file and put it in HHHT's own directory, as I think it starts by looking there. Once that's set up, click on bitmaps.map to tell the program which file you want to patch, and double-click the patch file listed in the big gray box on the right. This adds it to the little box below it, indicating it's ready to be patched in. The last step is to click 'Apply Patch(es)'. It'll complain about not having a backup folder set, but you've already done that (or you don't care), so just tell it to piss off, and you'll be done.
would be lovely if i could join this server but I can't find a list of map rotations or the client won't even let me download any maps. It just boots me out the second I try and join.
Question, why hasn't anyone just uploaded the patched bitmaps file?
Can't wait to get in on this. Gotta install Halo today.

Added this to the OP, plus a guide on how to set up single player in custom edition

Are you using HAC2 or OpenSauce? We don't have a working OpenSauce download server for most maps just yet, so I recommend you switch to using HAC2 for now.
well i did that, tried to connect, and this came up

and it refuses to let me even start the game. The map isn't even IN the maps folder.
I'm getting a Gathering Exceptions error every time i try and start something up, it's not just the Zanzibar map, don't know what's causing that.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled halo, and it's still not working. Please help, you've literally broken my copy of the game.

Could be. I haven't been able to play in 6 years.

I get that whenever I try loading a map after applying the Xbox original shaders to the game. I know it's this as I backed up the original bitmaps.map and after reverting it back it worked fine. Any idea how to fix this?
I'd try and figure out what the deal is, but as it happens CE just plain exceptions out every time I try to start a map, regardless of any patching.
Question, why hasn't anyone just uploaded the patched bitmaps file?
[del]I would but my internet is shit and it's a 300mb file.[/del]
nvm, I was able to compress it to a tiny 60mb 7z: Patched bitmaps.map (Does not work in custom edition!)
Also because the patch doesn't work on CE's bitmaps file, apparently. Halomaps has an assault rifle shader fix for CE, and that's pretty much it.
Oh God I hope they consider fixing this shit officially, trying to figure out how to make the shaders work for CE makes me want to kill myself
Maybe we should use another link to download Custom Edition?
I'm fairly sure you don't need a CD key for it nowadays.
You still need the CD key for setup.

Map dump, they all use the stock CE tags.
