All this talk of Chapter 13 has me worried. What's the big deal with it?
All this talk of Chapter 13 has me worried. What's the big deal with it?
It's pretty drawn out and repetitive, and mostly consists of doing the same thing over and over. It's got some neat story moments but altogether the whole design of the chapter makes you wonder who even approved the drastic and elongated gameplay change it became.
Not to mention the gaps in the story.
Speaking of gaps, right near the start of the game where you're [sp]taking out the roadblock with Cor and are met with the piloted Magitek Mech boss at the end...[/sp] Who even was that guy. He looked important, but just... [sp]dies like a bitch in his robo-suit[/sp]
Is this game a good first Final Fantasy game? I've never played a FF game and I'm really tempted that once I have money to spend to buy XV.
Is this game a good first Final Fantasy game? I haven't dived in previously because I'm not a fan of turned based combat. The combat here is really fun though.

[sp]dies like a bitch in his robo-suit[/sp]
this has been bothering me a lot (amongst every other plot thing) mostly because no one talks about it and it's just hilarious how immediately he dies after his "important plot character" introduction
"Man, this guy's model is unbelievably high quality for someone who has 5 seconds screen time." -My reaction
Okay, what am I doing wrong? I've beaten the game and have been clearing up other quests from early on, but holy fuck what is going on, my characters are fighting enemies weaker than us but they're doing like no damage, and every time we're hit we lose like 90% of our life.
"Man, this guy's model is unbelievably high quality for someone who has 5 seconds screen time." -My reaction
Same, I was thinking "did I just kill the guy who I thought was gonna be my rival or something ?"
Same, I was thinking "did I just kill the guy who I thought was gonna be my rival or something ?"
Riiight??? I half-thought he'd be your typical unwinnable boss fight, since at one point [sp]Cor[/sp] even says "Ignis, take Noctis and run", but we just chunked the shit out of it since it's built with legs like an osteoporotic grandma.
he died??!? i thought he ejected up and into one of those flying things and I didn't notice
[sp]Ravus[/sp] ? They don't explain how he died.
No, the random dude who has sick armour but shows up for one cutscene to fucking get his ass kicked
he died??!? i thought he ejected up and into one of those flying things and I didn't notice
Naw, they give their little "long live... the empireeeee" before going boom.
Naw, they give their little "long live... the empireeeee" before going boom.
[sp]Except he totally comes back. I got spotted in the last base - not sure if it's the last or if you're supposed to get caught - and he comes back with the other general you knock out during the second base mission. You don't see either, as they're in Magitek armor, so again, why give him a model?[/sp]
[sp]Ravus[/sp] ? They don't explain how he died.
Listen to the radio on chapter 10, might have some clue
What the fuck? My fast travel is broken. It keeps teleporting me back to hammerhead for no reason
[sp]Ravus[/sp] ? They don't explain how he died.
They do actually... on the radio. [sp]He was executed for fucking up. Thanks for explaining that to us in-game and not randomly finding out on radio, Squenix.[/sp] [editline]9th December 2016[/editline]
What the fuck? My fast travel is broken. I find it funny I can get the Ultima Blade as early as Chapter 3. [sp]Though I wasn't able to pick it up from Cid until Chapter 6 since the goddamn empire JACKED MY RIDE[/sp]
Playing Justice Monsters, have 88 out of the 99 chests necessary, then BAM, XBoner freezes and game restarts. Data lost between previous save and then. Today's been a shit day from start to finish.
They do actually... on the radio. [sp]He was executed for fucking up. Thanks for explaining that to us in-game and not randomly finding out on radio, Squenix.[/sp]
That's a really shitty way of explaining stuff especially since the radios can easily be missed
I'm at chapter 10 and this game's story is a bad joke [sp]For about half of the game the story is nonexistent besides "let's go to altissa to get you to this girl!" oh and "let's get the royal arms, it's the one hope we have!" but I guess they stop caring because they're not even necessary to progress. After leaving that thread hanging I guess you get shoved into collecting summons? with titan it's literally "I'm having an anime vision!" then you very ambiguously make a pact and leave for the army to very ambiguously kick it out? then you start following ramuh because of plot device spirit and getting leviathan suddenly is this huge important deal because... I dunno... gotta catch em all I guess, now for some reason? I thought you guys were going there to get the girl? or some ring thing? Also at some points in there an old man with like 2 minutes of screentime dies and everyone is sad I guess, and one of The Bros leaves for no reason and comes back with a naruto renegade scar in the most shameless abuse of obvious dlc I've seen in a long time, minutes later the same character is turned into a living marketing ruse of cup noodles. Cut to: Literally Venice, you get this ridiculously gorgeous town that you spend exactly 20 minutes in, kick the shit out of leviathan even though that's what the empire wanted but it's ok if you do it? then Luna ambiguously Maybe-dies in a beautiful cgi cutscene longer than the rest of her total game screentime combined which makes no impact whatsoever because she's an emotionless plot device. Another of the bros shows up and surprise he's blind who knows why, buy a season pass and find out!!! Cut to: The empire... for some... reason? why are we here exactly? Big Bro is very annoyingly passive agressive to an implied-to-be-sulking-but-not-really Noctis, is he mad that he fought a freaking sea dragon and saw his forced girlfriend get stabbed? what did he exactly do that wasn't offscreen dlc fodder?[/sp] that's where I am now and I'm assuming at least some of this gets a bit clearer in the end chapters and if not, well, the roadtrip bit was fun I guess
Okay credit where it's due. Chapter 6 boss spoilers [sp]Saw the dragoon jump into the air and watched her flit around for all of two seconds before thinking "WAIT I WONDER IF THIS'LL WORK" then warp striking her and having midair duals complete with slamming her into the dirt. That was cool as fuck and I'm glad that sudden idea had payoff.[/sp]
I have no idea how to play that stupid Amazon Road Trip game. I've been tapping and holding each other button prompts, but it won't work.
Some you tap, others you hold. There was an issue with certain browsers that made it not work.
Who the FUCK (Endgame) [sp]Thought a platforming dungeon was a good idea in a game where the main character controls like he has a disability[/sp]
I'm glad Prompto is there to capture all the moments I missed
