I don't know, but the game literally says "A Final Fantasy for fans and first-timers." when you boot it up.
Nah [editline]11th December 2016[/editline]
Is this game a good first Final Fantasy game?
Is this game a good first Final Fantasy game? I've never played a FF game and I'm really tempted that once I have money to spend to buy XV.
It's good. But it's not the best. I'll just drop some recommendations and suggestions ja? Final Fantasy I - it's a simple yet compelling RPG, but may feel too barebones in terms of story (and gameplay mechanics), recommended Final Fantasy II - it has a weird 'stat level up' system which is only exclusive to the second game and is where many fans are divided, you either love or hate it, don't recommend Final Fantasy III - if you played Final Fantasy I and liked it, then you'll like FFIII, although very difficult, maybe after beating I or II Final Fantasy IV - refined gameplay and is when the story started to become good, recommend Final Fantasy V - it's good, but hammered for its ruthless difficulty, might not be a good game for a first time player, not recommended Final Fantasy VI - called the 'best' by many it is generally well liked out of the FF games and is a safe one to get into, recommended Final Fantasy VII - it's very, very easy to get into, and is good, but it may feel a bit 'slow' for some but all in all, good game for starters, recommended Final Fantasy VIII - it's not one you should probably start with, not recommended Final Fantasy IX - generally beloved and well liked and called the 'best' (like VI) in the series, although it can seem very difficult for first time players, don't recommend (until you beat the ones before it that is) Final Fantasy X - it's my favourite, but I understand the criticism towards it, and therefore it may (or may not be) a good game to get into if you're starting out, probably not recommended As for the rest, many are divided about XII, a lot of people hate XIII and the MMO games (XI and XIV) are generally liked. And XV is good. It's up to you.
Final Fantasy III - if you played Final Fantasy I and liked it, then you'll like FFIII, recommend Final Fantasy V - it's good, but hammered for its ruthless difficulty, might not be a good game for a first time player, not recommended
III is arguably harder than V in some respects, especially with only being able to save on the overworld in the former. They're both games that prioritize mixing and matching classes and abilities with the Job System and countering boss strategies after a likely defeat or two, especially V since you can master different Job abilities and mix them with other Jobs. If you want a thinking man's Final Fantasy in terms of the mainline games, these two are interesting in their own ways and the sheer amount of options in V can give you a lot to figure out, but they're both arguably veteran's titles due to their requirement to know what you're doing.
I fucking HATE the sidequests that make you look for 5 hidden things on the ground
I fucking HATE the sidequests that make you look for 5 hidden things on the ground
Especially when they're so fucking small and blend into the landscape. THOSE FUCKING FROGS [editline]11th December 2016[/editline] It also doesn't help that they give you a large ass area to search
The frogs are easy, you can hear them when you're near. The bear traps on the other hand...
Your buds cry out when you are near one. Whoever crosses one should just take damage and consider it collected, makes sweeping easier and unique. Inspecting pipes in Lestallum was hell tho.
Your buds cry out when you are near one. Whoever crosses one should just take damage and consider it collected, makes sweeping easier and unique. I spent half an hour looking for the last one only to find out it was literally right next to the first one I found near the quest giver :suicide:
Sidequests have the advantage of being short at least. Did Steyliff Grove Dungeon – Level 86 extra dungeon yesterday. Took four hours to complete since every other group of enemies were tonberry permutations. (I did this with lvl 99 characters and with the best gear/weapons in the game).
Just got to crestholm channels and proceed to get my shit kicked in by the nagaroni. Finally beat it with lavish use of elixirs. Cool just got to find the tomb now I think. Do the switches get to the gate. Oh god, that's a boss arena. I am afraid. [editline]12th December 2016[/editline] There isn't even a royal arm. What is this shit.
I'm so glad I got the headlights and GTFO out of there, that Nagaroni was frustrating. Though it wasn't as annoying as the goblin things I forgot the name of, they irritate me immensely. My go to preparations for RPGs is just buy a lot of HP recovery items and chug them as I fight, so being petrified and Toaded was my wake up call to buy more shit :v:

Also theres another boss after that one that requires powering up the 4 generators in the dungeon.
You see as obvious as that strategy is, I would of never thought of that, the only recovery items my mind ever sees as worthy is HP and Revive ones. So seeing me prepare for this dungeon gave me the first ever feeling of playing an RPG right, it was pretty nice! I know about the true boss I just can't be assed to go through that dungeon again for a bit since it's so easy to get lost. Besides I'm underleveled anyway. [editline]12th December 2016[/editline] I have to admit though, the Blood Sword you find there is nice
Why does Luna look super generic and forgettable ingame, but actually decent and uniquely modeled in Kingsglaive?
Chapter 10 is like, the worst thing ever so far. [sp]Just beat the Malbero after meandering through the fucking slowest dungeon in the goddamn world. It kept saying "ESCAPE THE AREA AND REGROUP" but every time I did it would end the battle and nothing would happen. Like 5 rotations of dealing with bad breath I finally noticed it's "hurry and escape" didn't actually want me to leave but run to the other side of the monster. Absolutely frustrating when I could basically kill it in a couple combos[/sp]

Look at the world map the next time lodgings are available, [sp]you can literally see it a good distance away from the train station that supposedly had you descending 'into' it, and said train station had nothing but desert firmly below whereas the dungeon has an open sky and moisture everywhere.[/sp]

But then I realized that wasn't the end of the dungeon and I swiftly left. :v: Level 45 was clearly too low to take that shit on. [editline]derp[/editline] I found the Blood Sword, but since I acquired the Ultima Blade as early as chapter 3 every single sword I've found since then just pails in comparison.
How does one get the Ultima sword? I know you have to upgrade the engine blade but it still alludes me how upgrading works, they all say I need to wait
How does one get the Ultima sword? I know you have to upgrade the engine blade but it still alludes me how upgrading works, they all say I need to wait
Non-story spoilers, but for the upgrading and Ultima Blade: [sp]When you get an ingredient/treasure needed for a Weapon Upgrade and take it to Cid, you need to do two quests/hunts and then rest, and he'll call you when you wake up with the upgrade finished. The Engine Blade gets two upgrades before an exclusive third upgrade quest pops up. You need a Sturdy Helixhorn, and the place most people go for it is for The Last Spiracorns rank 2 hunt at Old Lestallum, which has two Duplicorns with a 10% break drop rate on their horns for the item. The best solution is to use a nearby campground, eat a Mother and Child Rice Combo you can get from Lestallum by seeing a woman eating in the open so that you can increase your item drop rate by 50%, and then go hack some Duplicorn horns until you get the Sturdy Helixhorn. There's another Old Lestallum hunt that has way tougher -corn type enemies with a 75% drop rate, but that's like a Rank 5 hunt, so it's not very productive.[/sp]
Got it! Gonna try it now! [editline]13th December 2016[/editline] Is it bad that the Ultimate pose Noctis does for Prompto photo ops makes the Jojo theme play in my head? :v:

[editline]13th December 2016[/editline] I like how there's only like 2 Malboros in the game. They're my most favorite/hated enemy in the series.
Why does Luna look super generic and forgettable ingame, but actually decent and uniquely modeled in Kingsglaive?
Cause i feel like they did the other 2 female characters after they had already created Luna. Cindy has bright colors, yellow eyes and shows skin so she's memorable for sex appeal. Aranea is a badass dragoon so you remember her although she doesnt get much screen time. And then Luna we don't deal with except for 1 chapter 3/4 of the way into the game.
Anyone else think Iris is absolutely adorable? I think Iris is absolutely adorable.
Well it is a Jojo reference so...
It is?? I just thought it was a generic pose and I was projecting jojo into it . Oops lol
Finished Chapter 13. Those were the weakest ""jumpscares"" I've ever seen. I have no idea why I was so worried lol. Worst part of that slog though was [sp]finding out Bahamut is just a huge dude in a suit of armor. They really didn't want any non-humanoid things in this game did they? Such a cool fucking design, wasted.[/sp]
I finished the game. Thoughts: I am very biased when it comes to stories that focus on bonding with your bros, in that respect FFXV pretty much gave me everything I wanted. That said, the bros needed a tad bit more character development ye? [sp]Still teared up at that mid-credits scene though. can't help it, have a soft spot for brotherhood[/sp] Combat is fucking great but it's also unsatisfying at the same time. It just doesn't feel good when you're getting rocked by a boss but you just beat em anyways because you spammed items. The boss fights should have focused more on FFXV's strengths, mainly the warping. The best combat sequences are the ones that require you to warp around like a madman Open world is ace but needs a lot of QoL improvements. A lot of the frustration with it can be removed by just shortening load times (basically port it to PC you fucking mongs it's 2016) The plot is the weakest part of the experience but even that has a lot of memorable moments [sp]That sequence after Luna's death, jesus christ[/sp] I actually like the story overall, even though I had to look some stuff to make sense of all of it Music was kind of meh, not very many memorable tracks which is a shame for a franchise known for its music. Luckily you can listen to other FF tracks though. Also Stand By Me is great. I'm not sure why I'm hearing a lot of hate for the ending? I liked it a lot. Overall rating: 8/10, I would be completely fine with squenix choosing to move FF in this direction for future installments.
I met Ifrit This is by far, by faaar the absolute worst Ifrit design in the entire franchise. God I hate this "everything has to be a human" bullshit.
