Well the combat's about what I predicted; unwieldy and hard to really control precisely while more than willing to let enemies dogpile you if you slack off. But i'm level 10 and [sp]right at Dino for getting the Ferry to Altissia[/sp] and yet I feel like I should go explore more since my brother found an overpowered two-handed sword just out somewhere and I have no idea where. Also my brother bought me my own copy for an early Christmas gift so we both have copies now, and he got the strategy guide to boot.

that "overpowered" 2h sword is one you can buy from a vendor in approximately one more chapter, don't worry about it it's a random treasure reward i think

Should I at least level up a bit more before I tackle the next area, points of no return (even if it's not permanent) always get me weary.

Turn on through Options > Combat > Wait Mode

I played like 5 hours, so far it doesn't feel like anything has happened at all. [sp]Really odd Kingsglaive clips to substitute the Empire attack, I guess that E3 2014 trailer section got cut?[/sp]

I dislike how some quests are gated unless you progress through the story

It's a necessary evil for avoiding leveled lists.

I'm curious to know how the game has been recieved in Japan. The move to real-time combat seems like an attempt to appeal to the western market.

He's an even bigger dork than Noctis, the youngest and most contemporary of the bunch, and everyone gives him shit all the time anyway.

I have honestly never played a game in my life where scaling enemies was a good thing. Enemies that get strong with you sounds good on paper but usually in practice it just takes all the fun out of leveling up. I wanna go back to earlier areas and see how strong I've become, I don't want some shit tier goblin to kick my ass when I'm supposed to be the freaking hulk.

I was a bit sceptical about this game especially after I tried the demo but I decided to get it anyway. Honestly, it's so refreshing and different that I really like it. Also Noctis group is just so hilarious, it's just so campy at times.

I get that it might be too early to ask, considering games like these seem to take hundreds of hours to fully understand what it's all about, but is the story any good? And is the framerate at least a solid 30 on a standard PS4?

It's alright though, almost like Bloodborne.
