Ah the game now works for me. It's pretty cool once you get a bunch of guys.
Should I buy this game, and what are the Specs required to play it well
Should I buy this game, and what are the Specs required to play it well
Try the demo and find out if you can play it?
Try the demo and find out if you can play it?
Aha, I didn't see the demo. I will try it
I really hope they ditch the desert landscape. This looks promising but the visuals make it look so bland.
I really hope they ditch the desert landscape. This looks promising but the visuals make it look so bland.
He's mainly focusing on stability and AI for now. He plans on hiring up an artist to brighten up that bland desert once he gets enough money for one
I would say anything that disappoints you while you're playing the demo is probably likely to be addressed, either by the developer himself or by modders. Any lack of features, content, polish, visuals, audio, etc. That anybody experiences can easily be addressed by the fact that it is early alpha. If you like the idea of base-building and squads, but you'd rather see purple unicorns with laser guns fighting across a vast jungle, then there'll probably be mods for that too eventually.
Since it's in the desert, is pocket sand a possible weapon you can use?
On Dec 1 There was an update improving the AI, adding a few items, and making right-clicking a bit more intuitive. I guess now there's a few more reasons to buy the game :D The initial thought of this post was to get the ball rolling a little, so if anybody has been playing and have fun stories to tell then please do! I'm also sure Zeke is referencing something, I'm not sure what it is though, so I can't respond appropriately :( EDIT: My friend just linked me to Pocket Sand, haha :p
I preordered the game a few months ago, completely forgot about it, remembered it was a thing, reinstalled it, and I'm having a heck of a lot of fun. The game is considerably more smoother than it was earlier this year. The guy making it is still hard at work on this, and it looks like you can build buildings, now! This is my current squad at the moment. I'm not sure if there's an upper limit on the number of people you can recruit, but 6 feels like plenty, right now. I love how you have to equip anyone you recruit, as they always start with rubbish equipment. You have to decide between upgrading your current squad's equipment, or spending the coins so the new members have decent equipment.

Although you'll spend days hauling the fucking blocks around. Also, it's greenlit on Steam. I'm moderately confident that this will turn into a great game. If not, I'm quite sure they'll at least make it a great engine for other teams to build amazing mods on.
Ah, yeah, I forgot it was greenlit. That's good news. [editline]22nd November 2012[/editline] Just added two more people to my squad after a huge looting run. I like that unless you're evenly matched in numbers, the stats of your character don't matter very much when you're outnumbered.
I voted for this on greenlight a while ago, before it was playable, and i just recently bought it and its AMAZING. So much fucking fun. I've been playing it for a week and I've built an entire city with guards and a saloon and everything. Unfortunately though now I've run out of things to do besides raising an army and conquering the other cities. Really excited to see the rest of this game develop.
ay don't get short with me
I'm not sure there's a game in the world thats good enough to have a $20 price point for the Alpha. That said the game still looks cool.
is this still being worked on?
is this still being worked on?
Yes. They've stepped it up somewhat recently, or they have been at it for a while, and i just haven't noticed, but how about checking out their blogs instead. http://lofigames.com/blog/
Never saw this before. Reading through the features it sounds like it's going to be incredible if/when it actually gets finished.
I haven't played it in awhile. Thanks for bumping this thread so I can check out all the updated stuff since I've last played. Putting it in super experimental beta mode right now.
Just watch out for twirling NPC's.
Oh man, it's been that long?
This game looks like a buggy PoS
This game looks like a buggy PoS
I wouldn't judge so quickly. It's a pretty fun game.
Huge update released with the new map, and a bunch of other things.
NEW WORLD (0.90.0) Due to the sheer size of the new map the first release will be restricted to a certain area only. This area will gradually expand with more updates, but the main focus now is going to be on stability and polish. This first build will be full of bugs and instability, please send us crashdumps and bug reports so we can fix it up. Content: -Entirely new world map. More detailed and polished, new factions, new content, things to explore. Its' like Kenshi 2. Crazy. I should have called it Kenshi 2 and charged for it again, but I didn't. Damn. -Entirely revamped research tech-tree, new technologies and balance. Research is faster, but has a cost in items or artifacts. -Totally new buildings. Multiple floors, and you can mount turrets on the rooftops. -New power system. Generators require fuel, wind power fluctuates with the wind strength, batteries compensate for fluctuations. Fuel can be made from crops. -Revamped farming system and different crops. -New animals, and new races with own strengths and weaknesses. -There's water now. Rivers to cross and oceans to drown in. -Camping- You can build easy camp beds and fires for survival when travelling -Things and places to find. Bandit bases, old labs, ruins. Gameplay: -Hunger is now a thing. You can die of starvation although it takes a long time. Your characters appearance reflects their state of physical strength or malnutrition. -Buildings are now made with multiple materials. Machinery requires iron and sometimes copper. -Thievery is improved, buildings have things to steal, guards are more alert. -Leather crafting now requires you to hunt for animal skins -Nice new zoomable world map window. It's so nice. -Your stats are now affected by injuries and malnutrition. -Certain animals might now eat your crops, your dead bodies, and sometimes even your unconscious bodies. -NPCs use the stuff in their homes, guards train, people sit etc -Guards in buildings and shops now descreetly sort of follow you about, keeping an eye on you -Fixed getting busted for stealing from accidental clicks. You can look inside unlocked containers, and lock picking has to be chosen through the right-click menu. -Reduced labour/engineering speed penalty at level 1 from 0.25x to 0.5x. This will speed things up slightly at the lower levels when starting out -Stealth skill is easier to train in non-hostile environments. -Increased trade profitability by 50%, this combined with thievery should provide decent alternatives to looting as a profession in the early game stage. -Characters with a turret job will automatically use whichever turret has enemies in its line of fire. -New long-distance move command, so you can click on distant terrain and your characters will run there -Tons of bugfixes. Engine: -New fancy shadow system, looks nicer and more importantly runs faster. -New terrain engine. Runs faster, looks nicer and shows more detail for distant mountains -Long-range pathfinding system. You can click on any visible distant mountain and your characters will find their way there, following roads. -A lot of fundamental engine optimisations have been done, this may temporarily cause new bugs, but hopefully speed things up -Bit of an overhaul to the animation system, runs faster and combat animation should be a little smoother and have more functionality -Overhauled with a new PBR & HDR global lighting system, should make a great improvement to the visual quality -(Credit for this goes to Linda MacGill and Igor Frolov of Bug Zen!)
ahhh now we have two threads
Well, this thread has seniority. :downs:
lets just use the other one because there's been more discussion recently. https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1450789&p=50042008#post50042008
Or we could stick to this one, since it's the one that was made first, hopefully avoiding more duplicate threads.
Turns out stats is now connected with body value modifiers. This is what real strength looks like.
Honestly, I have begun to loose interest in this game. When I bought it 3-4 years ago, it looked like and was described as a post apocalyptic game in the remains of some old Chinese dynasty, or something. Now one of the races is an alien? And there is dinosaurs? wandering around in the dunes. Also one of the main threats is suddenly cannibals? It just doesn't seem that interesting anymore.
It's not doing an awfully good job keeping me interested either. I just occasionally have a poke at it to see if they finally assed themselves with some proper optimization. And probably when they're done adding new areas, animals and races.
