Started a new game recently and I'm not sure how I feel about the new map. It almost feels too busy. I really liked the mostly desert theme of the Alpha. Seems like they tried too hard to make the biomes varied when it doesn't really add that much but clutter.

Also the performance is still quite awful. I know it's a beta but the game isn't that impressive graphically speaking. I'm still having plenty of fun but it makes me worried that this is what they consider to be a Beta.
So I've been practically been playing the game non-stop for the last three days. I think I may have been playing on an obsolete version because I imported my squad after a new patch and the performance is awesome and there's been a ton of changes so I may have been stuck on a 6-month old save.
Anyway, here's my squad:

We're basically the Diamond Dogs. From left to right, we have:
[B]Leaf[/B], the team's greenhorn. Fortunately she's motivated, she begged me to take her in.
[B]Lars[/B], more like lardass. First to find trouble and first the get wrecked, can rarely take a hit. I keep him out of pity.
[B]Ruka[/B], officially my second in command. She's an exiled Shek but she can swing a freaking buster sword like nobody's business. Guaranteed reliable.
[B]Ray[/B], Hive Drone turned slave turned meatshield for our us. Bought his freedom, gave it to him and I guess he decided to stick around. Adapts fast.
[B]Gills[/B], team dad. Does almost everything that doesn't require swinging a katana. Has more smarts, wisdom and elbow grease than the rest of the team combined. Pictured making lunch for the squad.
[B]Mortez[/B], strong silent type. Mentors the rookies and the Big Boss' secret best bro.
[B]Setles[/B], another new recruit. Paranoid but he's got a lot of potential as a swordsman.
[B]Kaishaku[/B], team mom (but a guy). If you've got a boo boo he'll make it all better. So gentle he'll snap you bones back in place only after you pass out from the pain, so you won't even notice.
[B]Jenna a.k.a. BIG BOSS[/B], master of espionage and CQC, leader of Diamon Dogs. On more than one occasion used herself as bait to distract the enemy away from her squad when odds were overwhelming.
[B]Kang[/B], hardass Shek mercenary that has join our cause for money before coming to respect the Big Boss.
[B]Griffin[/B], our newest join. Holy Nation Paladin, he's on a quest for something and he thinks he might be able to complete it by coming along with us. As long as he fights well, he can stay.
