Okay... I can't be the only one who really, REALLY hate the pounce "charge" jump? It doesn't help that pressing down near a ledge will roll the slugcat down the cliff, making jumps on single platforms more than frustrating.
Pls advise.

I am not sure if this helps but for me if its a slanted surface pressing against it instead of straight down works wonders.
[QUOTE=Matto;52027283]Rizzler, if its not too late, don't go in that direction! If you go the same way I did, only more pain awaits you!
After drainage, I went [sp]down, into the hell known as Air Filtration[/sp][/QUOTE]
Haha oh no. So is there another path from the first area to somewhere else other than drainage? I thought I did a fair bit of exploring, couldn't find any other gates?
[QUOTE=Noob4life;52026799]So quick question here, just played like 30mins:
So I can't really run around exploring? Cuz it seems that when the rain comes you are fookin' ded if u don't find shelter.[/QUOTE]
Yeah it's best to familiarise yourself with an area/find all suitable habitat spots (bats flying around, blue fruit growing) and then you can make trips from the safe room to these habitat rooms and back. Always memorise where the nearest safe room is so you can make a beeline back if you get yourself into trouble.
You need to 'prove' that you can survive consistently in an area before you can progress.

Yeah it's pretty much impossible to do a long jump on one square's worth of footing. I wasn't paying attention one time and there was a 'dark pipe' (a platform you can jump through but also stand on) that extended the platform that I could have stood on, so pay attention to that.
Don't forget you can throw spears into walls to use as a foothold.
It's actually a pretty nice system, you can store food in your shelter too and it doesnt close outright if you dont stay for too long. Let's be chipmunks!

Fuck those red reptiles though. [sp]And the tentacle raep pole that sticks out of an old tube in the ground[/sp]
Underwater sections are the worst fucking thing though
The controls aren't as tight as they should, most of the time you can barely see where you're going and you only get a couple of seconds to spare before drowning
Sometimes it takes one second too long to figure out you're stuck bumping against a rock and back to the start you go
Guys! Extra controls he never told us of! Double tap X on the XBOX controller and you switch hands, go on all fours and press X and you drop your item. I am getting good at this shit.
[editline]29th March 2017[/editline]
Oh yeah also in case you didn't know you can hold down X to store an item in your mouth that you can cough up later by holding X again.

This is only thing in the game that makes me want to ragequit. Just then, in Shoreline, I went up through a shortcut which dumped me at the bottom of the fucking ocean. Naturally, due to the bullshit way water works, I drowned before making it to the surface. I mean come on.
[editline]29th March 2017[/editline]
Currently attempting to backtrack to the first region because I regret not following the yellow observer.
Just ate a drug mushroom to dodge a group of 10+ pissed scavengers, narrowly dodging 4~6 spears like a champ.
One brave scavenger pursued over 4 maps and capped my ass.
fml
Really struggling with the controls here. Climbing poles during tight situations are such chores.

Adding to this, whatever's in your character's right hand (stage left) is what you'll throw when you hit B.
This game really, really needed a better fucking tutorial.

I think discovery through experimentation is a huge part of this game, though. I discovered a lot of stuff like switching hands and taking shroom drugs by accident
edit: This article will probably help some (including me - go up at the start of the game, not down :hammered:)
According to this slugcat can also to a backflip jump? Can someone try this out?
[url]http://www.pcgamer.com/rain-world-hints-tips[/url]
Yes, you can do a backflip which is considerably better than the shitty hop.
However, you need a running jump. Just pull back then press jump during the direction transition (you get a small boost of speed).
I don't find it useful.
[editline]just now[/editline]
Extra tips from me personally, 8 hours playtime:
Region: [sp]Don't say region 3/4...? It seems that you can travel to multiple places from industrial complex alone (I found 3 so far)[/sp]
If your slugcat is butt rubbing instead of crawling the ventilation like a decent being, press jump while moving to switch direction. I think it makes you crawl faster. (DO NOT DO THIS DURING PANIC MODE)
From there, you can press jump while crawling the ventilation to dash.
Moves: [sp]Hold down-forward while falling down to do a combat roll.[/sp]
Moves: [sp]Hold down-forward jump while running to do a slide. I haven't master this yet so now it's dang unreliable.[/sp]
You can't swallow / store food if you are already full.
Bats won't appear in your save point if you brought one with you to hibernate.
Survival: [sp]You can eat worms, if you kill them with spear.[/sp]
5 Pebbles (Unfortunate Development) is literally hell. If you ever see the red satan gate that requires max karma, be ready for quite the ride.

While running full speed, change direction and you slide a bit. Press Jump as you're kicking up some water.
[editline]29th March 2017[/editline]
Also, I've found you can get quite close to edges while crouched. Half your body can be hanging off which gives you some more distance in pounces.
[editline]29th March 2017[/editline]
Also, has anyone here followed the yellow observer dude at the start? He was trying to lead me somewhere [sp]flashing pictures of a black slugcat?[/sp] I ignored it at the time but I've now come back to find it but [sp] he keeps trying to lead me back to some alien thing in Shoreline that I didn't encounter yet. Is there some little event or something in Industrial? Or have I missed it? I'm up to cycle 40 or something by this point [/sp]
Never eat a golden flower if you already ate one, it does nothing and is a big waste, I am not sure if you can take it with you in hibernation.
[editline]29th March 2017[/editline]
I would really wish he released the source for the movement system lol I am really interested in it as a hobbyist.
[editline]29th March 2017[/editline]
Wiki claims there is cooperative gameplay, Steam site says that it is only singleplayer. I am confused as hell.
Does eating the plants that the bats like do anything? Or are you supposed to just use it as bait?
[editline]29th March 2017[/editline]
There used to be coop, ages ago. The whole game was remade for the kickstarter. That's why some older videos you might find look so different.
I hope co-op being added in a later update isn't off the table. Things can get pretty with just one slugcat running around.
Are the pups still a thing?

There is an achievement for it I think so yeah.
The game is SO MUCH EASIER if you go up rather than down lmao
Reminds me of dark souls how some people went into the catacombs rather than up the hill to the much much easier area haha
edit: I say this, then I get instakilled by a lizard about 2 meters from the safe room (apparently they can teleport)
Once when I camped out in the garbage wastes, as soon as the safe room door opened two centipede things immediately dropped in with me with a purple lizard chasing them.
Shortest cycle I've had yet :v:
No, the lizards have tongues.
[sp]Holy shit the chameleon lizards are fucking brutal[/sp]
I love the fact that if an enemy drops you before it can get to its burrow the game over ends and you can scurry to safety if you have the chance. It's probably one of the coolest features.
I know my day is already ruined when I see a troop of Scavengers outside my bunker congesting the pipes after hibernating.
I engaged in a heated battle with lizard for like 10 minutes of me stabbing the shit out of this nerd. Can you kill them with the sharp sticks? I got a lot of good throws in and recovering the spear stuck in the lizard without getting snatched was really tricky and satisfying. It's a shame if it's not possible to kill them.

Fear incarnate!
So major spoilers here I think involving the chimney canopy.
[sp]Anyone find the giant floating squid thing with the chill music and you start acting all drugged out as you get closer? When I got close to it I suddenly went back to my last vault and gained two new karma levels above the saint one. An O and an I.[/sp]
I sort of wish spears lodged in walls would disappear after a few cycles because I've placed so many in dumbass places including places that actively interrupt platforming and get me stuck.

Was it a green one? Those ones are pretty tough. I've seen them killed in a hail of scavenger spears before.

How in the name of fuck alshitty did you fucking do that shit?
Anyone figured out the hand signs of scavengers? I don't trust those suckers but they are still code so it must mean there's a pattern to their behavior.
I think I know that...
- When they point their weapon at you that means they want you to keep away or stay still?
- When they reel their weapon that means you are welcome?
- When they look at you as they are moving away that means they are paranoid?
- When they start tossing rock that means you should gtfo (or kill their asses)?
- When they extend their arm towards you that means they trying to rob your gem?
My current progress:
[sp] Currently at Shoreline, just ate the robot's jellyfish so my tummy glows. I think I'll head to Shaded Citidel when I'm able, or Subterranea(?) if I stumble across it again (I died last time I went there) [/sp]
Tis' game's pretty stressful. I die way too many times to the rain.
From my experience there's no such thing as a friendly scavenger (with the exception of whenever you give them a pearl, and even then sometimes they seem to randomly try to kill you anyway), they may not attack you on sight and are more likely to run away or ignore you when they're alone, but they become aggressive much more easily if they're in a group
[QUOTE=lightningstreak;52030710]I sort of wish spears lodged in walls would disappear after a few cycles because I've placed so many in dumbass places including places that actively interrupt platforming and get me stuck.[/QUOTE]
They despawn eventually, I think it's random because I placed two of them to climb a wall and the one I placed more recently just disappeared while the other is still there
