Was it a green one? Those ones are pretty tough. I've seen them killed in a hail of scavenger spears before.
Yeah it was green.
How in the name of fuck alshitty did you fucking do that shit?
Get lucky with your throws and hit a vulture in the face 1-2 times. Be warned though they get really pissed and they will follow you everywhere you go outside. If you're having issues you can take off the mask in a tunnel and escape while they try to retrieve it.
How big must a centipede be to become a threat? Sometimes I don't feel the need to spear them unless I intend to feast.

Bigger than you. Like, two or three slugcats-long.
[sp]Is there a way to make webms smaller? I got one I made that I'd like to post but as it is currently it takes up waaaay too much screen space.[/sp]
tfw you try to save a friendly scavenger from the jaws of a lizard but when you throw your spear you end up hitting the scavenger in the gut instead.
:'c
I rushed two purple lizards in a tiny tube to get to the exit of a room. Throw rock, throw spear, recover spear and spam shift/x while holding direction key. No idea how I managed to get through that but in the end I survived an extra 3 rooms until a fucking centipede got the drop on me while I was trying to dodge a white lizard.
I feel like the only thing holding me back from pure predatory status is the fact I can't carry 2 spears and/or aim them above my character's current height. If I could do either one of those slugcat would be top of the food chain.
A roller-coaster of bad decisions and close calls

Oh boy it is starting to take me hours to traverse a single region. Subterranean as a whole took me at least 3 good hours because I couldn't scout a second save point.
Currently @ [sp]Drainage System, found to gate to Shaded Citadel (I hope?!?) Now grinding for karma[/sp]
Fighting lizards are the best bits of this game, everything else.... ehh... frustrating at times.
This game just feels so great to play. Probably the best game I've played in years.
Just made it from [sp]Shaded Citadel[/sp] to [sp]Shoreline[/sp](which I wanted to go from the latter to former since yesterday) in a single blind scouting run. Rain was pouring when I reach the save point.
I feel accomplished yet betrayed.
I was kinda puzzled about the karma system at first, it seemed like an excuse to pad the game's length by having you grind your karma back every time, but I understand what they were going for now
It rewards survival rather than trying to brute force your way through a section with suicide runs, and the game is a lot more intense when you have to make the conscious decision on which risks are worth taking. At the same time dying repeatedly has no consequences, other than when you eventually run into a karma door you'll have to stick around a while longer to prove you can actually survive long enough
The gates have been rather fair so far, and they're not very frequent either. When they're placed after a particularly difficult section they have no karma requirement, while the doors with high karma are often near open sections with multiple food sources around

And, finally, [sp]fuck five pebbles[/sp]
I still do suicide runs tho, I can't be bothered to slowly creeping to next save points. I do what I call a "suicide recon run" where I go as far as I could to scout for the next save point, die, then do a max food prep, hibernate, and do a careful rush to that point.
I just quickly grind back my karma (now that it is a little harder because [sp]I got 7 levels of karma instead of 5[/sp]) whenever I need to pass a gate since some save points have plenty of food nearby. I play a lot more careful when I got that protection flower since I can semi-perma stun my karma if I'm tactical with my deaths.
I do prefer if: max karma level is reduced, per cycle rain is prolonged, but food is more scarce. That way dying means that you lose more progress and you have to travel further to dangerous grounds to look for food, but you don't have to grind if you need karma to pass a gate. Currently I never have food problems unless I'm doing a suicide recon run.
I'm currently @ [sp]Chimney Canopy[/sp] and I'm really enjoying this zone. Vultures and disco Lizards are a joy to wrestle, unlike [sp]Drainage System[/sp] which should be deleted from the game ffs.
Five Pebbles gave me Daddy Long Leg PTSD

How do I hold onto the giant walking things in the Farm Arrays? I saw you can ride them in the trailer but I haven't been able to do so.
I can't play this game for more than a few minutes at a time.
If I do, I'm liable to chuck the controller across the room.
I still love it :v:

I have the same problem. I adore the game but fucking hell does it make me mad.
protip: never assume dead unless really are
I had a white lizard tongue stuck on me for 3 minutes before a Vulture swooped in to peck the lizard (thanks bro), immediately after a blue lizard came out of a pipe and bit me, ferry me over 4 maps before got into a fight with another white lizard. Resist pressing that space bar, dudes.
Also: Never trust them Scavengers. A pack of them used this opportunity to sneak past the white lizard. Didn't even say hi, such cunts.
I'm starting to understand the negative reviews of this game a lot more. After starting the game with what now seems exceptionally good luck, I am now stuck in the Farm Arrays due to bullshit bad luck. Every time I am close to exiting Farm Arrays I either die just before or just after the region gates. It is driving me insane, especially because I have to grind karma all over again - now with all the easy plant-food gone.
Current list of bullshit deaths:
Centipede camping only shortcut forward after jumping off rain deer.
Vulture picking me off back of rain deer when I was over a sea of worm grass with nowhere to go.
Two rain deers bowing to each other and refusing to go forward, in the middle of worm grass.
3 vultures guarding food source & progression after sky island region gate.
3 Green Lizard orgy in a pit which contained, you guessed it, the only forward.

You gotta use the white spore balls. Place one on the ground and it will bend down to eat it. Then grab onto its antlers like pole.
I recommend always having one spore in your gut and one in hands.

Yeah, it took me a while to figure that out. Even longer on how to do so without the deer bugging out, compressing me into a wall, or randomly jerking their head back and turning me into a natural slugcat satellite.
I think the deers could use some improving, or at least an alternative route.
Finally got out of Farm Arrays! And it led me straight back to fucking SUBTERRANEAN! KILL ME!
Are the days getting shorter for anyone else? Currently it barely lasts 10 minutes before the rain starts, I can't even make it to the next save point at times.

What cycle are you up to? I'm at about 80 and some days are short and some are long.
You can tell when you press space because there a more (or less) dots around your karma rank.
Aw I got so close to getting the hunter achievement.
I reached Chimney Canopy and it was a clusterfuck of lizards, vultures and scavengers, I camped there for a bit and got really close to getting it several times.
Eventually the place became a ghost town so I had to move on.
At least it was good practice

115+ as of now, the "rain dot timer" looks about the same almost every day...
This sucks, shorter days are NOT cool. I can't even afford to not rush if I need to move through new territory. Playing patience with creatures are out of the question, I need to keep moving at this point.
Edit: Oh nvm, there are still "long days", just kind of rare. Guess I'll only mobilize on these days then.
Does anyone know what the flashing pearl thing at the top of the communications array is for? It's a real bitch to get it and get back alive so I wanna know if its worth it...

Err... [sp]Do I just give it pearls? Nothing is really happening[/sp]
You didn't think it was going to be that easy, did you? [sp]Depending on the colors of the pearls (I dont know the details) you have to bring her a certain number of those flying jellyfish you can find around five pebbles. Have fun.[/sp]
