To clarify, on the Steam discussions page the creator said Steam Keys for Humble Bundle customers should roll out in a few days after release. Maybe the coordination between Steam and Humble is taking a while, but Steam keys should be free and coming Soon(TM) for people that bought via Humble Bundle.
So I made a bomber with functional ailerons, elevator, and rudder.
a cool challenge would be that of trying to complete every level with the same machine. wonder if anyone can pull it off.
I was inspired to try this by your post. I managed to do it, here's the machine: [img_thumb]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/42286867/besiegetank.png[/img_thumb] If people want I can make a video or give out the .bsg file. The archers pass level was a real fucker, I had to use the blades in the front to break off the front set of wheels to fit enough of the vehicle onto the 2nd move point. I then had to drive back down and go around to the last point. I should've put core block in the front :v:
a cool challenge would be that of trying to complete every level with the same machine. wonder if anyone can pull it off.
I managed most of it with various slightly-modified versions of the Crawler I posted earlier. [t]http://puu.sh/ffcfR.jpg[/t] I think the only level I COULDN'T do with it was Marksman's Pass or whatever.

It has less archers but the terrain is more difficult.

I'm gettin' my butt kicked by this sheep level. I can't figure out a way to make a machine that can climb up ledges, and the flying machine mechanics are a total mystery.
I'm gettin' my butt kicked by this sheep level. I can't figure out a way to make a machine that can climb up ledges, and the flying machine mechanics are a total mystery.
that level was probably the hardest level to deal with

This is how I dealt with it. I didn't put any weapons on it so I just roll over the sheep.
How can you guys fail at the sheep level? It's piss easy. I just made a cube made of bombs and flaming balls and blew it up.

I made similar version of that loading system, and incorporated it into one of my catapults - it worked amazingly, borderline flawless once I'd ironed out the problems. The lack of shadows is fucking me up, I can't tell how close or far it is from the floor, at first I honestly thought it was floating.

On the sheep level I just made a car with a bunch of flamethrowers and lit all the sheep on fire
All these trebuchets inspired me to try making one. [t]http://puu.sh/fme3X.jpg[/t] I couldn't manage to get a reloading system that didn't blow up in my face, but I did get this.
Enjoy a slingshot [sp] That goes wrong 50% of the times [/sp] [vid]http://a.pomf.se/odezyw.webm[/vid]
That loading mechanism is pretty nice, but I'm more curious about your firing arm design, seeing how you can still fire it fairly far away while having plenty of weight distributed on it.
While tinkering I made a small discovery that lets it fire even farther away :v Here's the save file if you're still interested in how it works. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/24075839/splatterpult3.bsg (Please don't distribute the link outside this thread) Controls: L - catapult arm NUM1 - spins both magazines backwards (useful to prevent multiple bombs coming out and shit) NUM2 - right magazine NUM3 - left magazine NUM0 - raise the loading ramps (again, useful to prevent overloading or w/e) NUM7/4 - left drive wheels forward/backward NUM9/6 - right drive wheels forward/backward If you want a flatter trajectory, just replace the armour plate on the tip of the throwing arm for a plank - less range, flatter trajectory.

Makes me wonder how much vehicle variety the full campaign is going to demand from you.
One of my biggest fears is that they'll break away from what they have right now. Right now they let you build literally whatever you want with the only restriction being size. No money or resource costs, no "Research this part first!" or anything like that. Its literally just "Make something to do this!" and let you decide how silly or inventive or utilitarian you get. And my fear is that it'll end up being made more of a "game" and taking out the current sandbox approach and adding in restrictions on what you can do and when and how much.
I'm okay with this, since the levels will define your contraption
I'd be OK with part restrictions to add to the challenge of re-playing levels, like having to make a vehicle that does shit without using wheels, or a crane that doesn't use grabbers - they should be completely optional though.
yeah, part restrictions would be great so some levels don't become TOO easy, but the amount of freedom you get right now is definitely a selling point on its own Why build something to throw explosives at a castle when you can make a kamikaze plane?

I've created a monster [vid]http://a.pomf.se/bzsnnj.webm[/vid]
