Put some wheels on it, I believe it should stop it from spazzing all over the place :v:
I hope they add a possibility to make tracks for tanks and stuff. I tried create some out of hinges but they just break and fuck up.

Try to stretch the track out a bit with a piston on each side. (
or, y'know, add wheels in the middle, just like on real tanks
or, y'know, add wheels in the middle, just like on real tanks
Trying that again. Did that before but it felt a bit weird. Experimenting with using wood between each hinges.

I made them a bit longer instead of using pistons. I will probably find some way. Would be great if I could use the steelarmor as bands.
EDIT: fuck it I give up. It breaks at the edges. It will probably be easier in a few updates.

I realise the FPS is shite, I forgot to change settings from my last recording before doing this one and CBA to redo it all.
I tried to make a helicopter made out of cannons but it didn't work
Haven't really played around with a track design yet myself, but I noticed in the clip that these four hinges are attached to the side of another hinge, not the top like I'm thinking they should be.

How else could he do it?
For those that are somewhat bored with the current limitations, consider using the cheat option to make your machine indestructible. I got tired of my steering joints snapping off and since there's no way to brace them without making them immobile, I was stumped. So I made decided to heck with it and make a bot out of adamantium.

EDIT: Someone added the proper sound track to it.
Double edit: Can't get the youtube version to work

I feel like half the fun of this game is watching these devices fail catastrophically and seeing just how long it takes to get to that point.
So one thing that I just can't figure out is how to change the direction of objects before you attach them. For example if you wanted a cannon to face the opposite of the default direction, how to you place it pointing the other way?

press R
I tried to make a giant trebuchet but the hinge/axle joints weren't strong enough to hold the counter weight, so I ended up using several springs instead.
I have created possibly the most unreliable launcher in the world.

One thing I did that I haven't really seen anyone else do is brace the arm of the launcher in a way that keeps the natural flexibility of the wood. You can see in the second launch how powerful that force can be, it just sucks because of how unreliable it is. I wanna see if I can make a launcher based solely on the flexibility of wood next.
Magnificent, but too much energy is being wasted on the arm itself you can see it go all wavy, not sure if you use 1x1 blocks or 1x2, but what you can do is replace all the blocks along the path with a single metal strut, that way all the energy will not be wasted and the range should increase tenfold. I think we should get longer blocks in some update, a 1x4 for example.

Actually my analysis shows that the main reason for the inconsistency of shots is caused by the counterweight. If it hits the ground, you get a very low power shot, while if the counterweight manages to keep above ground you get extreme power. If i was able to get joints to work it would most likely always fire like the second shot.
You see originally this design also had a sling, but it made it even less reliable. I took it out and used the flex of the wood to replace the sling, and it seems to do a pretty good job of adding that flinging motion.
I agree longer blocks would be nice but what I really want is a rope type block. Like a strut but non-rigid, it keeps the set distance but not the set positions. Oh and toggle feature for every block, I've been wanting that since day 1.
I wonder if a catapult which solely uses flexibility is possible, I guess I'll put this to the test.

Actually, tracks are quite possible with the current version, however, to make successful tank treads you will need a couple things.
More rollers
Suspension to keep the tracks under tension
The tracks must cannot be built on the tank. You won't get enough tension (which is key). They have to be put on similar to an actual tank.
Has anyone built a plane with only forward placing propellers and wings alone providing lift? I can't find any way to get a plane of the ground when doing it this way.
Also, you need unbreakable on

Yes but you really need the lightest weight frame possible and wheels to help you get up to speed

For a more forgiving strut whose angle can change, use the contractable spring. You can choose its springiness with the parameter tuner.
