Using the boulder in the chaos engine just gives you WAAAY too much torque :v:
Here's the file for the vehicle: http://puu.sh/fFG7Z.bsg
Fireball variant, of course. Arrow keys to control.
where you get your music for these videos from?
Just random shit from my collection of videogame music and stuff alike. I have a folder of ~2800 videogame music pieces :v:
Videos on this page are using the EDGE soundtrack and stuff from Zeta Force
So I'm currently working on a 2 player rock-em sock-em robots game, here's what I have so far:

i made a chaos vehicle that works without invincible..it's neat
The changelog for V0.03 by the way:

"Made undo button colliders larger"
What?
Alright, so is there a chaos engine building guide? Because I just tried to make a CE-powered aircraft and it kept falling apart - the forces were to great for the thing attaching the propellor shaft to the fireball core.
Made some improvements.
It can now reverse and it has a wicked suspension system.
However, the reversing is not really what I want it to be (not chaos powered)

it's mostly the camera shaking

except, reverse the sawblade direction using the f key, for each sawblade

The camera was actually shaking because I had middle clicked on the fireball, locking the view to it :v:

What do you use for motion blur in post? It looks really nice.

i made a quadruped. it walks pretty well, can't turn though
also those unpowered wooden wheels make great feet
What do you use for motion blur in post? It looks really nice.
I simply record in 5% speed, then I speed it up 20 times in post and use the extra frames for motionblur.
Here's the exact steps for 30fps video and 5% slowdown.
1 - Import to after effects
2 - Put the clip into the timeline
3 - Right click on it and time stretch to 5 (out of 100)
4 - Drag the tallest yellow thing down so that it matches the new length.
5 - Apply "CC Force Motion Blur" effect, set subdivs to 20 and shutter angle to 360.
6 - Export.

let's see how far I'll get
And through further research, I've figured that there are multiple benefits of just using two chaos engines over one.
I can reverse effortlessly and they counter-rotate and nullify each others torque.

My next goal is to somehow make a gearbox for a single-engined vehicle instead of using two.
gears are fun

How are hot air balloons not a thing in this game yet?

Sounds like an idea for the devs.

Trying to focus the power of four chaos engines into one propeller
My next goal is to somehow make a gearbox for a single-engined vehicle instead of using two.
You need a gear that splits into two paths, one with an odd number of gears, one even
you can use pistons with suspension set to the same key to push a gear to the right height
[vid]http://foxcock.me/web/images/Besiege%2002.09.2015%20-%2003.43.40.12.webm[/vid]
the concept is clear, and can be further optimized
[editline]9th February 2015[/editline]
it works better at normal speeds, the chaos is too chaotic
Is this how everyone makes stuff now then, using Chaos Engines?
stacked sawblades offer such fantastic speed, so yes
they're too difficult to actually use in serious campaign-winning mobility, but they're an endlessly fascinating engineering experiment
Is this how everyone makes stuff now then, using Chaos Engines?
It has followed a similar line of development as most real world things. When it was new no one really had any idea how to do things so we saw all sorts of whacky stuff. Now that people have established some of the better ways to do things that's what most people are going with. A real life comparison would be firearms. In the early days you saw stuff like the duck's foot pistol and brass knuckle pistols. These days most people have hopped on board the striker fired, polymer frame wagon.
What if there was an option on things like Pistons to start expanded and the button would retract them?
Choosing piston starting state (for toggle-mode pistons), and especially expansion length, would be useful.
[editline]9th February 2015[/editline]
all of these key-bound things would be nice to have a toggle option for
also starting hinges at other angles so you can actually build proper folding stuff
I can't use the numpad for binding, num lock on or off. Would be great to have that working.
Sounds like an idea for the devs.
cough cough, hint hint
I'd like being able to spawn friendly soldiers on machines. Then I could crash through a door or wall and have troops pour out
yo people with cogs and chaos engines, how do you transfer the energy by cogs? I mean don't they spin freely on their axis?
I can't use the numpad for binding, num lock on or off. Would be great to have that working.
It works for me.
I think this is the quickest I've ever been sold on a game by a Facepunch thread. Barely any time in and I'm having an absolute blast with this.
