yo people with cogs and chaos engines, how do you transfer the energy by cogs? I mean don't they spin freely on their axis?
My problem is that even with a weak 2 blade chaos engine the cogs just bounce around and barely get 10% of the energy across.
After extensive testing I found that tracks are not a very viable way to move vehicles with. Nevertheless I was surprised by how well it worked anyway.

So after seeing the post about SotC monster I got inspired to make my own version of something similar:

It's actually really stable, a bit slow to turn but it's pretty easy to control

Ran some more tests, flaming ball still not necessary

Built right they actually work very well. The biggest issue is the lag.

You almost always need to lower simulation speed to make the game run smoothly.

Man out of all the SotC inspired flying machines, mine's the worst.
God fucking damn it.
Yours looks like the most amazing one i've seen so far by the way.
Holy shit, best 7 euros i've spend in quite a while, been trying to make a trebuchet for half a day now :v:

Nothing super impressive compared to the other stuff on here though.
But hell is it a lot of fun

Made a quick little video, sorry if the quality is strange, just quickly used afterburner for screencapping since Ihave nothing else :v:

I like yours more. It's harder to control, but looks far better and the form looks amazing to twist.
The best one was that super thin air snake from /v/, though, in terms of size and control. Yours still has the best appearance.

Anything heavy should do the trick. Flaming balls produced the most striking image, but the other spheres (spike balls, bombs, new boulder as well I presume) work just fine as well and take up less space than weighted blocks for example. Someone said living people also have a ton of weight, but I guess they're probably too fiddly to be experimented with extensively.

made another walker, this one is pretty tough and good at trampling people, also can turn
Shitty OBS upload because I couldn't be bothered to webm

Seems to have too much torque regardless of how large you make the body.

How you know a thread is going places.
human experimentation! :v:
Use grabbers to snatch them up and attach them to a grabber on the saws?
We need to be able to use grabbers to grab the ground
Use grabbers to snatch them up and attach them to a grabber on the saws?
they probably die

Added a chaos engine to the base that spins in the opposite direction to counter the torque.
Has anyone tried editing .bsg files to combine parts in ways that are normally impossible? (like blockmixing in Trackmania)
edit: apparently it's been done, and you can get access to some WIP blocks with it, such as chains and muscles (IDs 4, 8, 13)
Muscles? Can't wait to build hulking all-consuming flesh monstrosities then.
[editline]10th February 2015[/editline]
I mean, assuming they're like fleshy muscles. I don't know what purpose muscles would serve, since we already have springs.
fun with save editing

Some guy's been attaching living people to his flying machines and he claims their flailing is somehow keeping them stable like a gyroscope.
Piloted flights here we come
So I just found out that those wing panels, given enough spin, can act as deadly as hell projectiles that never lose either speed or altitude.
I've experimented with a chaos engine shuriken launcher but I can't get it to be both controlled and deadly, since the chaos engine loses its stability once it fires the first shuriken and cuts everything up.
Also what is the best way to boost lifting power from the engines? I'm trying to build a chaos powered VTOL but I just can't get it up.
It has followed a similar line of development as most real world things. When it was new no one really had any idea how to do things so we saw all sorts of whacky stuff. Now that people have established some of the better ways to do things that's what most people are going with. A real life comparison would be firearms. In the early days you saw stuff like the duck's foot pistol and brass knuckle pistols. These days most people have hopped on board the striker fired, polymer frame wagon.
Evolution before our eyes. I rejected the chaos engine before but now I must embrace it :v:
Experimenting with better wheels for terrain and some helicopter bullshit that isn't working just yet.

I hope they add balloon block some day so that flying machines can get some better weight management.
I just want to make a giant wooden blimp

In one of the videos someone tried to make an airship that exploded almost immediately after take off. Want to make one that actually works. Then just rig it up with innumerable weapons and rain hell.

Someone's so gonna build a balloon machine with a grabber for abducting farmers while the soundtrack for Up plays in the background.

made this, default controls for the pieces (V, L)

Playing around with the Boulders and Half Pipes. Had to run at 50% speed due to horrible frame rate.
