i am currently making progress on construction of a medieval UFO...
It annoys me that, that little section of archers stays alive
I swear they stay alive most of the time.
I wish the tutorial had warned me about rebindable blocks. To make anything steer, I had to build it in two huge sections. [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/D6R3qy.jpg[/t]

Why is it that sometimes components just fail to work? It's really frustrating. [editline]14th February 2015[/editline]
Some guy made this. Holy shit thats awesome!

I'm loving these 'propel the starting block to victory' videos. This thread just gets better.
We've transcended machinery. Victory is merely mind-propelled neon blocks

I wonder if it would be possible to make a texture pack or skin models for this game.
I wonder if it would be possible to make a texture pack or skin models for this game.
Sadly no, it's being developed on unity, the only way you could do it is if the developer would expose the files directly, but unfortunately unity is not doing this by default and that stuff requires plenty of additional work.
I'd love to see official modding support for besiege.
I'd love to see official modding support for besiege.
And workshop support would be nice too.
That's one of Unity's greatest failings, it's awful at supporting mods out of the box. It's so much extra work to add that in.
I've heard from a lot of people that Workshop support is coming, but I don't think it's gonna be traditional mods or even custom parts, just a place for easily sharing machines/.bsg files.
is there a decent tutorial for this anywhere? I cant even figure out how to use steering hinges let alone make a catapult.
is there a decent tutorial for this anywhere? I cant even figure out how to use steering hinges let alone make a catapult.
There's a wrench tool, use it for rebinding keys, that is all
If this game ever gets a multiplayer its going to be fucking INSANE!
I've heard from a lot of people that Workshop support is coming, but I don't think it's gonna be traditional mods or even custom parts, just a place for easily sharing machines/.bsg files.
I just hope that we at least get a level editor so people can share custom levels/campaign islands via workshop.
is there a decent tutorial for this anywhere? I cant even figure out how to use steering hinges let alone make a catapult.
Here is how to make a simple, but fully functional car with just some wood and wheels, no steering blocks or steering hinges required. Steering hinges for turning a car are relatively easy to implement, but don't allow you to drive your car like in a racing game. To construct: Only apply them to the front wheels and connect your other wheels with wood blocks. By default the hinges should be facing the right direction, but you can rotate them with R or flip them with F if they don't work how you expect. To use: Hinges don't have a rotation limit, so if you keep holding Right, they'll eventually warp through your own car and destroy it. Hinges also don't reset their position, so if you just tap Left or Right and then keep pressing Up, your car will keep going in a certain curve unless you straighten it yourself. So driving with steering hinges means using Left & Right sparingly to adjust how tight a curve your car should be taking, then straightening it manually by using the opposite arrow key. Steering blocks will make your vehicle behave like in a normal driving game, but their handling isn't as tight as using the four-wheel method or steering hinges. To use, slap them between your machine and flip all of them by pressing F when hovering over them. For a simple catapult, just build up a few blocks and put a normal hinge on top. Build a long beam of wood across so it looks like a seesaw. On one end, build a Holder and put a sphere into it; on the other, connect a Contractible Spring from the base of your vehicle to the free end of the seesaw beam. Once you set your vehicle in motion, the heavy weight should tilt the seesaw into the typical catapult position and pulling your Spring will lift the weight.
I've been making a reloadable (that part is a WIP, but the actual slingshot can be cocked already pretty easily) long range artillery kind of thing in this game. Here are the results :v: Trying to make a reloading mechanism, I'm choosing between semi automatic reloading (very heavy and takes a lot of space, but simple) and robo-arm reloading (less heavy, more projectile capacity but difficult to control the arm) Edit:
Currently trying to find out how to make gears spin at different speeds when powered from a single source, pretty fun stuff actually.
Wouldn't that require multiple sized gears?
[vid]http://zippy.gfycat.com/ImperfectTestyArachnid.webm[/vid] All gears are spinning the same direction, so where does the counter-rotation come from?
