What the guy below me said, and if the middle two gears were fixed on their axii (the gears in besiege can spin freely on one side), the wheel chassis would rotate instead, but since it stays on the ground, counter torque would be diminished.
*video*
All gears are spinning the same direction, so where does the counter-rotation come from?
It's physics: "To every action there is always opposed an equal reaction: or the mutual actions of two bodies upon each other are always equal, and directed to contrary parts."
What's the best way to attach that to make sure it doesn't do that then, since other people seem to manage it?
Wouldn't that require multiple sized gears?
Well this is my makeshift version that uses a half-block space between the gears to make one of the propellers slower.

I made a car that has no powered blocks on it whatsoever.

Has anyone made a single machine that can accomplish every task in the main missions?

The fuck? I assumed cannons immediately destroy bombs :v:
Depends on what qualifies as "single machine" when it comes to how much shit you can add or remove. I used the same wheel base for almost every mission, just adding trebuchets, cannon mounts, blades, explosives, and grabbers to it.
I have one that does all but the pickup missions

I just mean any machine that's built once and never added to again. Like, making a machine with every required tool for each mission, saving it, and just using that for all missions without modifying it in any way after the initial design.
I just remembered, there's supposed to be a moon level (but it's locked). That's gonna be wild.
I just managed to beat every level with this simple thing.
[t]http://puu.sh/fXVNx.jpg[/t]
Took me several tries on a few of them, especially the last. :v:
Really, though, it was surprisingly easy for the pickup levels. Blast the top rock of ore, push the other one over, then just blast the lumber pile closest to the point and pray it flies up. :v:

someone pulled that off a few pages back

I just tested it out. You have to offset a bomb by a half-block in both directions to place the bomb right at the end of the cannon. If you fire it that way, it will push the bomb gently enough to launch it rather than make it go boom.
I wish bombs were a little less sensitive while they were inside the contraption. I've been trying to build a reloadable catapult but 9 times out of 10 it blows up because the sling moves just a wee bit too fast or the loading chute bumps the bombs just a little bit too high.

nah, you can just place a bomb @ on a grabber V , sitting on a wood block [ ] like this
@
V
[ ][ ] )-|
with a steering hinge )-| on the rear end. place a cannon on that hinge, rotate the hinge, and the muzzle will press up against the bomb. bind the cannon and the grabber to the same key and you're done

Oh man, I hope that water is added to this one day. Making boats would be fun as shit
[editline]16th February 2015[/editline]
Or if there was buckets of dynamic water, similar to the hot oil traps, that could wash your vehicle away
i hope the community doesn't out-hype what the developers are capable of
i hope the community doesn't out-hype what the developers are capable of
the devs would have to try really to hard screw up
just add more block types and more scenarios and don't break the game in the process
boats could be great, but i don't think that's a focus
i'd rather the planned moon levels

Did you try putting suspension or an extra section of damping strings on to absorb some of the shakes and soften the acceleration?

I wonder who we'll be fighting on the moon. Medievalish space creatures, aliens, or astronauts... or knights with bubble helmets.

Yeah, both. Lemme get a picture of it.

(It exploded as soon as I tried sliding the grabber back.) As you can probably see, I have the one arm behind the loading area that pulls the grabber right back, and two arms off to the side that help to pull it more to the middle of the chute; they were an attempt at slowing down the rocket speed at which the first retracting spring would pull the grabber back. I thought the addition of a mediator would slow it down and prevent the explosions... but no. Even a gentle nudge is enough to set them all off.

I made a flying... thing.
[img_thumb]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/76413808/Besiege_02_16_2015_12_05_33.png[/img_thumb]
I managed to do all the missions in it, though some are harder than others. It can carpet-bomb an area, making destroying stuff super easy, but picking stuff up requires some fine piloting skills... and time dilation. It's also generally hard to fly because I'm not that good at flying machines.

Controls:
Num 7 - tilt left, Num 8 - tilt forward, Num 9 - tilt right.
Num 4 - pan right, Num 6 - pan left
Num 2 - tilt backward
Num 0 - fly up
1-2-3-v - drop bombs
c - cannons
y - flamethrowers

I heard somewhere they want to add new blocks every couple weeks and new levels every couple months, which sounds very reasonable to me. Couldn't track down a source though.

That sounds like a botched version of their actual update schedule, which is available in their forum.

Some guy on reddit made this really simple and ingenious reloading mechanism:
