Now all it needs are missiles under its wings.
Squeegy stop being so awesome you make us all look awful in comparison
steering hinges pressing up against things, like other hinges, magically summons physical force by the power of buggy physics engine [editline]4th March 2015[/editline] basically the angle of the steering hinge is deemed absolute as long as it is within the rotation limit, and will force anything at all to move away from it, so in this case it looks like it presses against the suspension it is attached to (which means both objects are supposed to move away from each other, but the engine tells only one to move and doesn't consider any counter forces)
Actually, in that engine the steering hinges don't press up against anything, they're just pointed in a direction. When you pump the pistons, some phantom force appears out of nowhere and pushes the hinges, which turns the block. Do this enough and through buggy physics it becomes self-sustaining. (Although you can build a similar version of this that does use the "hinges-press-stuff-method" which generates a considerable amount more torque, at the expense that if you don't have anything using that torque it blows up easier. Or if you have too much using the torque, it blows up easier.) [editline]6th March 2015[/editline]
I made a helicopter that flies like a real helicopter. It's disappointingly spazz-less.
I tried doing this with the same kind of center axle, but when I tried to rotate the blades around it rotated the body around, and kept the blades pointing upwards instead. _/:v:\_
You can do rotating block -> unpowered rotating block -> rotating block and put braces on the unpowered one for better stability.

An accurate representation of reality.

I have made a little video about a perpetuum mobile generator thing. Here's another one (not by me)

I can't be the only one seeing the swastika in this
Everything's a swastika if you try hard enough.
I can't be the only one seeing the swastika in this
Yes I'm certain there is a hidden one.
I can't be the only one seeing the swastika in this
Besiege is a swastika simulator so it's probably not just you.

It looks awesome, and I'd love to get my hands on it :v:
http://puu.sh/gsU6B/725333b75d.zip I made a few improvements for you Swapped out the wooden fenders that kept the tracks on because they made a horrific noise and a cloud of dust when they collided with the hinges Now it has some ballasts "remotely" braced to the chassis which do the job just fine, however it will throw a track if you really abuse it Explosions will also throw the tracks off quite often Armour plates on the hinges are optional, just thought it looked a bit better Make sure you hit H after spawning it to extend the pistons that take up the slack in the tracks Controls take a bit of getting used to, 7-4 for the left track and 8-5 for the right, so you can perform neutral steer by holding 8 and 4 or 7 and 5, or simply let off power from one track to turn more gently while moving Unfortunately it will only work with invincibility turned on, without which it snaps both tracks immediately If you turn the power on the wheels way down it might work with damage on but probably not for long

This just became my favourite contraption [editline]a[/editline] Almost managed to brute-force through the 'Perimeter Wall' level, until the chassis got shot up so much that a beam got wedged in the left track and I was unable to turn enough to get the last building :( [t]http://i.imgur.com/tSqk0gn.png[/t] [editline]a[/editline] Bulldozer blades fix everything >:) [t]http://i.imgur.com/a06gktL.png[/t] [sp]kinda...[/sp]
There was a quick official v0.05 post just now talking about having added a few blocks and planning on skipping the next minor update to focus on the next big update (which will bring 4 new levels and new enemies) and infrastructural changes like upgrading to Unity 5 for a nice performance boost, Workshop support, and achievements to cater to various skill levels. Had some typos in it, maybe someone accidentally published it.

They deleted the news post shortly after, couple people are still confused as to why. The actual v0.05 update wasn't published, so I'd expect the news post to reappear once the update's actually ready to be shipped. You can get news popups automatically (or look at them in your Steam Activity feed) if you Follow a game on its store page.
Yeah, probably was still being finished and someone accidentally posted it since the update hasn't come out yet it wasn't proofread.
Any idea when new worlds are being done?
Any idea when new worlds are being done?
The scrapped announcement said the next big update's gonna hit in about 4 weeks and will bring 4 new levels, as well as new enemies. They're gonna skip the scheduled small update between then and now tho.
but does four levels mean four more maps that look like they couldn't possibly take more than ten minutes to produce, or four worlds full of maps?
but does four levels mean four more maps that look like they couldn't possibly take more than ten minutes to produce, or four worlds full of maps?
Probably just four more levels exploring some possibly new concepts and seeing how the community likes the ideas.
but does four levels mean four more maps that look like they couldn't possibly take more than ten minutes to produce, or four worlds full of maps?
I think they just meant 4 more maps, not 4 more continents. I wouldn't pass judgment so quickly on what they contain. They said there's gonna be new enemies, which in itself could mean any amount of work depending on how smart the AI is, it could feature new art assets, and if the currently available levels are anything to go by, they'll have to be competent at introducing new blocks/challenges/gameplay elements while also increasing the general complexity of the game. They may also have been designed in such a way that you can go for certain future achievements (that they also mentioned in the announcement), like keeping all 10 sheep alive while destroying a castle or something, which in itself has to be playtested as well. We don't know anything about these levels. Could just be the first level copypasted 4 times. Could be anything. Oh yeah and someone found the scrapped announcement:
Hey guys! So today we’re bringing you V0.05 as well as information about the next major update, which will be V0.1, and some long term improvements to Besiege. V0.1 We’re going to be changing things up over the next few weeks to push through content that there is a growing demand for. We will be skipping the next minor update in order to bring you the first major update faster. This major update will be V0.1 and will mainly focus on new levels. We do have some other features we’re hoping to get in alongside the new levels but we don’t want to talk about that just yet in case they don’t make the final cut. V0.1 will introduce you to a new Island that has 4 new levels to start with. We expect that it will be ready in 4 weeks time. V0.01 will introduce a new island to Besiege with new sceneary, structures and inhabbited by new enemies. The new island will start out with 4 levels, more will be added as time goes on, and offer new challenges to the player Unity 5 & Steam Integration As I’m sure most of you are aware, Besiege was created on the Unity engine. Probably less of you aware that there is a newer version of this engine called Unity 5. Unity 5 offers a number of improvements over 4, the one we’re most interested in is performance. We estimate that moving Besiege over to Unity 5 could offer us a performance gain of at least double. This would allow people to build much larger machines and potentially allow us to create levels with more assets. Unfortunately there is an issue that is preventing us from moving to the new engine, Unity is aware of this issue and hopefully it is something they can fix in the near future. We’re also looking at Steam integration, there are a number of Steam features that we feel will compliment Besiege. The sharing of machines between players has become almost as much a part of Besiege as building something yourself, we want to find ways to better support this, naturally Steam Workshop comes to mind. We’ve also had a lot of requests for greater challenges in the game. Everyone’s skill level is different so we don’t want to make the game too difficult for our more casual players, but we need to provide tougher goals for those that want them. This is why we’re looking at Steam Achievements, they would give players who crave a challenge a much harder goal to strive for and of course give them bragging rights to their Steam friends. We will also be looking at Steam Trading Cards in the future but for now our focus is on game content. V0.05 For this up date we’re bringing you a few new blocks as well as improvements and bug fixes. The update isn’t as full as previous updates, this is because we’ve been trying to focus more on level design
Game already performs pretty well. Nice that they're continuing to improve on that. [editline]9th March 2015[/editline] Seems there's an update, but it's not downloading for me.
Mine updated (and completed), but it says 0 byes/0 bytes [editline]9th March 2015[/editline] in-game it still says its v0.04 and theres no new continents or new levels in Ipsilon. No new blocks either.
