VRChat Thread v1 - "How do you make custom avatar?"

My trackstraps were supposed to arrive yesterday.
Supposed to.
Grr.
I imagine you import the different cosmetics and the main character at the same time in blender, then link the bones to the matching ones on the cosmetic, and then maybe merge them to make one mesh.
Not sure if Merging them skips the bone matching part.
Yup, though I didn't actually merge them, I just made sure the proper bones were parented before exporting.
I had to delete all jigglebones though 'cuz they refused to import properly. If I ever plan to use them, I'll have to remake them from scratch myself.

Also added a thing where I can carry the dragon plush in my hand.
This has quickly become my get-drunk-on-friday-night-and-play-vr-game.
Here's a picture of me hiding behind a tree from 3 pokemon dragons that chased me for about 20 minutes. (and failing)

For everyone who's using VR, I'm currently making a little prefab animation pack, so that you don't have to have claw hands when you make a custom animation. Will post it when it's done.

Nice. I'm sure the thread would be interested in checking out what you got as you go along!
I like the Knuckles, but I want really a Rick and Morty Avatar, that would be awesome!

Well, you're in luck. There's four of them in Al's Avatar Corridors.

I regret selling my Razer Hydra about 2 years ago. :v:
Could have used those now instead when I don't own a headset.
Ported a small Megumin.

Would need to remake whole facial rig though.
I like VRC, it is very nice

Man I just love sessions where you're stuck in the same world for like an hour just chatting shit, it's so nice.

So in the last couple of days I started a 'Loli Gang', where we run and jump at Onii-chans, asking for their attention and if we don't get it we shoot them down like dogs

Also made a tiny 'french alphonse' model with a floppy bagguette

All the girls [sp]and dudes[/sp] love the baguette and ask to be force-fed, which goes NSFW very fast.

Started in a giant snake's mouth, eventually led to an anus, but you couldn't go further than that.

The walls pulsate rhythmically and make squelching sounds
I went from void club to void club last night, with some other adventures mixed in. Towards the end of the night (and nearly half a bottle of vodka later) these guys kept saying...something about my dancing, I can't quite remember. But I do remember interpreting it as "YOU MUST DANCE HARDER" and so I did. I think someone challenged me to a dance off and lost, even, and I didn't stop before or after it happened.
And then I knocked my open drink over and the fun died instantly. Thank fuck there wasn't much left in it.

If you could somehow get the Joycons from the Switch to work on your PC, and by extension, VRChat. Can easily see them being used as motion controllers for those without VR.
[editline] derp [/editline]
I should rephrase myself. I know they're bluetooth devices and can be connected to your PC, but they're not completely untapped yet for their potential on the platform. And it's quite unrealistic to expect a PC game to show support for something unofficial. It's just wishful thinking lol.
The Razer Hydra reminds me a lot of it though. Although that device uses a different method of tracking.

I spent 4 hours just making (and physically losing) friends in the large desert maze the other night. There was a very memorable john wick and a godzilla, some dude that sounded like dunkey having a panic attack at a 4-way intersection like the fifth time we returned to it, and a handful of knuckles who I'm proud to report that despite the attempted party leaders' uses of the terms "I think it's this way" "we should go that way next" etc, they didn't ONCE melt down into a frenzy of YOU DO NOT KNOW DE WAE
also that maze allegedly takes people 2 hours on average but I kept coming across new groups and just following them about as metal gear rex. There's some BS maze design going on with that place though

Joycons are native bluetooth devices and will connect to PC. There's a PCGN article about going about this. They won't give you any sort of positional data which is kind of the whole point of vr controls, and the tilt/motion sensors are something I'm not even sure you can access without nintendo putting out a PC driver of their own, let alone the game knowing how to interpret them.
tbh you MIGHT have better luck with some sort of homebrew wiimote setup since those were developed a ton by nerds over the years

Oh I'm well aware about all of this. For starters Nintendo would never allow some kind of PC support, much less VRChat showing any kind of will to research compatibility for something unofficial in the first place. It's just merely wishful thinking lol.

I've seen some unique use of the joycons so far at least, most notable being used for photoshop control shotrcuts.

I used mine to play Sunless Sea on my TV.
Does anyone have like an example avatar with working gesture overrides with sound that they could send me? I ask because I've tried following tutorials on how to get sound working but it just doesn't work. I really need to see with my own eyes what a working one looks like so I can emulate it.
Pm me or add me on Steam. I had trouble with the sound as well but I have one with working sound, though it has some oddities. It's a Ben Swolo skin with force lightning on an override and lightsaber activation on override. The lightning sound totally works but the saber sound doesn't, I'll send it to you if you'd like.

https://github.com/mfosse/JoyCon-Driver this driver exposes gyro and accelerometer data. I'm not sure how difficult it would be to spoof them as VR input for steamVR but you wouldn't have to modify anything in VRChat. I think it's a bit more than wishful thinking, definitely possible but some work is required.
You could try FreePIE with the Hydra driver and write a script to map all the inputs around.
Last night was something different, met a guy with the most soothing voice, he took us around worlds that I've honestly not seen before, and they were all mostly art & exhibition worlds that had a very nice atmosphere, one had a lot of insightful quotes and calming ambience, the other was a house on top a hill with a vista and very moody atmosphere, I wouldn't mind spending like hours in that lounge area cause it's very comfortable.
Surprised there's already hidden gems.

Sounds like you stumbled upon the event "Virtual Reality Art Gallery: LEVITATE" that happened around 4 hours ago. I do recommend visiting events as they are pretty chill.

Nah this was no event, he was just showing off worlds. Haven't actually gone to any of the scheduled events, but they seem like a good time if it wasn't scheduled at like 3am my time.

My dreams is to go to those scheduled events. Weird time zones sucks

With those numbers i'm fairly sure we can talk bout "outside the observable universe"
Your model might be God outside of time and space.
