Any of the avatar makers in here got a list of things to learn to help make my own/edit my own avatars? Found some stuff I wanna tweak to make my own but I have no clue where to start with all the billions of tutorials out there.

I just got Oculus Rift so getting into the scene. I saw a game a while ago where it looks like CSGO but I think you could throw weapons at people once out of ammo or something. Also what's the game where you sit at table and other players sit opposite to you in circle, you need to reload gun quickly and shoot others? Any other fun stuff to try?

I think you're in the wrong thread, as this is the thread of "VRChat". Now, about the games you're asking, I think you're talking about Pavlov VR, tho I would also recommend you taking a look at Onward and H3VR (Hot dogs, horseshoes and Hand grenades). And, about the quickly reloading one, I think that was Hand Simulator, dunno if it is VR Compatible tho.

What dictates at which height your nametag appears? I thought it was the mesh but I have a character with a rather tall hat and the nametag clips through it. Any way to set it higher? I'm pretty sure I've seen tiny loli avatars with nametags at a lower height than everyone else. Is it the viewpoint height?

The nametag is always placed 0.5m above the view position defined in your avatar descriptor. You won't be able to move the nametag up with out moving your viewpoint up higher. https://i.imgur.com/vdELYOY.jpg I swear people like this make me feel guilty for just downloading ready avatars to compensate my lack of skill I've just been invading the great pug over and over again as an Arctic Avenger from CS1.6, planting bombs and taking hostages. It gets a tad boring after a while when only 3 people have a headset and even they are talking to each other ignoring/blocking everyone else in the room.

I'm pretty sure I saw exactly this dude literally the night I finished porting my own Doomslayer avatar, with absolutely no special animations or anything, and while I have it on this guy comes up behind me and starts riffing on his guitar and blasting music. Makes me feel lazy as fuck, need to work on a more high level avatar next, with some items or something at least.

I know that feel too well, I'm half-proud of getting a model uploaded to my own account that is made by someone else but it has features that work and that makes me happy. And as soon as I'm making gags with the features, someone comes with like 160 models he made himself entirely, shaders and all. Kinda demoralizes me for being inept at computers. And I've tried looking at tutorials on how to make things yourself, but every time I've managed to balls it up somehow and I just bin it before looking online for ready avatars.

I'm having an issue that just cropped up last night, I can upload an avatar and it goes through just fine but it doesn't show up ingame or when I go to manage uploads. Not sure what could have happened.

in the vrchat discord they said something about problem with avatar/world uploading and they're going to look into it. for now try to detach the ID and reupload it again.

Damn. Right audio on the Rift died out on me. It's not a problem in the headphones themselves since when I swap them they work fine, it's something inside the headset or a software issue. Seems like a common issue, too.
