What with the tagline "That day our sky fell, the heavens split to create new skies" I'm suspecting that strangereal is a complete alternate universe, and an incident has combined the 2 worlds in some way. That seems like it would solve most of the questions we have right now.

I'm really depressed this is F2P. Assault Horizon had a ton of pay 2 win items in it and no one cared cause it was a crap game. If Namco does the same thing here its going to ruin it.

I wonder how the f2p will work. I hope it isn't like we get 3 shitty jets and have to purchase the rest of them for like $200+.

From what I can tell it’s a “singleplayer” campaign that you play through as a coop game. Can’t say I find the coop aspect too appealing but the gameplay looks fine and that’s what really mattered to me. The story is as we speculated. They’re adapting the Strangereal history into the real world. I can’t get hyped about this like I was before knowing I can’t play this without dropping $250, but I’m glad to see Ace Combat returning to form.

As much as I've been bashing on the new game for being lazy by banking so hard on nostalgia, I'd be lying so hard if I said I don't want to see/hear old stuff. I bet if they were start remaking Zero (it's only a matter of time at this rate) I'd be losing my shit over how awesome a current gen recreation of the final fight would be.

I think it kinda fits with what's happening right now figuratively at least: It will most likely be the last AC game for PS3 / this generation. It's using nostalgia to show how far Ace Combat has gone. It should set us up for a new storyline in the new generation of consoles. That sounded cheesier than I thought.

It's time to replay the AC series it seems, I am 'hyped' for this. It's a quiet hype seeing as my friends never played them but if it gives me that feeling when I was a kid putting that Air Combat disc into my PS1 and the same with the rest, I will cry man tears.

I saw beta footage on youtube and it looks amazing to me. But then again I liked Assault Horizon so I guess I'm easily impressed by this series. :v:

If you actually liked Assault Horizon you're going to cream your pants when you play a real AC game.

Open Beta is out in NA and EU. A bit hard to find in the shop though, since you can't search for it. Go to the arcade category and it should be one of the first. Only up till the 11th though
