All the little details they took out of GTA V for no reason shits me. Shooting NPCs doesn't feel anywhere near as good as they did in IV, it sucks.
It was a pretty big disappointment playing Max Payne 3 before the release of GTA V. I was hoping that GTA V gun play would feel close to what MP3 had, but instead we got some awful gun play where everything sounds/feels like garbage to shoot.
All the little details they took out of GTA V for no reason shits me.
I'd wager they did it in order to optimize the game for Online play, seeing as how because of Shark Cards it has a vastly higher priority.
Shark cards are not the roots of all evil (although it is for plenty). They had no idea the MP would blow up like this at release. Back then cards only existed in smaller denominations, and there was apparently a genuine intent to bring multiple SP expansions to the game. This obviously failed to materialize later, as the unexpected success of GTAO became clear in a few months. My point is that during development R* had no idea this is the direction they'd choose. The reason we don't see these little details is because the game had to run decently on last-gen consoles, with improved graphics (eg. with skylighting which is a demanding but very noticeable effect). In order to do that they had to optimize and streamline the game so hard, that less noticeable systems had to be simplified: Euphoria became more rigid, the vehicle damage model is less responsive, and smaller AI subroutines were cut, among other things. And honestly, I understand that. It was amazing how the game looked and ran on seven year old hardware. Of course they could have brought those back for the next-gen release, but I guess the priorities were additions which can be more easily showcased (improved vegetation and wildlife can be a much larger selling point than improved paramedic behavior).
When people blurt out shit like "lol r* hate the players and uh uh....sharkcards!11" it feels like such a weak ass cop-out
Wasn't there a bug in GTA V where animals would somehow call emergency services?
You need to see the code to really appreciate the absurdity (this is the entirety of the witnessinformation.meta file): Before:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <CWitnessInformations> <Personalities> <Item key="Default"> <Flags>CanWitnessCrimes WillCallLawEnforcement</Flags> </Item> <Item key="Player" /> <Item key="Animal" /> </Personalities> </CWitnessInformations>
After:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <CWitnessInformations> <Personalities> <Item key="Default"> <Flags>CanWitnessCrimes WillCallLawEnforcement</Flags> </Item> <Item key="Player"> <Flags /> </Item> <Item key="Animal"> <Flags /> </Item> </Personalities> </CWitnessInformations>
This fix required two years, and was never applied to last-gen versions.

One way or another however, I personally just have more fun with GTA IV. It's just a shame we can't have the upsides of both in one place.
I think GTAV added more detail then what it took away. Sure what they added really isn't gameplay related, but makes the world feel more alive, at least in SP. Sometimes I just wonder around the world in first person without killing (gasp)
Whoever wrote the script that spawns a car that you t-bone at intersections when you go at high speed should be slapped.

For all it's flaws, GTA V has one thing going for it without doubt, the map. Although I'm not sure about 'more detailed'.
rose tinted goggles if i tried going back to IV now i'd probably vomit
Well eventually GTA VI will come, who knows how bad / good it will be.
To be honest I lost faith in R* after GTA V

Maybe it's just something about how they populated the world in GTA V and how the AI acts that makes me not enjoy it as much.
It doesn't help that a large portion of the map is a boring desert or a boring mountain, and all the city is condensed at the bottom.
It doesn't help that a large portion of the map is a boring desert or a boring mountain, and all the city is condensed at the bottom.
To be fair, I prefer having those big open areas with not much going on as well as the city as opposed to one big samey looking place. Also I like just hanging out in the mountains.

In GTA V we have Sandy Shores... I wish the desert were bigger. there's a place with some tiny dunes that are fun as fuck to drive with bikes and offroaders but it's sooo tiny.
Honestly, I don't think I'd even be as disappointed as I am with GTAO if they were actually doing some actual cool additions other than more grinding things. Like if they actually worked on making another city. Sure, it'd suck if a city was exclusive to GTAO, but atleast it's better than CEO work rehashed for the fourth time.

Unfortunately, there's no real sign that they're going to do such a thing now. It'd probably cost them too much and most likely wouldn't provide enough profit for them to be happy. The updates are already slowing down too so we can probably expect to see more rehashing gameplay, random cars/weapons/clothing, and extremely long dripfeeds instead of any meaningful content.
FUCK THE ROCKET BIKES
Yeah I had some friendly fellow attempt a "Sniper Fight" with me by blowing up my car with his Rocket bike then flinging shit at me when I attempted to get into my APC to retaliate, oh but he was on foot and I lost the fight because of spawn kills and him using the Explosive Sniper Rifle, a true display of skill was shown this day, despite me getting a shot off on him and him not dying, then having him proceed to one shot me regardless of Armour because Explosions. [editline]6th July 2017[/editline] On a fun note, did you know the AA Gun can one shot a Rhino with the upgraded gun.
I accidentally killed an innocent guy while trying to kill 4 guys who I didn't like. Basically these 4 guys looked kind of shitty and scary, so I felt like going after them and killing them. My strategy was just placing proximity mines right outside their vehicle warehouse in La Mesa, but it seems like they saw me doing it and refused to leave the warehouse. Some guy was delivering an Osiris, drove it all the way from Blaine County into LS and I failed to warn him about the mines. I wonder how scary and frustrating must have been for him. He pretty much arrived to the vehicle warehouse just to have the car blow up instantly for apparently no reason. I was gonna apologize but he left after like half a second of being killed.
I don't like the look of you so die. Yeah that seems fine really.
FUCK THE ROCKET BIKES
i love paying 20k to avoid omnipresent death
FUCK THE ROCKET BIKES
I have only once seen someone harassing people on the street with the Oppressor, I find it much more enjoyable to try to fly it up the buildings or along Banham Canyon
FUCK THE ROCKET BIKES
I use mine for quickly getting to cargo/gunrunning/cars, and make it a point to leave my missles on non-lockon. Of course some people try to preempt a non-existent threat by shooting me when I crash or drive on the road and then camp my bike.
Are there any glitches where you can get a cageless merryweather mesa? That car looks good without the rollcage, making it look closer to the original car while keeping the beefy aspect.
Are there any glitches where you can get a cageless merryweather mesa? The glitch to do it has long since been patched sadly, it was fixed the same time the topless casco was removed from the game, fucking R*.

I don't understand why they had to remove that.
