Grand Theft Auto Series Megathread V12 - GTA Online: We Have a Hacking Problem

Can you load a dune into a duneloader?
I played GTAO at a frkends house and it was impossible.
I wish we could go back to the days when our only problem were dickheads with chrome adders and stickybombs.
they still haven't fixed the private fare bug
the manager never called me :(
I remember when I first got the game, and things like the special vehicles were a genuine rarity to come by. The Ruiner 2000 was about as elusive as a fox on a nuked island, and the Rocket Voltic I only saw a total of three times throughout my entire GTAO career, and only one of those was in freeroam. Previously if someone shot at me I would gladly retaliate in excess, using BST and a stock sniper to make up for the lack of a heavy rifle. Now, that's impossible. A Hydra you can fight back against, cripple with multiple shots and either finish it off as it comes for its final run, or let it limp to its death and be free for about five minutes. No financial penalty, nothing about the game calling you a "bad sport" for destroying a multi-million dollar war machine hellbent on your destruction, nothing.
Enter online now. Mechanical beasts such as the Hydra are obsolete, and net you bad sport points for their destruction. The beasts that replaced them such as the Rogue possessing countermeasures and upgraded armor to make it even more difficult for the underdogs to combat it. If the skies are giving you a reprieve somehow, the ground has rocket-launching machines that surpass the Rhino in terms of armor, speed, and firepower. And the potential for financial warfare with the insurance cost and "bad sport" points for destroying it. The Oppressor being just that, an oppressor of an entire lobby. Cargo of all types is unsafe when it can be scrambled and outpace everything in an instant. If you dare try and fight back, you're entering a losing battle that is as much of a physical battle as a financial one, with money being siphoned for destroying their toys. And if you somehow get them on foot, things like the thermal goggles and explosive rounds make it all but impossible. BST can't even put you on equal footing anymore, and neither can armor.
Overall, as a TLDR for my slightly melodramatic rant, new players are getting horribly fucked. Money actually matters to them and they're getting it stolen from them now for trying to fight back, and if they get lucky and get a single kill on their fucking UFOs, it doesn't matter. The Oppressor can be spawned back in literally five fucking seconds flat, and their weapons physically can't compete with the ones higher levels used.
I hate to say it because it's become almost a circlejerk to say it, but GTAO might actually die out. Shit like the Ruiner 2000 and Hydra were powerful, but at least they had checks and balances even if unofficial ones such as the Insurgent and Insurgent Pickup, and BST. In addition to a long spawn delay, and most importantly being impossible to use for financial warfare. Now, things more powerful than those two are out, and actively punish you for fighting back. Short of either shutting the game off, what are people going to do when they get shitstomped like that after just purchasing the game? If you answered "buy a shark card", you're fucking wrong. Even if they buy one, they'll see their shit become obsolete just like it did before and not repeat the cycle.
Rank 10 and I just won a four man game of the juggernaut adversary mode 8 -)
Wanna know what I hate? the people that think they can manipulate R* to do whatever they want
Whining for "where is MY COPS N CROOKS DLC ROCKSTAR" or "WHERE IS THIS VEHICLE THAT I WANT AND THIS NEW FEATURE THAT I WANT AND SHIT" constantly and over and over is gonna do jack shit
the least you can do is pray for them to work on it/release it, plus they have 2 games coming out soon
I'd like for R* to release a few new cars from games past, like the Hakumai and GTASA Primo, Intruder, etc
Just tuner/ricer and normal people cars
And I hope they don't fuck up multiplayer for GTA6
If you want to experience anything in Smuggler's Run you need to first drop $5.6mil on a hangar. Thankfully that's an easy amount of money to run across, what with all the people fucking with you in Insurgent Pickups and APCs and a $20,000,000 sniper rifle with explosive rounds.
Yeah this ensures my will to never touch a public game again

Is it just me or do the cards actually say "Another" on them? is that supposed to be some subliminal "BUY MORE" shit

"Shark cards" were a thing long before GTA Online. I remember hearing ads about it on the radio sometime before Online was released. Apparently, they were just supposed to be just a parody product in the GTA universe, but I guess Rockstar sort of used that as a way to advertise their micro-transactions.

Shark-cards can be seen in gta iv aswell
I believe we're supposed to be getting the Vigilante today for $3,750,000. I hope it's not a limited time vehicle like the other Halloween vehicles.
[editline]d[/editline]
It's now available. I see sales on the Molotok, Half-Track, Weaponized Tampa, Ramp Buggy, Phantom Wedge, Ruiner 2000, Infernus Classic, Ruston, Penetrator, Shotaro, Retinue, Tornado Rat-Rod, Sanctus, Vortex, Franken Stange, and Albany Lurcher.
Condemned adversary mode is also available and is currently running double cash and RP. Transform races are still double cash and RP as well.

Just a quick note for anyone interested in the Vigilante, it does not have any explosive resistance, you will be killed in 1 RPG rocket, and probably one or two explosive rounds as well. The glass isn't bulletproof either, so you're a sitting duck for an Oppressor and Heavy Sniper Mk. II user. You will also need the MOC to upgrade the vehicle, you won't be able to give it homing missiles if you don't have one. You won't be able to apply any standard upgrades either, like armour, engine, respray etc. as it cannot be modded at a LS Customs or office garage workshop.
If you want it because it's a Batmobile, then I fully understand, but it isn't going to be a practical everyday vehicle for pubbing in.
Also, a free 400k ain't bad, providing we actually get it on login.

They could've did it like the Nightshark and Ardent, have it be customizable at LSC but leave the MOC upgrades out (like rockets and such)

They could have, but they know it's a desirable item that has a wide audience, so it will probably force a few people into buying the string of properties and vehicles it requires to be upgraded, which is around 7.5 million total cost if you buy the cheapest options, including the price of the Vigilante and its upgrades.
Expect most future updates to have this level of cash investment required to give other useless vehicles options they should have come with as standard.

Shit those were the days, I remember back in 2013 when there was like 5-6 of us playing together on Xbox 360, those early days races were so much fun. Sad to think all those normal street races are abandoned in favour of "hold R2" stunt races.
I remember grinding missions, gang attacks and store robberies just to save up the 850k for a stinger GT :v: That money is so easy to make now
[editline]27th October 2017[/editline]
That's not necessarily a bad thing, that grind was long but that was about as expensive as cars got back then
So on very limited observation and experience, the Vigilante seems to use the same rockets the Ruiner 2000 uses, considering it was able to flawlessly track me in an Oppressor while I was rocket-boosting straight up and diving.
What could go wrong, giving a vehicle 30 uber-missiles that can't be dodged, along with an insurance cost and the rocket boost of the Voltic?
Oh, and no special vehicle icon either. Whether this is pure laziness or outright malice towards the players I can't tell, but either way have fun getting instantly murdered by some guy from a mile away because you can't tell if they're driving a regular car, a nightshark or a flying saucer with the gear set to park.
Still some interesting things coming out of here

What's the point in 7-lap stunt races? Often I find the outcome is decided within the first three laps and then the rest of the race is either bathing in victory or half arsedly finishing the course.

7 laps is about right for maximum payout:time ratio for most races
7 laps is about right for maximum payout:time ratio for most races
Don't you hit max payout at 8 minutes.
So 7 laps of a stunt race, would be over 12 minutes long for your average laptime on most tracks.
Don't you hit max payout at 8 minutes.

To hit max payout, you need to have raced for 8 minutes with 8 players in the race
Are there any sort of essential or quality of life mods I should know about before I start the 3/VC/SA trilogy? I'd like to experience the games as close to vanilla as possible but I just want to know if there's any general improvements I should be looking at first.

hence "most races" and not "most stunt races"
people apply regular race theories to stunt race theories
Transform Inferno is pretty good imo
One thing I find a bit odd is that I've noticed more hostility from low level players than higher level ones. The people in Hydras and Oppressors tend to leave well enough alone unless they're in a griefing crew, low levels with a freshly stolen Ruiner on the other hand seem to be the ones more likely to go after your cargo and whatnot. The reason I find this odd is simply because of the massive equipment difference from even Ammunation, let alone the unspeakable horrors of the Hydra, MOC, Vigilante, Firestorm UFO, Ogre Titan and whatever else batshit insane WMDs can be unleashed at a moment's notice.
Ignoring things like that, and sticking solely to what's seen in Ammunation, higher levels can store more armor, and have things like the Heavy Sniper and Minigun, both of which are engines of destruction that you're shit out of luck fighting against if you don't have one of your own. Knowing that alone and not the potential financial loss of the other person, doesn't it seem a bit odd to go against anywhere from one to eight people with that equipment when all you have is a Machine Pistol with a drum mag?

Low levels who turn out to be extremely good at the game are often people on their 2nd characters or alt accounts trying to beat high levels by killing them on sight just because they're trying to prove something to themselves or because they 100% believe nobody has ever done that before.
Also, I don't know how to word it properly, but since Grand Theft Auto is a popular franchise, it attracts a lot of people who aren't really into videogames and Grand Theft Auto Online has the unfortunate feature of being unfriendly towards new players.
Where I live, if you say you like playing Grand Theft Auto you can already expect to not be taken seriously and get caught in dumb conversations like "I just go around running people over and killing prostitutes".
"The other day I crashed a Ferrari into some weird shit and then killed cops".
The vast majority of people I know in real life don't know that GTA Online even exists. When I mention the 4th character they say they think they need to unlock it, others think it's a character to be released in a future DLC.
The ones who actually discovered that Online existed, once they were thrown into Free Mode they became unable to make in a progress through the game because they couldn't figure out how to start a mission, how to enable passive mode, how to get a personal vehicle, how to buy a garage, let alone how to withdraw/deposit cash or even buy guns.
Stuff like SecuroServ, Bunkers, Special Cargo, Vehicle Warehouses and Heists are completely foreign concepts for them.
With a huge lack of knowledge in Online, which ain't exactly very friendly towards new players, just leads them to go around shooting people on sight and stay at a lower level.
I'm level 19 and I only get hostile if a gameplay mechanic requires it. Other than that, this one guy kept sniping me during a King of the Castle on Vespucci beach so that I couldn't escape. Straight after he was the target of an executive search so I went after him in a helicopter and couldn't get my vengeance whatsoever. Then he starts tracking me down in Freemode (I was about to do the sams to be fair) and we end up having a deathmatch. I lost to his sniper, so I went to ammu nation to buy one and got a SecuroServ invite from the guy. I joined as a form of digitally handshaking and we did some executive searches. Made a far bit of cash too. It was the most fun I've had yet.

Excuse typing, new android keyboard
Logged in to get that $400k, havent played since June or May I think, checking out prices for hangars and yeah, as expected it's depressing as always. I have a bunker in Zankudo, and there's three hangars in the base itself and they are at least 2mil. About 3 mil for cheapest hangar there with the workshop and shit. The only way I'll enjoy this content is if I find an 'investor' that will boost the dosh count. Just like what happened when Gunrunning came out, oh man was that loads of fun :v:
I just noticed that the Truffade Nero looks mean only as long as you look at it from an upwards angle.

Once you go down a bit it just looks super scared.
