It doesn't seem to stand for "Anti Cheat":
It appears that Rockstar has not disabled the alleged anticheat line of code in the latest Tunables update.Further code analysis by members of the community I'm part of have revealed that "TURNON_AC_HOTRING" has merely been arenamed to a string of numbers, possibly to throw off data miners. Furthermore, it was determined that the AC in "TURNON_AC_HOTRING" is highly unlikely to actually stand for "anticheat" as there are other switches (code bits) with names such as "NEW_AC_VEHICLE_TEXT." As such, it is still unclear what the exact cause of the bans is, and the latest Tunables update may not have fixed anything. Update to this update: According to leaker Fun 2, "TURNON_AC_HOTRING" doesn't have anything to do with the anticheat, and is actually meant to promote the latest Hotring Series races. Thanks to /u/Lost__Warrior  for pointing this out, whose username is messing with all of the other font styles in my post.
Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/gtaonline/comments/86q5lj/032318_gta_online_ban_wave_what_we_know_so_far/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyizkwCzKbY I can't believe how good all this stuff is, this makes GTA:O look so lazy and unfinished
I love how they've got actual real world cars in that garage (saw a Ford GT, 69 Mustang etc) and even.... the Rotsun from Overkill (0:59 in the top vid)? I should really install FiveM again since R* have cocked up Online again (not wanting to get my account I've had since the PS3 days (beerhats etc) banned...)
I tried FiveM on a friend's computer, and it was fun to dick around in for a bit, but I could never see myself completely moving over to that. regular GTA Online has so many quality of life features that FiveM doesn't. Not to mention all the heists, freemode activities, and other missions. Maybe I'd like it more if I was really into roleplay or racing.
I remember a few servers which were essentially just 32/64 player deathmatches like you could find on SA:MP (storming a building and shooting it up as 2 rival Mafia gangs etc). Can't remember the name, or if they're even still around though.
The biggest question for me about FiveM, does it fix the animation for heels turning into the animation for flat shoes when using vehicles and doing certain things?
Apparently the Tezeract and Ellie are both live on GTAO now. Looking at the tunables, it seems like the Hunter is on sale and some cargo work might be paying more for this week's event.
Now if only logging in on pc would be safe
I've been playing on the Homecoming server for a while and they're not real world cars, they're incredibly made lore-friendly cars. They collaborate with the guys from vanillaworks so most of the cars from that are or are going to be in it. The people who run the server really have a passion for getting this to be the ultimate racing experience and having changed most handling stats and properly classifying most cars (There's even a tuners class for things like the Futo, Warrener, etc!) it really is a breath of fresh air if you like racing in GTA.
"This very specific build of this one single car is better than anything else in the game because it's designed to be that way"
i never thought you could really set up a turbocharged engine more retarded than this https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107131/1296b076-9eaa-4423-9846-e6620c721cac/20180328234135_1.jpg
That's pretty much how the Ford RS200 it's based on is set up. Group B rally cars didn't care about anything other than going fast as fuck.
yeah but the RS200 had a inline 4 with a turbo mounted low, and didnt rely on the exhaust gases to travel upwards through what is essentially in gta a flipped intake manifold through a rubber pipe into the exhaust side
So aparently a lot of the falsely banned people have been unbanned. ....Some of them lost a few mill on their accounts, others lost nothing, some gained a few mill, and one guy i think got 10 mill. ...Not that it matters anyways, they all got re-banned again when they started up online since Rockstar still didn't fix what was banning people.
How in the fuck can they still be this incompetent?
most of these cases have bought a shark card, and since shark card's money just appears out of nowhere in your account maybe that's what triggering the ban?
Yeah with the current ban stuff still occurring, I'm staying off GTAO until it's fixed for real.
Yeah. Im not touching it for a while. Shame since i wanna try out the new cars
This is the same company who pushed out code for the Voltic (initially) which checked EVERY vehicle in existence whether it had a rocket attached and whether it was ready instead of just checking the vehicle hash against a list of vehicles which support it. This was in the game for 2 updates before they pulled their finger out and actually fixed it. This seriously doesn't surprise me when support themselves say they can do no wrong.
Its kinda amazing how badly managed Rockstar is as a studio. I've heard and read horror stories out of it about management being constantly abusive and psycho. They don't want departments or even employees talking to each other at all if possible and are very paranoid they might be talking, and basically its a shitshow through and through. Management barely communicates to the employees and is basically the only line one department has with another, so if they need to have something checked out or discussed with someone in another department then they have to go to their manager who will decide if it needs to go further (all while taking note of whoever brought this up) and if they decide it needs to progress then that manager talks to the one for that department, and if they decide it needs to go further they might raise it to certain employees. And then the process has to be repeated in reverse. And at any time a manager or higher up can kill the issue and it goes no where, and sometimes employees get reprimanded for bringing things up.
Back when I was in uni, we had a programmer from R* North come in to talk to us and since I update and release mods for GTA, I went along to it. She spoke about how varied the work was.... then mentioned everything (literally!) is under NDA. Go for an interview? "Sign this NDA even though we aren't going to tell you anything! You can't speak of this interview for 6 months minimum!" She jokingly mentioned the only thing she could tell us about what she does at R* was programming the camera for cutscenes and trailers - nothing else could be mentioned. She did show us a trailer for RDR2 early though which was nice. I asked if they offered Junior programmer positions and told her about my mod menu stuff (gave me a real programming confidence boost when her face lit up when I mentioned it however), mostly asking whether I'd actually have to stop development of my mods if I were offered a job and she said it would be up to the company whether that would happen or not and judging by her response about NDAs, they most likely would [tell me to pack it in]. I also remember seeing the programmers having to work weekends (assuming forced by management) when dupe glitches came out on the PS3/360. You could go up Calton hill and see them debugging + playtesting patches (they looked pretty miserable) and that'd be because of Rockstar New York (their head office) going mental down the phone at them (this kind of behaviour is mentioned on their Glass Door page). It's sad because they make some really impressive games, but something has to give in the end it seems and you're under NDA to never discuss it.
RIP R* Employees
Yan posted this: https://twitter.com/Yan2295/status/979806969224626176 Probably won't be long before we see this seeing as how the current update is small and the dripfeed won't be lasting as long as some of the other recent updates.
I agree. I hope the current anti cheat problems will be gone soon so that i can properly grind for the next update. I don't like being unable to grind, knowing a very large update is about to come.
If 'consolidation' means any form of housekeeping to un-fuck the currently tangled mess of arbitrary limitations of being registered as either CEO or MC Prez, such as not being able to access your CEO vehicles when you're in your MC, will be a welcome change. Or being able to operate all businesses from the MOC or Avenger would be really great, and give them a bit more reason to actually exist. Something tells me it's just going to be a slight alteration where you can be registered as either CEO/MC to do source missions, like Gunrunning, where you can be either to login in to the laptop to do business. I'm still not sold on this being close to the end of GTA Online, it's true that RDR2 will see player numbers down for a while, but there's no way they're dropping one game wholesale to support a new one, unless RDR2 Online blows GTA microtransaction turnover out of the water. At worst we'll see the B-Team work on GTA and get Hotring-level quality updates until interest in GTA Online tapers off.
I think most big updates to GTAO are treated as the "last" until Take-Two confirms that they want to make a bit more money in the conference calls that typically follow these big updates.
Honestly i can't see GTA Online's updates ever ending before another GTA game comes to take the glory away. They earn so much money from them considering how little effort is put into them, and there is no way they can add close to this much content into RRR2's online component.
The game's really starving for quality of life updates. Also remove "Public session only" restriction from business missions and Doomsday preps. I think sane players deserve some safe space from tryhards and griefing assholes.
It's mind boggling to me why they don't. They already have all sorts of nasties they can throw at you, like the "Rival Outfit" helicopters that can hit a moving target flawlessly while both the target and heli are constantly shifting altitude, along with the literally everything in I/E that are actually T-600s in disguise with how accurate they can shoot. Just crank the difficulty up times three and bam, it's balanced. Previously favored tactics when you tick off some NPCs were "ehhhhhhhhhh fuck it i'll waste more money on ammo than repairs". Now you'll have to either not piss the NPCs off, or actually fight them as they will ACTUALLY try and steal the vehicle, and not just shoot out all the tires on the vehicle they were explicitly told to retrieve. Same with Gunrunning, Crates, and the whole nine yards.
Speaking of I/E - stealing supercars with exposed engine is a fucking nightmare. Had a mission to beat the time race, then once i drive back the very first bunch of rival npcs literally land one shot on engine tube and bam - repair cost is over 20k and the car is on fire. G-fucking-G rockstar.
