Once I found a fireaxe, the density of these zombies didn't seem as bad. I've been surviving for a couple days in the house I spawned in as a carpenter, and I am doing fairly well as I have just found a crowbar, sledgehammer, a shovel, around 50 nails, and loads of other good supplies such as a tent peg and loads of seed packets. I am really stocked up.
You just have to play it slow and safe. Stand near walls or trees whenever possible to block line of sight. I have not moved more than 500 meters from my base, nor have I had any need to.
Also, you can find hammers and nails on some zombies, be sure to check the corpses of the ones you kill when you get a chance. There are good tools and food that will walk right up to you!
My score before I update to Build 007 (I really want to go weapons free and shoot everything ever. I don't think I'll survive. Full pistol + 38 spare rounds. Let's do this.):
How long I stayed alive pre-firefight: 13 days, 3 hours.
How many zombies slain: 246
Favorite Weapon: Axe
Skills: Nimble 1, Cooking 1
EDIT: Okay, pistol is broken. It rests at your feet and it won't allow you to fire. Let's try the shotgun. I only have 12 shots but I still have my axe.
EDIT2: Fired all 12 shots, hundreds of zombies in pursuit. I managed to bag 29 kills with those 12 shells.
EDIT3: Haha, I managed to run a large loop and lost the zombies pursuing me. There are a few dozen just northwest of my house. I am leading a couple at a time around the back and killing them. My wall is getting painted with blood!
EDIT4: A couple came behind me by my surprise, they're getting smarter. I killed 12 in one go, but now my groin is scratched! I bandaged it and now I return to the cull.
EDIT5: The sun went down and a zombie in a bright pink sweater bit me in my groin. Why is it always the groin? I bandaged it. The window to my north got broken by one of the zombes as I led them around the back, but I'll still go to bed as my guy is really drowsy, and as long as I don't snore, they shouldn't know I'm there because that window has a sheet on it.
EDIT6: A crafty female zombie climbed through the window in an attempt to catch me before I went to bed. Lucky for me the stove was in the way and she got stuck behind it. Popped her head and now it is time for some sweet dreams.
EDIT7: I tell you what. I'm a tough S.O.B. 5:40 wake-up, and no signs of infection. My guy is stuck in a panic, but that should hopefully go away with time. It is raining right now so I will wait a couple hours for the weather to improve before I continue the cull.
13 Days, 20 Hours. 332 Kills.
EDIT8: Opened myself a can of beans while I wait for the sun. Very hearty breakfast and it calmed me right down. (There should be an empty can left over which you could fill with water.)
EDIT9: While I was putting away my guns and pistol ammo, the rain stopped at 7:00 on the dot. Back to the cull.
EDIT10: Damn. I missed my swing and smashed my other window. I killed the zombies that I was dealing with, and it doesn't look like the crash has attracted any others. I'm going to need to bust down some of my neighbors' doors for some wood to barricade these things back up. I hope tarp makes an appearance in this game. I would much rather nail those things to my house to not only block vision, but the elements from getting inside. I like to sleep in warm dry beds, you know.
EDIT11: The herd is thinning. I just killed a girl zombie with a red hair and a goatee.
EDIT12: Accidentally tripped the remaining 20 zombies, I thinned the group into a line by scraping them off around the corner of my house and managed to kill them all. Turns out zombies CAN vault through barricaded windows. Nowhere is safe.
EDIT13: Clouds started pouring buckets out once the clock struck 12:00. Finished off the last of the group around my house, with the final boss zombie taking an extra 6 hits to kill and making my guy need to catch a breath.
EDIT14: My cull continues west. Finally I have the opportunity to check out the houses directly west of me without worrying about the large horde that had been sitting there for the past two weeks. Oh, did I mention? I've been alive for 14 days, 10 hours, and I have killed 424 zombos. The sun went down so its time for this guy to go to sleep, and it is actually 4AM where I am so I am going to hit the sack, too. I'll see if I can kill this guy tomorrow.
ZOMBUGS(?)
-I can climb through my broken and barricaded (+sheet) windows. I'm afraid to test if zombies can, too. EDIT: They can.
-I think my food moodle is broken. It doesn't go red. (A lot of my moodles in general aren't lowering. (Boredom, Upset)
-Reloading the game resets mood.
-Some closets are considered 'floor' storage.
-Cooking is definitely broken. I had a piece of uncooked salmon in the oven, a whole night passed and it was still uncooked.
-Hovering mouse over empty skill block spams:
attempted index: getWidth of non-table: nullStack:render
-"Sang Bag Wall"
-"Strewberry Seeds Pack"
-(Light Drinker) Drinking a full bottle of whiskey doesn't get me drunk.
-Some male zombies make female pain yelps.
-Lowering graphics makes blood luminescent in fog of war.
-When clicking "grab" on kettle in counter:
Stack:onMouseUp
Stack:canPutIn
__It not defined for operandremoving completed action.
-Reading a journal blasts through the pages until stopped by movement.
-Zombies will begin to "get down" and freak out / spazz in place if they get stuck on trees.
-Pistol rests at your feet when aimed. Will not fire.
-You hold the shotgun upside down. Invisible when aimed. (But it can fire, and oh ho ho is it ever good!)
-Blunt skill doesn't increase (axe)
-Aiming and Reloading didn't increase (shotgun)

Looks rad as hell.
Seriously, I like it.
Wait a minute.

HOLY SHIT WHEN WAS THIS CONFIRMED?
I want my 0007 patch so I can start building shit.
It's too hard right now, will try again with release 7. Everywhere I go, there's just walls of zombies which never seem to move or migrate around so I can't accomplish anything.
That said, I'm extremely impressed with the progress made with the game.
One question: How do you use the sheet ropes on windows now? I kept trying to use a rope on a window, but all I kept doing was jumping out and injuring myself.

Use sheets, Not sheet ropes.
Goddamn, i keep running and running, then every now and them im in the safe. then a zombie spots me and time to run again.
Im wielding a fucking spoon or something. cant find a proper weapon.
I'm bitten.
I'm panicked.
I'm running a fever.
And I'm sprinting down the street in a righteous stupor, armed with a shotgun and shouting bible verses as I release these poor souls from their suffering.
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you. BANG BANG BANG BANG
And I wish they'd fix the goddamned inventory bug before anything else.
I mean I can deal with the game having to be reloaded after death, the zombies materialising before me, food running out in a matter of days, and even barricading being fickle as my granddads tall-tales, but the inventory bug is the most nailbitingly annoying glitch in the game.
Come forth lemmy, shower us with your hotfixes.
I reloaded my save and had some creepy ass zombie that walked through walls and kept chasing me, I would knock him back and he's float through walls, I would run and just when I thought it was safe he would come through a wall again. It was hilarious.

does anyone have any idea what kind of problem i'm having? the only post talks about the java bug but i'm pretty sure i fixed that, even then he wasn't even sure where to find the fix for the java bug.
Will the map get updated before release? It feels pretty empty to me...

Sounds like you have SCP 106 in your game.
Tip: You can find an apple, 5 nails, a sheet or two, and / or a hammer on the corpses of dead zombies. Chances are 1:8 will have one.
My guy.

When you reload a game, it likes to take off all of the zombie's clothes.

How the fuck did you not crash when barricading??
I know the map isn't complete but I've been thinking it's a little bit barren and boring. It'd be nice if they threw an urban area or two back in the mix.
How the fuck did you not crash when barricading??
I dont crash either.
How the fuck did you not crash when barricading??
I didn't have too much wood so only my front window has 2 barricades, the others have maybe one, I also have a window with 0 barricades!
Generally in my process, I would have a sheet on my window long before I put a barricade on it. Maybe that is the secret.
Unfortunately, zombies can climb through barricaded windows so really it is just a big waste of time. You would be better off putting sheets on and being quiet, as well as culling any of the guys that get too close.
How do you run this?
I keep clicking the 64 bit zomboid exe but it opens a command box and just closes instantly.

Make sure you have the 64 bit version of Java if you're wanting to launch the 64 bit version.
I think there should be more axes around.
I think there should be more axes around.
I have found two in my guy's life. You'll probably find them in wooden crates.
Also, I have survived for 16 days and the water has stopped running out of the taps. I have it stored in as many bowls and kettles as I can find, but I will run out within the next couple of days if I can't find any more.
How do I recover my username/pass?
I bought from google checkout ages ago and haven't played in a long time.

Send an email to accounts@projectzomboid.com from the account you used, they're pretty cool about giving passwords back.
Bought the game, great success.
What is the Intel bug?
Survived for 8 hours, holy shit these things don't die.
Did anyone encounter a problem with the guns only firing once then all the ammo disappearing?
Could somebody enlighten me on the specifics of looting zombie corpses. I've noticed the glow around them that indicates they can be looted but have had no luck actually doing so.

Stand over their corpse, open loot window, and click on the icon that looks like a shelf.
